- In this installment of the 5spd conversion for project CB9, we tackle the gauge modification and the automatic shifter wiring modifications. I also show you how to remove the dashboard bezel around the gauges, A/C and radio. Some interesting finds at the junkyard while grabbing some parts that we come across as well.
Dude I’ve been doing research off and on about the wiring for an atm swap (in order for me to learn I have to physically see it being done)you just made my life so much easier
Nice work, it would be a good time to check all the bulbs in the instrument cluster while you have everything apart.
I didn't know you can swap the auto Guage into the manual.. shoot I thought you have to get or buy the whole cluster for swapping. You are the answer, my friend!!!
great video, looking to get back into honda's soon. just subscribed ✊🏽
Nice job man
Great video man, very helpful. I’m a little confused though as to why you picked up the new harness and neutral safety instead of using the ones your automatic came with?
Good question. Rather than destroy my automatic shifter with cutting the old harness out - just grabbed one from the yard instead. Nobody buys those automatic shifters anyhow and the yard doesn't charge for small little harnesses where I go.
great job!!...a question!!...the last part two cable greean and yellow where did you get connected them?
im on my way rebuilding my 96 accord. i have most of the front suspention replacement other than the lower control arms and axles. do you have any knowledge about replacing the other bushings like trailing arm bushings with solid polyurethane bushings? im not putting coils by the way
Do you have to swap to the manual cluster setup or can you drive the car with the automatic cluster after you complete the auto to manual conversion?
The car will work fine with the automatic cluster. It'll just be lit up in park the whole time. Its just a step for trying to make this conversion look at OEM as possible.
Hello friend, I did the manual conversion to my accord 90, but I am having problems with the ignition, it starts but does not start, what exactly is the purpose of joining the 2 cables of the brown connector?
Now a question about the wiring for the reverse switch do we need it to make it run?
Its not a requirement to make it run. But its a nice feature to keep in operation. Hardest part is pulling the wires into the engine bay.
Did you disconnect the wires on the reverse switch and install the new wires on.or just splice in with the wires that we’re there
I spliced on new wires onto the wire harness and pulled those wires into the engine bay and connected to the reverse switch.
Could I just leave the gauge cluster in and leave the gear selector the same? Is it just a preference thing? Just seems like more work to swap that small piece out
Nvm I read the comment about it already
I’m doing a automatic to five speed manual conversion on my 91 Honda Accord sedan, it would help a lot if u could send the information about the wiring part of your video..
im looking to go the same thing with my 91 sedan, have u done yours yet?
I'm getting a CB7 automatic soon and want to manual swap it in the future. Just one thing that's really annoying about your guide is the music you've chosen because RUclips blocked a ton of it so a lot of your explaining is just completely gone along with the rest of the audio for long part of the video.
Is there a chance you could re-edit the videos with different music? :/
Thanks for the heads up. I need to check to see if I still have the edited video of this. If so I can remove all the music and re-post it with no copyright tunes.
@@randomrebuilds thanks, that'd be hella cool!
When I did my cb9 manual swap I just swap clusters with out doing what yu did and it work just fine is there a reason why you did this way
I was hesitant of rolling back any odometer stuff and concerned I wouldn't be able to get it back in right. Someone also said the harnesses might be different, but going off what you said guess they were wrong. Oh well, all is good...
It's so you can retain the actual milage
Can you use a chiped manual p28 in the swap?
For an H22, yes. Also the P13 most people run.
Hey bud after those connections you don't need a clutch switch?
I have not figured out the clutch safety switch, so the car will start up without the clutch pedal being pressed, so make it a habit of pushing clutch in out of gear.
ok that sounds like a plan.. I did what you did with the safety switch at the shifter. I have another question where did you run the clutch line coming from the clutch master cylinder to? stray to the transmission?
@@ricardoe.t.v2927 along the firewall and on top of the transmission to make the slave cylinder connection.
