How to Fix Controller that Won't Update on Xbox Series X (Problem Updating)

If you’re having trouble updating your Xbox controller on the Series X, try these steps:
Manually Update Your Controller:
Press the Xbox button 🎮 to open the guide.
Go to Profile & system - Settings - Devices & connections - Controllers & headsets.
Select “…” under the controller you want to update.
If it says “No update available,” your controller’s firmware is current. If it says “Update,” follow the provided steps.
Disconnect Accessories:
Remove any accessories (e.g., stereo headset adapters or chatpads) from the controller.
If you received the error message “There was a problem updating your controller,” try again after disconnecting all accessories.
Power Cycle Your Console:
Press and hold the Xbox button 🎮 on the front of the console for 10 seconds until it shuts off.
Wait a minute, then turn the console back on.
Use a USB Cable:
Connect the controller to the console using a compatible micro-USB or USB-C cable.
