I still drive a 2001 ford f150 4.2, besides the rust eating away at it. I would not give it up for anything. Love the videos ,you get right to the point, a lot of us are trying to get informed not entertained.
Bought my 03 a few months ago with 172k and who knew these trucks are a good ride the 4.2 runs strong doesn't make a sound no ticking etc. Cold ac and can tell it's going to last another 200k easy. Rear main seal leak eh so what been poor whole life never had anything that didn't leak lol. AND replacing the gas cap with a Locking one today I noticed the key fob stored there so..Excellent..still works except the driver's door lock makes sound works but like the rod is detached and can't see what's wrong after panel removed so onto another video. 1st time having a key fob gonna like that too.
every door panel i've ever taken off (before discovering youtube) i had to re attach it with drywall screws because i had broken off all the clips removing it. thanks for the video
Thank you for sharing this! I've a bad speaker on the driver's side and want to fix that without breaking all sorts of other stuff in the process. I really appreciate the warnings and how clearly you explained the process.
It's very helpful to see what it looks like before you do it. Informative, step by step guide of what could be otherwise a big pain in the arse. Well done.
Appreciate this! The video from the Side Mirror maker described an entirely different F150 than my 2003. Your video was spot on. One thing I found was that I couldn't get the top clip to release on the trim along the window, but with the bottom clip released I was still able to get the door panel off. Appreciate the time you took to make the video
Yeah, I broke my window trim because of that upper clip. Turns out Ford put a little plastic hook on that one, so you have to slide it up a 1/4 inch or so before pulling it out.
Thank you for the help! A piece of tin from a storm knocked my passenger side mirror off and I need to get a safety inspection to license my truck. (Yes I rode around with only one side mirror as long as I could, sigh) I just finished putting it on! I probably could have found one that matched but this generic one will do! Thanks for making the video! It felt good to be able to get this done myself. 🙏
CAUTION 1997 F150 Thanks for this video it was critical for me to figure out how to get my door panel off when my door handle jammed. My 1997 F150 is not the same as the one in this video; I bought it new and it was one of the first production models. The window/lock controls pop straight up. If force is used to slide it forward it will break. Also, I don't have screws behind the trim plastic; they are the plastic push-pin things that typically need replacement when removed. My door handle has a trim plastic part that will not pull off. There is a round plastic pop-out that allows access to an 8mm bolt to remove the handel; don't remove the bolt completely it is intended to stay partially in the handle so it does not fall inside the door.
Yes it did help. I resisted taking mine off to check my power mirrors cause I figured it had those cheap one time use plastic clips that break and I don't have any on hand. Now I know I'm not gonna need clips, thanks for the upload.
thanks very helpful I've always been afraid to take it apart because it seems like once you take it apart it never goes back together the same way videos very helpful thanks a lot
Thank you berry much at fist i did not wanted to do anything my self n get someone to fix my door because of a spring that broke n your video was verry helpfull for me to do it so thanks again sorry 4 the bad spelling if i did
I have a 2001 F-150 long bed, regular cab. Will the set up still be the same as opposed to the extended or quad cab models? I'm getting no sound from my door speaker and I need to investigate. It is impossible to remove the radio to check it there. Thanks for the video. :)
PalaniRides Should be the same setup for a single cab, or at least very similar. The speaker is really easy to get to. I think it's just four screws holding it in so it's easy to remove. If your other speakers are working it shouldn't be anything inside the radio that would be the problem. Thanks for watching!
Ive allready had both my pannels off and back on but just wanted to let u guys know its verry easy to do. But just b carefull of the door lamp i almost pulled mine off

Helped with door speaker installs, with your help I did both in 15 minutes. Thanks again. Very straight forward.
Excellent. I have not pulled a door panel on a Ford pickup in so many years, I needed to search for where the screws were! Thankyou!
Thank you SOOOOO much. It took all of 15 minutes to replace the passenger speaker. I can't thank you enough!
Man, RUclips beats the crap out of a Haynes manual. Thank you sir!!!
