Hey everyone! If any of you are headed to Venice, check out this new Venice tips video I just published with more specific advice :) ruclips.net/video/PG6Jb3FpLdo/видео.html
I’m going on my first trip to Italy later this year and this video just relieved so much anxiety I’ve been having, thank you SO much for all the in depth info and tips !
Hi there! It's incredible how we connect with strangers in unexpected ways. Although I don't usually do this, I couldn't help but reach out to you after seeing your comment. Could you tell me what you like to do in your spare time?
I just came from Italy I had long flight from saudi stop in london for 10 days then paris for business then Italy vication ( it was just beyond my whole expectations lovely friendly people keep smiling to tourist and service at highest level ) Thanks Italy 🇮🇹 from saudi
Great job on this video Christina. Really well researched and presented, and the tips you gave, would make for a mostly hassle-free experience. Visitors can also look into special events that are happening during the time of their visit, and take advantage of those, especially in smaller villages. Wine festivals, or pasta making workshops, really get you to experience the culture from a grounded perspective, since you interact with the locals more, and get a better understanding of the local lifestyle. (Just my 2cents.)
This is so helpful! I sent it to my husband and demanded he watch it ahead of our trip so he won't get too much of a culture shock. Thank you so much Christina :)
Can I just say. This video was executed perfectly. Now this is what you call a travel guide ! This is so helpful. Planning for our honeymoon trip and this made everything so much easier ! ❤Thank you!
Watching it in italy on my honeymoon!! It's amazing, but transportation is a little confusing and chaotic, I wish I had watched this video in advance haha
Ok I have to say I've been looking at a ton of Italy videos and this one by far is the best I've viewed! Fast, informative, and thorough! These are tips that are actually helpful. Thank you
I like the video! Is there a way to slow the video down?? Or is this your normal speaking because it's hard to follow. I kept having to go back and listen to it again and again.🙄 I see that a lot of other people have mentioned this as well, I know this video is one year old. I will have to check out your current videos to see if you're speaking the same speed that would prevent me from subscribing . Just FYI.😉🙂
I went to Italy in 2015 I went to the touristy spots Sorrento, Rome and Capri Island for my first time traveling international anywhere it was my top country to see next to Greece I did these two together had a amazing time. I definitely want to go back and visit the lesser known areas I love hidden gems I'm not a crowds person definitely love traveling shoulder or off season I just worry about it raining a lot which I hate but overall Italy is a beautiful country.
Pamela, my wife and I are headed to Venice later this month and she is coming back by herself in late Sept. One of the things we want to do is take the train from Venice, to Florence and then onto Rome. Christina advise not to get the tickets at the train station, so where is the best place to buy them?
I am traveling to Rome for the first time, and we are all so excited. This video was so helpful, So thank you for sharing your experience with us all. Please keep them coming.
Great tips!! Most comprehensive I've seen so far❤. I lived in Italy for 6 months with a family and they really didn't serve me that much food which was surprising and so I went to the local convenience store and they have food set out, just olives and munchies and it was free. ( I bought a beer so as not to be rude) Really helped me through the day.
Hi there, It's incredible how we connect with strangers in unexpected ways. Although I don't usually do this, I couldn't help but reach out to you after seeing your comment. Could you tell me what you like to do in your spare time?
I finally started my channel for travel and it’s been a nervous journey so far haha. The community has been awesome so far and I look forward to this process
My parents surprised my bf and me with a one week trip to cagliari in april for my 18th bday and since both of us havent been in italy, this vid was very helpful!
This is the first video I have watched that is very informative and helpful to someone that is just starting to travel now that she has time for herself😊
Hey everyone - hope you all enjoy this video about Italy travel tips!! Feel free to comment any more tips I might have missed & check out the written version of this guide for more: happytowander.com/italy-travel-tips/
Bonjourno! Thank you for the video. We are retired American educators considering moving to Italy with our social security and my teacher's pensions to qualify for the Early Retirement Visa ERV. We hope to tour the country in the spring. Grazie! Dean & Cindy
This video is amazing and you said the trust. I live in Italy and i asw you've been to my city cause i saw the video piazza del ferrari Genova, beautiful city. great video
In Florence we got stuck with the bracelet scam. I was so frustrated, because I knew what was happening but I wasn't supposed to leave the group (it was a high school trip and it was our free time, with the condition we stayed with our groups) and one of the guys in the group didn't think he would ever get scammed. I didn't lose any money or get pick pocketed, but some of the group were pressured into giving up some money. I still have the little bracelet 😂

If you want your coffee at the bar, I learned that you ask for it "Al banco", and you'll pay around €1.50 instead of let's say €4 at a table inside or more on the terrace outside.
This video was super helpful!! Ps I like the fast talking because my brain runs on high speed - if other viewers want to slow it down just use the speed controls in the gear icon!
Happy Wander, I love all your videos. I am traveling to Rome in April with my husband we are not young 64 and 63 so we walk slow 🤣🤣🤣 Hotels are so expensive. What area should I look at Airbnb maybe safe area in Rome? 😬
Congrats for the gelato tip. I was just saying this to a friend of mine last week but I thought that was a super niche thing to know or realise: NEVER get a gelato from a shop that displays you the flashy gelato flavours. NEVER. Normal Gelaterie keep their gelato hidden - never displayed- and have it of mild/natural colour . And this is also one of the reason why I really cannot find decent gelato outside Italy (living abroad). They are all usually not good. The whole set up is usually wrong (and receipts)
My husband and I love your videos and we are planning to go out on our own in August/September and he has just had knee replacement surgery. Do you have a video that would help us find less touristy areas and more slow paced for a couple of country bumpkins?
No pizza for lunch! Don’t get yelled at like we did. 😂 Also, a ROSE peddler in ROME stuffed roses into my bag as I walked away. He tried to get money from my son, who said, No, give them back! 😂 I laughed because mama has the cash! Can’t wait to go back! 🇮🇹❤️
Thank you so much for this video, it was perfect timing for me as I am going to meet my daughter in Italy during her school break the first of march. However it will be cold and most video's are locations to go in the summer. Do you have any favorite places that would be great in the cold?
Thank you so much!!! We're planning a September trip and this information is so helpful! I know you're not a big fan of Air Bnb anymore but what is the best lodging option for a family of 6? ( 4 adult children)
Hello Christina. Thank you so much for your video. I am planning an upcoming trip to Venice and your video could not have come at a better time. :) quick question. You mentioned that you did a sunrise tour in Venice a few years ago. Would you happen to have the tour operator information?
Something that I actually found out about the food in Italy specifically with spaghetti and meatballs….they actually do have it over there, it’s just served separately so if you ask for it, you’ll just be asking for spaghetti and the meatballs will come on the side.
Not only Abruzzo but also in Apulia (it is a common family dish). Meatballs in this region are displayed on top of pasta. They are called "polpette" or "polpettine" (when they are smaller). It's common especially in a small region of Apulia called "Salento". PS : I apologise for my poor English.
