Cree Led Auxiliary Reverse Lights

2000 Ford F-150 Door Lock Actuator Replacement
Просмотров 154 тыс.9 лет назад
Just showing how I replaced the door lock actuator in my 2000 F-150. Should be mostly the same for the years 97-03. I am not a professional, so this may not be the correct factory service way of doing this, but it gets the job done and it's the way that worked for me. Hope this helps someone...

Not really a super cold day. It was about 40 degrees out, but it hadn't been started since about the end of November and it's mid February. The battery is about 5 or 6 years old and still going strong.

This trimmer has sat since the end of October. I have never had to do anything to this trimmer in the 2 years I've owned it except run it! I want to get a straight shaft trimmer, but going to run this one a while longer. I will definitely buy another Husqvarna! They're awesome products! Hopefully more cold start videos to come...

Replacing the front shocks on a 2000 Ford F-150 with Rancho RS5000 shocks. I said in the video that they were RS5000, but that can easily be confused with the part number, which is RS5233. Just wanted to make that clear. This video is for entertainment purposes only, it is not a how to video.

Thanks for the video! In addition to poking the actuator through the door latch mechanism, it is also possible to slide a flat head screwdriver between the actuator and its mounting bracket from the inside of the door (from the window track side). This allows you to use a twisting motion with the screwdriver to pry the actuator arm+pin out of hole that it clicks into, and then slide the actuator toward the outside of the door to remove it.

Excellent! Worked like a charm on a 1999 F-150. I used a little lithium grease and maneuvered a clamp in there to pull the new one fully into place. Only one bloody knuckle!

Appreciate this! The video from the Side Mirror maker described an entirely different F150 than my 2003. Your video was spot on. One thing I found was that I couldn't get the top clip to release on the trim along the window, but with the bottom clip released I was still able to get the door panel off. Appreciate the time you took to make the video

Yeah, I broke my window trim because of that upper clip. Turns out Ford put a little plastic hook on that one, so you have to slide it up a 1/4 inch or so before pulling it out.

Kenneth, Ty! I watched your video 1st, then others that were more labor intensive. Went back to yours and it worked well. I put a little oil on the slides of the actuator and it went in better than when they were dry. I loosened the window the window frame bolt and once I got the actuator started in place. Tightened the frame bolt down and was able to pry into place with a long screwdriver, upend the window frame as a backdrop. Your method worked extremely well!!!

Thank you for the help! A piece of tin from a storm knocked my passenger side mirror off and I need to get a safety inspection to license my truck. (Yes I rode around with only one side mirror as long as I could, sigh) I just finished putting it on! I probably could have found one that matched but this generic one will do! Thanks for making the video! It felt good to be able to get this done myself. 🙏

I just replaced lock actuator in my '97 F150. Instructions are different for '97 than for the 2000. It is working fine now, but required MANY tools,a lot of struggling with connectors and real difficulties drilling out the rivet, reaching the actuator, twisting out its push rod, etc. I had to go out and buy several more tools like a riveter that I didn't use after all, and a tap and die set to thread for small hex bolts to replace ridiculously cheap old plastic inserts that of course broke into pieces. Also used steel epoxy to replace (with a hex bolt) the big drilled out rivet that holds the actuator. Overall I find Ford's design for placement of this actuator to be a very poor design, in large part because it cannot be reached! I found this repair to be quite difficult and time consuming. Plus, after watching many such videos, it was not at all clear that changing the actuator would actually solve the problem, because there can be other causes for the symptoms such as bad door lock switches, or even a fault in the BCM (Body Control Module), etc. With inexpensive improvements in design, Ford could make this process much simpler, because these actuators certainly do wear out.

Bought my 03 a few months ago with 172k and who knew these trucks are a good ride the 4.2 runs strong doesn't make a sound no ticking etc. Cold ac and can tell it's going to last another 200k easy. Rear main seal leak eh so what been poor whole life never had anything that didn't leak lol. AND replacing the gas cap with a Locking one today I noticed the key fob stored there so..Excellent..still works except the driver's door lock makes sound works but like the rod is detached and can't see what's wrong after panel removed so onto another video. 1st time having a key fob gonna like that too.

Thanks for your video. I was dreading doing this job after putting it off for a few months. I ended up doing both front drivers and passenger side in about 30 mins. Only thing I did different was I used a screw driver and stuck it the actuator and the gold pice against the door and wiggles it around and it slid right off. The rest was pretty easy.
