There were times when service worker would mistake me for a woman and address me as 'ma'am'. I always took it in stride and found it amusing rather than offensive, because I had a firm sense of my own masculinity and didn't need external affirmation of my gender identity.

They opened up an investigation, I hired a lawyer, since this wasn't a judicial case but a disciplinary action within the school board I was found guilty. Unbeknownst to me was the fact that they (the school board) could find me guilty despite the evidence I presented. My lawyer knew this all along but only told me a month before I received the decision so that during the 7 month duration of the case he could continue to charge me. Technically there is. As a woman, I have had people call me "sir" before on accident. When I wear my hair down, it softens my face and there is no mistaking what I am, but when I pull it back, my features are strong, not softly pretty, so at a glance, I am not traditionally feminine through the face. So I have had people more than once just call me "sir" at a glance when I simply throw my hair up instead of taking the time to wear it down. Of course, I am not so personally affronted by things that I make a big deal out of it. Mistakes get made, and I know I'm not a glamor queen.

In the Philippines, we dont have a concept of he/she as pronouns. We always use "they" thats why since Eng is not our main language, we often mix He/She. I was a secondary school teacher for 26 years. Last year I called a 15 year old girl "HER" once, only once. They opened up an investigation, I hired a lawyer, since this wasn't a judicial case but a disciplinary action within the school board I was found guilty. Unbeknownst to me was the fact that they (the school board) could find me guilty despite the evidence I presented. My lawyer knew this all along but only told me a month before I received the decision so that during the 7 month duration of the case he could continue to charge me. I'm 56 years old and I left teaching because I refuse to disregard objective reality. We NEED TO UNITE, TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THEIR LIVES DESTROYED BECAUSE SOMEONE FEELS OFFENDED.

Technically there is. As a woman, I have had people call me "sir" before on accident. When I wear my hair down, it softens my face and there is no mistaking what I am, but when I pull it back, my features are strong, not softly pretty, so at a glance, I am not traditionally feminine through the face. So I have had people more than once just call me "sir" at a glance when I simply throw my hair up instead of taking the time to wear it down. Of course, I am not so personally affronted by things that I make a big deal out of it. Mistakes get made, and I know I'm not a glamor queen.

In the Philippines, we dont have a concept of he/she as pronouns. We always use "they" thats why since Eng is not our main language, we often mix He/She.
