  • Experiencing frequent controller disconnections on your Xbox One can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Check the Batteries or Power Source:
Ensure that your controller has sufficient power. If you're using standard batteries, replace them with fresh ones or recharge the battery if you're using a rechargeable pack. Low battery power can cause disconnections.
    Use a Wired Connection:
Connect your controller to your Xbox One using a USB cable. This eliminates any wireless interference issues and helps determine if the problem is related to the wireless connection.
    Update the Controller Firmware:
Sometimes, controller disconnect issues can be resolved by updating the controller's firmware. To do this, connect the controller to your Xbox using a USB cable and go to "Settings" - "Devices & accessories"- select your controller - "Device info" - "Update firmware." Follow the on-screen instructions.
    Remove Interference:
Wireless interference can cause controller disconnects. Ensure that your Xbox and controller have a clear line of sight. Move any potential sources of interference, such as routers or other electronic devices, away from your console.
    Re-Sync the Controller:
If your controller loses connection, try re-syncing it. Press and hold the Xbox button on the controller until it turns on, then press and hold the small sync button on the front of the Xbox until the controller's Xbox button blinks. When the light on the controller and console sync together, the controller is reconnected.
    Check for Wireless Connectivity Issues:
Weak wireless connectivity for your console can affect the controller's performance. Ensure your Xbox One is positioned in a way that provides a strong wireless signal. You can also consider using a wireless repeater or extender to improve signal strength.
    Update Your Xbox One:
Ensure that your Xbox One console is running the latest system software. Sometimes, system updates include fixes for controller connectivity issues. Go to "Settings" - "System" - "Updates & downloads" and check for updates.
    Replace the Controller:
If you've tried all the above steps and the problem persists, it's possible that the controller itself is faulty. You may need to consider getting a replacement controller.
    Check for Other Interference Sources:
Other electronic devices or wireless signals in your environment can cause interference. Make sure your Xbox and controller are not too close to devices like cordless phones, wireless speakers, or microwave ovens.

I have 4 controllers and 2 Xboxs. A one S and X. This only started happening in the last few months. This is absolutely not random and it’s actually making my consoles unusable :/

Both of my brand new controllers starting doing this a few days ago, and my headset both disconnect from my Xbox then reconnect like 10 seconds later, sometimes my headset doesn’t reconnect at all and it all just randomly started happening a few days ago and it’s pissing me off

Yah bro sometimes my stuff won’t reconnect until I hard restart it. I have a one S don’t know if it’s a Bluetooth problem with the console itself but it severely pisses me off. Barely started happening kinda recently too.

Mine is going through the same thing from what I can tell it's either wifi interference or the wifi card is going out in the Xbox as it's responsible for the wireless function of headsets and controllers on top of handling the wifi as well.

Not only are they screwing up the controller with “updates” but the way the controller is designed; I.E The battery placement on the back of the controller! It should be the other way around for the battery connection pads and for some dumb reason they decided to put them on the same side!? What were they thinking when designing this controller!! 😡
