    I thought I was the only one that repairs instead of replaces! glad to hear there are at least two of us!

      Haha a dying breed for sure. Everyone throws stuff away these days. I fix all kind of goofy little things. It is the most enjoyable to fix non serviceable parts to me.

    I was having the exact issues described in this video. 1997 (7 lug) F250 XLT Supercab. Mine wasn't the switch. I kind of hoped it was... But I replaced the switch and it did nothing to help. Ended up being a completely broken (eventually) black ground wire (the thickest one running in the weather boot) running from the driverside switch to the kick panel, I believe, as I could only follow it so far into the door jam. Hope this helps someone else that struggled for as long as my dumb self did before doing one of the 1st few things you should do in that situation.

    Thank for the video - it was very useful for the repair of my switch. My truck is a 1999 and the switch is different, but similar enough to yours.
    My problem was the passenger-side window would not go up. The cause was corrosion/oxidation in the driver-side switch.
    Ford does a tricky thing to put the driver and passenger side switches in parallel: the passenger-side switch (and hence, motor) gets +12V power directly. But it gets GROUND from the driver-side switch.
    Ifeither D-side GROUND connection is open or oxidized, the P-side window will not go up or down, depending on which side of the D-side switch is bad. If you are truly very unlucky, your P-side window won't go either direction.
    I fixed mine by cleaning the D-side contacts with thin strips of emery paper, then spraying heavily all the contacts with CRC QD Electronic Cleaner.
    I think the cleaner may have been enough alone, so long as I had opened up the contacts before spraying.

    I am a repairer also... but for $12 on amazonia, I get lazy. Also filed contacts never perform up to OEM status, and I would assume it a short life repair. Well worth a try since it is so easy to get to. My issue is no down on the passenger from either side switch; the drivers window performs fine. Motor is good. So for me I think it is just check all fuses and relays and replace at least the drivers side switch... [?] since it apparently controls the ground.

      How do you know which relays to check? I have a diagram for my fuses/relays but none indicate which is the relay for the windows. -Thanks

    • @RRaucina
      @RRaucina 9 месяцев назад

      You can hear and feel the relay click if someone else operates the switch. Also there are only a few relays in the box and all the same , swap them around for a test. More typical is the window switch as a failure point, that was my solution. Also you can open up the door and run a hot wire and ground to the window motor and see if it operates to eliminate that as the issue.@@sun622

    I found out my window wouldn’t roll down, and my passenger mirror wouldn’t adjust either, I was hoping it was just a fuse but after doing some research I realize it wasn’t, hopefully I can figure this out 😂

    hey there, i have a 1997 F150 single cab. both my driver and passenger windows wont go up or down using either door's buttons. Sometimes the driver window will start working if it feels like it OR will randomly go down all by itself. I do hear a clicking sound when hitting ANY of the buttons on either door. im at a loss.

    So for my 1997 F150, I've already switched out both the window regulator and switch on the drivers side which worked initially but now the window won't go up. Im hesitant to cut the wires as you've shown because it might do more damage (?). HELP? I think you're right tho to cut the wires... Pls. advice. Thanks

    • @TheGaginator
      @TheGaginator  12 дней назад

      It could be the wires inside the door harness, but it may also be the body control module. Less likely to be the
