Mom Who Confronted Starbucks Barista: 'Everyone Needs to Know What She Did'

- A mom who made headlines when she accused a Starbucks employee of ripping off her debit card is speaking out about her now-viral video. The footage of Juana Martinez confronting the young woman at the Starbucks drive-thru has been viewed nearly two million times on RUclips. She drove back to the Starbucks near Los Angeles with her husband recording the confrontation on his cellphone. The worker made no attempt to deny the accusations. The young woman apologizes repeatedly. #InsideEdition

Right she was just saying anything that came to mind to try to get out of it
Right?!? Like inconvenient is an understatement, this girl literally stole from this woman who needs that money to feed her kids and pay her bills but it's only "inconvenient"🙄🙄🙄 I get that this girl might've been in a tough spot and needed money for groceries but stealing is not the way to get that money. I've been there when money was tight so I get where she was at but I always always found a way to make it work, I became a crazy coupon lady, really made sure I was spending wisely, and picked up odd jobs at my school that didn't truly impact my existing schedule.
@@kellyb6198 I take that "Thou Shall Not Steal" didn't apply to that employee!
she just wanted to avoid accountability at all costs
Funny thing is she ended up not pressing charges on her. She felt getting fired and the online shaming was enough. So even though she got robbed she still felt compassion and mercy.
Ultimately, Ms. Martinez didn't get robbed. The credit card company refunded the money. But the "good child" still ended up with $212 worth of stuff. Who paid for that? WE did!
@@pricklypear7516 the big corporation who rips of the general public for the right of owning a credit card. That 212 dollars was covered with interest and late fees from the millions who use credit. So yes you're right in the fact that we likely did pay for it. But if the lesson is learned and she never does it again isn't it worth it? Mercy is never free it is always sacrifice either your ego or finances. The one who shows mercy pays for it but that makes them the most amazing individual you can possibly be around. And who knows maybe in the future she will also show mercy because she was shown some which is of benefit to us as a society.
@@anthonymacrobert4075 That's not how it works, Robert. The vendor who accepted the bogus transaction has to eat the loss. But they don't, of course. They just pass the losses on to the HONEST customers in the form of higher prices. I'm not faulting Ms. Martinez for choosing not to press charges. But "mercy" in the face of irresponsibility just fosters more irresponsibility. The barista showed her capacity for "mercy" when she ripped off a young woman and her family. Next time, she will just be more clever.
@@pricklypear7516 you know what given that no police report was filed starbucks likely will be the one to give the money back. @@pricklypear7516 nah she got robbed dlckhead.
The girl didn’t just do this to her, she’s just the only one that realized it.
Yes that is so true, and it’s so scary. How many people has she done this to that either won’t find out about this theft, won’t understand where there money is gone, or won’t know how to get it back? $200 is a lot of money for some people.
Right smh ppl think they slick these days
Yeah she may have done this to others and they just assume that they over spent somewhere and couldnt recall.
Kudos to this woman for being alert of her finances.
I worked at Starbucks when I was 18 and we had a barista that did this same thing. She took a customer's gift card and put the balance on her own card, then told the customer their gift card was empty. The customer knew what happened, that was $100 on the card, so she came back later and told the manager. The barista was caught and fired. She had stolen a ton of other things before that, we all knew she did it.
They should have at least check her phone tho there might be a pictures of some people's credit card numbers
The sad thing is, she could have done this to several other people in the past but they didn't notice their money missing. Nobody is sorry unless they get caught.
True. That girl wasnt sorry at all. She was afraid the woman would press charges against her.
Even if they did notice , the banks usually don't investigate too hard, they refund your money and consumers end up paying
But she's a good child!

“You come to Starbucks to get coffee, not to get robbed!” Anyone going to Starbucks gets robbed by their prices. Good for this woman for standing up and calling out this soccer playing thief.
“We’re gonna get EVEN” chileeeee I thought she was gonna start throwing hands
Well she bout 23 now I wonder if she can find a proper job without her bad background for stealing 💀💀
damn, that's scary. She probably has to move to a different country.
@@1622roma The fact that the video went viral probably made it harder
@@Mrs.pinkalicious A good background check with first-hand video!
i guess you could say she got cancelled LMBO!!!
@@lilmrscutsie4524 Damn she been cancelled from getting a good job, that’s tuff 💀💀
you can always tell from the eyes if the person is genuinely sorry or not, here i don't see the 19y/o having any guilt in he eyes, the first reacting she has is anger if you look at her eyes closely, she's almost staring down at her.
I’m a “good child” *i play soccer*
Oh snap I’m so sorry take money anytime
Gabi Dow she was trying to personify herself and try to make the person feel for her somehow
Women: oh snap, you play soccer.
Starbucks employee: yeah....
Women: take my real card. Your gonna need it 😌
Why is this lady being so harsh to the employee... like she said she plays soccer...what more do you want
Ikr lol 😂😂😂
@@backupforchinesedoll6095 wow it is nice to see people not able to read sarcasm! Nice to meet you ...
Hahaha I mean she's only 19 and a good child. A 19 year old child. Correction A good 19 year old child.
@@wangy no no no no your wrong. A toddler.
Lmfaoo
Imagine her getting mad at the wrong person😥
How do you know its the wrong girl?
No one should have to go through this
Can't believe all of the people in this comment section defending this little thief. "She bought groceries, she must be poor", blah blah blah. Someone once took my entire paycheck when they got my card number. I had a 4-year-old that would have gone hungry that pay period had it not been for a coworker loaning me $200 to buy food. There is no good reason to steal. She had a job, and still took money from a mother and her kids. Screw recording her, I would have had her ass thrown in jail.
and if u being in a bad situation. than you know the feeling of worried. she must be in a really hard time and tbh that job dont pay you much but 7.25 cuz she has part time job so she wouldnt get pay as much
Complaining isn't gonna do shit 😂
Nobody complaining👌👌👌😉😉😉😛
+Daniela Lopez but why steal when you can earn it yourself
+Edmund Leong so she should steal from a mother and a her child?
Police: PUT YO HANDS UP
Me: WHATEVER I DID, DONT WORRY, I PLAY SOCCER ⚽️
Chloe Plays police: oh ok
Oh it’s cool guys! She plays soccer!
Police: Well why didn’t you say so!?
Chloe Plays 😂😂😂
Police: Oh ok you is good
Chloe Plays you mean football
She is not a Karen, Karens argue for no reason, she has a very good reason to fight back what has been done to her.
"You come to starbucks to get coffee, not to get robbed!!!" I felt that one for real.
Starbucks Employee girl: *Gets in Random person's car*
Person: Hey that's my car!
Starbucks Employee Girl: No it's ok I'm 19 and I play Soccer!
Person: Oh ok
Courtney Anderson
*Stabs person*
Police: FREEZE! HANDS IN THE AIR!
Me: no wait! I play soccer!
Police: we'll let you off this time...
Courtney Anderson 😂😂
How did this “I play soccer” not become a meme? Lmao
Courtney Anderson
*Murders 20 people*
*At court*
Judge:ADMIT YOU DID IT
Girl:Im 19 i play soccer
Jury:Not guilty
😂😂😂😂
"im 19 and i play soccer" why do we need to know that?
sama games because that’s the excuse to get out of jail
she trying to make herself look like your typical outgoing college student as an excuse to not get sued. like a way of saying "show mercy to me"
sama games I know right I was like so 🙄
sama games what else is she supposed to use to defend herself at court 😂
That’s embarrassing, you never know who you’re messing with! For every action there is a reaction.
“Your actions have consequences, consequences that affect other people” Benson (Regular Show)
No lady, that's exactly why people go to Starbucks- to get robbed.
😐
Bruh. You n yo broke ass.
What you don't make sense. At all. 😐
😂😂😂
somehow i laugh at this. well... premium coffee bought from store is... always robbing wallets
I feel robbed every time I go there.
Oh wow
What does playing soccer has to do with an employee of Starbucks stealing someone identity by stealing money from a card?
she probably thinks it makes her look innocent
It's the greatest game ever. Watch it
oOf . OnE of these. 1:49
Because she thinks that she could make it and pay that woman back with that money
