Inside Edition Producer Goes Undercover to Deliver Amazon Packages

  • Amazon delivers billions of packages a year, but how do those packages get to your door? In some cases, they're transported by independent contractors, who sign up online to deliver packages. They’re required to have a valid license, pass a background check and review a series of safety training videos. But a number of serious and fatal accidents involving drivers delivering packages for Amazon have raised questions about whether the drivers are rushing to deliver the packages on time. #InsideEdition

I guarantee in my area 99 percent of cars doing unsafe things that I see is a Uber or Lyft driver. They just stop in the middle of the road to pick up or drop off passenger jumping out into traffic. I understand this when there is no where to safely park but I see most of the time there is a curve parking literally right next to them and they park in the middle of the road.

As a one time Amazon deliver driver I can tell you straight out that Amazon the company really doesn’t care about there employees as long as the packages reach there destinations. The company has such a turn overrate you would not believe. It’s not uncommon for a driver to be given a delivery route with 200 plus stops and told to be done as a specific time. And there is so much coming into warehouses for packages it’s unreal, it’s easy to see how it can be overwhelming. Don’t agree with the speeding but the general public and media really know nothing.

Im an Amazon Delivery driver and yes you can deliver 32 packages in 3 hours. I deliver 45 packages in an hour. Of course it would be hard for someone to deliver packages fast. When you start with Amazon you don't get loaded with 32 packages. How I deliver packages fast is that I run to and from the delivery van. The more you get used to delivering packages you learn how to setup your route in order when you know what your next package is that your going to deliver. Also, every time im driving I do obey the laws of the street signs and speed limits. So, if your a new driver you won't be able to deliver 32 packages in 3 hours. So when a news station or whoever drive with an experienced Amazon delivery and you will see that it is possible to deliver 32 packages in less then 3 hours.

Being a medical courier, I can see how much of a ripoff this is. $54 is not worth all of that time to deliver packages, and not to mention that the drivers aren't given money for gas and wear and tear for their vehicles! Amazon is a trillion dollar company. There's no reason they can't give their drivers extra pay for this. This is why I only work with companies that will pay me for wear and tear, with gas, for my vehicle. I got ripped off once. Never again...

I’ve had Amazon delivery drivers zoom up onto my driveway, which a portion is obscured by bushes. The driver ran out, and threw the package at my door.
Hell, if the package is heavy, they’ll just leave it at the foot of your driveway.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable, and Amazon should be held accountable for the conditions they put their staff in.
