  • When visiting Italy for the first time, these are some of the most important things to know for your trip. My ten tips will make your vacation or holiday in Italy much easier and more enjoyable. Learn key phrases in Italian, when to expect to eat dinner, what to do when taking the train or bus that will make sure you don't get a €50 fine, and more.

    Very good advice.. I suggest that if you want to see beautiful islands an beaches to take a trip to Sicily or Sardinia, and Bari, in the Apulia (Puglia) region has beautiful beaches, full of rock in contrast to sand. Overall our country is so beautiful and everyone should be able to enjoy it

    It's also great to rent a car in Italy! We've done it, and we're going to do it again this month. You have your freedom, roads are great, it's not even that expensive at all. And no stressing about train schedules and carrying your luggage everywhere

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  6 лет назад

      Yup! I don't recommend having them in the major cities though. Parking is tough and expensive, plus navigating through cities can be very hard (or expensive, like in Florence, you need a permit)

    Off to Europe next week. Will just be hitting up Florence and Rome for my first eurotrip. Will no doubt be keen to go back and explore Italy in more detail in the future.
    Learning basics of each country is something I like to do. Locals always appreciate it and you can even make friends ;)
    For my trip I am learning basic French, Italian, German, Czech and Ukrainian. Seemed a bit overwhelming at first but I understand subtleties of each language now.

    Had a great 10 days in Florence. Did a museums-art gallery-churches-palaces marathon during that time, eating only street food (Lampredotto!), walking up to Piazzale Michelangelo spending hours there, and waiting 4 hours for the sun to set and lights to come on at the Ponte Vecchio. Only disappointment is that there seem to be only a handful of buildings with Sgraffito facades there - Sgraffito being a popular wall-decor technique during the Renaissance.

    Hey thanks, this is a really nice kickstarter video to visiting Italy. Would be visiting Venice, Florence and Rome with day trips to Cinque Terre, Pisa and Tuscany region. Also looking to see if I can squeeze in Pompeii. Looking to explore the countryside and local culture more than the touristy destinations. Any tips on that, specially Florence and around?

      Pranay Krishnan Pompei and Ercolano are the best places to explore in italy. A real miracle of history that you don't find in other places in whole world! I suggest you to visit them.

    I've been wanting to go there for years (at least 5) and In 3,5 months I'm flying *jumps from excitement*. First I'll be in Rome, because I want to go to Rainbow Magicland. Then I'm going to go to Sardegna and stay there for half a week, after that Sicilia for a week (because every boat that fits my plans only leaves on friday) and then the last days will be in Napoli from where I want to visit Pompeii. Still planning what exactly I want to do, but the entire trip, meaning travel and hotels, is planned since the beginning of december. I am so enormously exited! =D
    Anche, io imparo italiano e posso parlare la lingua passabile. Credo che non sarà una problema.

    If you want, you can visit the south of Italy. I live in Puglia( is a region) and everyday i can find new views to visit and new local foods to taste. There is an amazing seaside similar to Carribea. I think that is a nice place to visit. I'm sorry for my English, i'm not very good :)

    About Taxis and stuff, it's not because the Taxi system is complicated, it's because it is not developed AT ALL. In italy it's much more common to take buses. So if you Wanna travel around you buy a ticket in a newsstand/cafe (they usually sell them) and take the bus (if you find the right bus driver you can also buy a ticket from him, but be careful because of they catch you with no ticket you Will have to pay like 50€). Trust me, I Know it because i'm italian :)

      +Ale il Pezzo I always found the bus system so confusing and have gotten so lost on them before!

    I didn't find that to be the case about shops and places closing. Just saying...Also, I was there in September and was in the water in the Cinque Terre swimming with the Nonas. Not too cold. Wonderful place to be though. Loved it all.
