I worked for Pan Am as an avionics tech at LAX. I was on vacation at the time, and my sister called me. She said turn on tv, looks like Pan Am went out of business. Although it was no surprise, as we all knew the end was near. And I still have my Pan Am uniform.
Total end of an era. No more Peter Jennings on ABC News and no more Pan Am in the sky.
I was hired by Pan Am in 1988 an flew with them until December 4 1991 it was sad to see it go
And they thought the economy was bad then!!

What a whirlwind this video is. First it describes the collapse of one of the most legendary airlines in history, immediately following by explaining a “new figure” called Gross Domestic Product, which is commonly used to measure economics of a country now.
And this is the same month the USSR collapsed! What is December 1991??
