The veterinary hospital will operate 24-hours and out-patient services will be provided from 8 am to 2 pm on all days and casualty service from 2 pm to 8 am.The Multi-Speciality Veterinary hospital and Research Centre is planned at Kudappanakkunnu and it will have ambulance services, critical care units, in-patient services, infertility clinics and specialised labs.The out-patient clinic will have 4 departments - clinical medicine, surgery, gynaecology and preventive medicine. The Veterinary Clinic will function as a referral centre and a researching centre. The hospital consists of operation theatres, a library, pharmacy, isolation wards and an inoculation and health clinic. It will also have services like digital X-ray, ultra sound scanning, CT scan, physiotherapy, dentistry, ophthalmology and laparoscopy.According to Animal Husbandry Department, specialised services like major surgeries on small and large animals, artificial insemination, modern pregnancy diagnostic procedures, and infertility clinic will be carried out at the hospital.The hospital will be headed by an officer of the rank of Additional Director, Animal Husbandry and will have 68 technical staff, 44 non-technical staff and 21 contract staff. Currently round the clock veterinary services or critical care units are not available in the state.
