    Call of Duty WW2 has some sweaty players and Wager matches do get heated sometimes, but last night's police murder was extreme. The short version is, one player swatted another over a $2 match and he ended up shot by police. This video about the details of the event, Swatting as a crime, a little bit about the person responsible, and some person stories about the police killing my dog along with my fear of being swatted.

    I'm flabbergasted at the amount of people that aren't taking this seriously and don't care. This is the definition of tragic. I hope the people responsible are charged to the full extent of the law.

    • @TKO9871
      @TKO9871 6 лет назад +2

      Zuxtra the full extent of the law is the death penalty or life sentence which is a bit too much for a prank gone wrong but i agree there should be a fairly severe punishment for this

      Roman Fanboy No1 Vince Mcmahon A prank gone wrong? Swatting is not a joke or a prank. It is something extremely serious that can take someones life as it happened here. Only stupid people who want 5 minutes of fame on the internet and want to somewhat feel superior. Death penalty honestly seems fair to discourage people from doing this.

      Roman Fanboy No1 Vince Mcmahon a prank? Sending law enforcement as deadly as the swat to someone’s house shouldn’t be ever considered a prank and this whole situation shows why if you think swatting is considered a prank you need to be in jail as well

    Hopefully there's serious ramifications over this. A lot of major RUclipsrs/streamers have had to do things like notify pizza, police, and other delivery services because of "prank" calls in advance. It's not only a huge waste of time and resources for the cops but it's now just gotten someone not even involved killed.

    The kid who made the fake call should be charged with manslaughter, or if the state allows, 1st degree murder. Some states do allow that if you plan to break the law, break the law and a person dies as a result, 1st degree murder could be charged.

    The penalty for calling in the SWAT teams should be prosecuted for the crime they called in. Guy calls in " i just killed my wife and have my kids hostage" Then they should face the charges for murder and false imprisonment. 1 charge of 25 to life and a false imprisonment charge which since in this false narrative would probably be considered a felony can lead to 20 years. That might be one way to deter these assholes

      @MrNewbhero 6 лет назад +22

      Every swatting should be attempted murder (if nobody is hurt) or murder when someone is killed. Also, when the swat member kills someone because they panicked, they should also be penalized. If the swat member is so terrified that she or he will shoot first as erring in the side of caution, they should consider working at Walmart or somewhere else instead. The erring on the side of caution should be towards civilian safety over the cop’s safety since the cops are paid highly to protect the civilians, not the other way around.

    • @AngryOrphanGirl
      @AngryOrphanGirl 6 лет назад +18

      It's not that simple since a swat officer, or any law enforcement is trained to take down a possible threat to prevent any harm to the officers, bystanders, or even the suspect themselves. If a person reaches down to their waist for any reason after a swat team gets a report of a possible gun threat, they have a fair reason to assume that the suspect is reaching for a gun. It really blows and it's tragic, but it's required to keep the officers and others safe. If cops were more laid back, and say this guy did actually have a gun he could've wounded or killed an officer. That's not a chance they're trained to take, sad but required for the greater good. If it weren't for liitle shits like the swatter, this wouldn't be a debate really since these cops followed procedure properly.

      Mathew, I understand the fun in doing it but if police were professionals and not trigger happy, no one that is innocent and unarmed should ever get killed over a prank. Deadly force is to be used only as a last resort. The cop used deadly force against an innocent unarmed man, not justifiable usage.

    • @KittenWarlock
      @KittenWarlock 6 лет назад +12

      Filing a false police report in this situation is a felony. If someone dies during the commission of a felony you are committing then you are guilty of their murder, whether you intended for them to die or not.

    • @jerrydickerson1111
      @jerrydickerson1111 6 лет назад

      Their is a prosecutorial argument that he knew one of the consequences could have resulted in death so knowing that and doing it anyway could be construed as intent in sort the felony murder doctrine as an example is you rob a bank with a gun the gun goes off and kills someone even if you had no intent in killing that person by you bringing a gun you showed an intent to possibly use lethal force so you can be charged with first degree murder under the felony murder doctrine the same principle can be applied to this case

    • @jerrydickerson1111
      @jerrydickerson1111 6 лет назад

      because there is no way he could have not known that the cops could have killed someone and the knowledge of that can be enough to prove intent

    • @KittenWarlock
      @KittenWarlock 6 лет назад +4

      Under the felony murder doctrine they don't even have to show intent. They just have to prove that the death was caused by the defendant engaging in a felony. Since filing a false report is a felony in this situation, that would mean he is guilty of murder regardless of if they can prove intent.

      Darth Cerebus Yeah, of course it's a bad idea to reach for your waist when there's guns pointed at you. Everybody should know not to do that and be cautious around police with guns out, so I can understand the police's side if they are acting out of self defense and to protect the other officers. I'm pretty sure the man shot in the incident Drift0r is speaking about did his best to come off as peaceful and follow their directions as best he could.

      Not necessarily. Not everyone calls the police about everything. In fact I remember learning some time ago about a case where a woman in some city was hurt or dying and she screamed for quite some time, but she died because nobody bothered enough to call the police. It does happen.

      People keep themselves away from incidents so they can have a degree of separation. 99% of the population will freeze and rather be bystanders.
      Like how self defense classes teach women to yell "FIRE FIRE" instead of "HELP" because literally nobody goes to help when screams are heard.

      Zimbabwai POV Don't ignore it but take it with a grain of salt, especially since there was claims of a gunshot yet the neighbours didn't make any reports.
      Edit: I'm not sure how it is in the states but in Canada (in the communities I've lived in) the neighbors will debate calling the cops in a heartbeat if they think violence will take place.

      Both right. I get why he shot - but with so many officers surrounding, they should have waited to SEE a gun, or anything in his hand before firing. If they begin to see him draw (no suspect) - they can kill him before he gets the opportunity, I mean they already had their guns drawn, and there were heaps of officers, there is no way the man could have drawn a gun and fired in this time.

    Tip if you're swatted: Interlace your fingers and put your hands on top of your head, and listen to commands. If you can't understand the commands, stay still with your hands on your head until you can understand. As an officer, that's the best thing you can possibly do. Stay safe. The FBI needs to start charging more for this, maybe this incident will jump start something.

    LEO here, I'm not sure how departments handle things where you live, but the dept I work for, you can contact the local non emergency number and talk to dispatchers. You can ask to speak with the dispatchers supervisor and then explain the situation and your profession. (Include the stories and articles about this latest death that resulted from swatting) and ask for your residence to be flagged for something like this. We have the ability to see certain precautions and flags that are tied with a residence. You should be able to get further by calling the dispatchers with the non emergency number, rather than going to a police station itself.

    Both the guy who did the swatting, and the guy who hired him should face charges, and thats how it always should be, if I hired a hitman, I would get charged right alonside the guy, this isnt a harmless prank, its not just putting someones life on the line, its wasting the policies time, while they are out there, dealing with that, a real threat could arise and they cant help, also doesnt help cops in the US have got twitchy as hell and a little trigger happy but in this case its not a matter of police shot an innocent guy, its a case of two people caused the death of an innocent man over a petty bet and a twisted desire to mess with people, what the hell is wrong with people

      I'm not a fan of any kind of government official or representative, as I think they're either unnecessary or easily replaceable, but the situation doesn't give a lot of time for thinking, questioning, or anything.
      In this case, they were assuming a teen was holding a gun to his sister and mother, wondering whether or not to pull the trigger.
      While, yes, it does sound like an itchy trigger finger, I haven't seen the video yet and can't determine whether the twitch was small or alarming.
      Either way, their job is to save lives, and in most cases, shooting has gotten less people killed than taking too long to think.
      I never take the cops side, but this situation just seems terrible and anxious, and don't think anyone there was entirely in their right mind.

He only shot once so no he didn't do it just to kill some one.

    $2 is the result of rounding up $1.50. Come on man.
    The cop is no way at fault unless he used unnecessary violence onto the victim that did not indicate any threat. From this video the pro swatter is at fault as well as the one who hired him. They are not innocent. They should full well know that death is a possibility. They understood that this person would die. And if they claim they didn't then ignorance is not a valid defense. The swatters are at fault. Not the cop until further proof shows he used unnecessary action.
    (If there I'd body cam footage please let me know)

    Drift0r, I work in public safety, and although we have not had any swatting done at our agency or any local agency's I can tell you we've had numerous discussions about it, and we are trying to find a solution to responding, unfortunately, we must take every call serious and we respond to every call as if it where real, the moment we don't take a call serious is the time someone actually does die, or an officer is killed. This is horrible, my heart goes out to all the families effected by this. Take care man!

  • @g3miniuk999

    Your country`s gun culture creates scenario where a "twitchy" policeman takes no chances when entering a house baited or not, I cannot blame any Officer for that because his/her own life is at serious risk. I used to dream of visiting the states as a youngster but I very rarely ever hear anything positive about your country and its almost every week I hear the same sad tales told, its very sad really. The real issue here is an ancient reliance on firearms, and how firearms raise the odds of someone dying in these kinds of circumstances. (Unlike the UK) To me the US is almost stuck in this wild west era shoot to kill or shoot or be shot. I pity the day I am forced to buy a firearm, only for the reason that I have to one day use it in fear.

    • @hsb_snake8151
      @hsb_snake8151 6 лет назад +17

      G3mini Uk I’d rather have a gun to defend myself from a threat in the US than have some guy run up to me with a knife, stab me to death and hope some cop with a baton and pepper spray stops him in the UK. America is not the Wild West where everyone can die at any moment. We’re not lawless criminals who use guns to kill everything. We were given guns by the constitution to defend ourselves from threats and intruders and law-abiding citizens use our rights to use guns as self defense and the criminals go against the gun laws put in place and use guns to kill for no reason.

    • @hsb_snake8151
      @hsb_snake8151 6 лет назад +4

      And why do you pity the day you’d need to buy a gun to protect yourself? You’re ashamed of yourself to want to protect you and any civilian in danger?

    • @g3miniuk999
      @g3miniuk999 6 лет назад +1

      See thats the deep set mentality I was on about...always aggression always have a gun in my holster ready to draw pow pow pow....take it from me you guys need to lose that mentality because how these events are covered in the media and how frequently they are covered shames your country rightly or wrongly. the culture of "I need a gun to defend myself". I never said just because you have guns you want to kill everything. The point I`m making is that in the uk we have knife crime but its in minor pockets of society and the vast majority of police dont need guns....there`s just no need for them. The fact that we know all know Drift0r to be a normal guy sleeping with a pistol in fear reinforces my point and it is a terribly sad thing...you might not be wild west killers buddy but when we in Europe hear day in day out about this kind of thing...we just cannot fathom how it persistently happens over and over again

    • @g3miniuk999
      @g3miniuk999 6 лет назад

      Completely agree with you Paradox anything can be used as a weapon but Im not talking about good old days Im talking about now. there was a situation that escalated into completely unfair, unwarranted and dangerous scenario because when the Swatter called the police "I`m holding a GUN at my Mother and Brother". With firearms mentioned it then becomes life and death for ALL those implicated. All Im saying is that the US is viewed a very dangerous place to be because of it and its sad because The US and The UK are very old friends. I too hope all involved get locked up and never see the light of day

    • @g3miniuk999
      @g3miniuk999 6 лет назад +1

      nothing to do with being ashamed and this is the biggest thing people in the US just dont get. There is simply no need for me to buy a gun to to protect myself or any other civilian in this country. We have a culture when guns arent a big deal and therefore less people are shot and killed, any situation involving any kind of police incident has a much lower risk that some poor coppers gonna end up killing someone because its either him or me or the guy went to scratch his arse nervously. I assure you my friend If I were in a war zone and it was protect myself or civilians I would...Im not in a warzone though.

His arms are shaking, he's afraind. ~ 3-4 seconds to get a gun from behind, point at 1 cop and shoot him vs a (looks like not) trained police"man", who has a gun pointed at a guy, must have good reaction time + average reaction time in the world is less than 1 second, so he should have enough time to see that there's no gun.

The suspect called in on kansas police portraying as the victim saying he had hostages,armed,and had gas surrounding the house. A guy has lost his life for commiting no crime, his family have been ripped apart at such a festive time of the year for nothing. This is outrageous and he who made this call should be countable for this crime along with the person that paid him. It is soul destroying to know something so special as a life can be snatch away by $2 bet, a video game, a sore lower and a child. I hope the outcome of this can bring his family some sort of peace.

    I knew a Museum employee by the name of Herb Norfolk who worked in this field and used all the SWAT issue weapons described in this video years ago and was part of a private company and before which in the Army as a Sgt and let me tell you those who are in these groups do serious business and if someone makes a false call regarding a fake emergency it can spell a life or death situation. It's sad that people are like this to have what they want by doing these horrific things.

    I'm honestly surprised Drift0r didn't blame the cop who pulled the trigger? If you watch the video, it's obvious; dude comes outside, puts his hands up, is blinded by a spotlight, tries to shield his eyes, and is shot. For one, the cops are across the street behind car cover with AR15's. For two, they didn't know if the man who came out was the younger brother, or even another innocent man not mentioned in the call. For three, even if it was a real threat, you have a group of men with assault rifles trained on this man, if he had a pistol, like inferred (Pointing the gun at his family while talking on the phone, clean headshot enough to tell there's no breath.) and would have had to have if he walked outside not carrying anything, then he would have had to reach to his waist, draw the gun, hit someone behind cover at ~50 yards away. (anyone who has ever shot a pistol knows that is a hard shot even with proper form and some time) The cop murdered someone due to his negligence.
    Of course, the real blame goes to the hiring person, the swatter, and the address provider, but ultimately the police failed too, they just happened to be the one that knocked over that house of cards.

    20 years of jail for the responsible kid, lifetime jail for the swatter, 5 years of social service for the kid who posted the address, policeman who shot kicked out.
    That's how this should be handled. It should set an example.

    Drift0r, I'd suggest making an appointment to talk with an officer and inform them you will be bringing a laptop with you. Then bring explain to them what swatting is if they don't already know (It sounds like you've tried before though), and if they don't get it, pull up some swatting videos that show what it is, and what's happened before. If they understand what it is from that point, give them your number and request that if any reports come from your house to call you and that you'll wait outside with your wife and brother, and that you'll have your dogs in the car or something, and you'll be where they can see you when they arrive.
    It's a compromise that will allow the officers to still arrive and do their job, but will also hopefully protect you and your family.
    I'm sure you know of Professor Broman, but if not, I'd suggest looking up his most recent video where he goes over what he's done to help protect himself and his family in case someone swatted him, and how he's gotten it to work where he's lived twice now.

    "A rule of criminal statutes that any death which occurs during the commission of a felony is first degree murder, and all participants in that felony or attempted felony can be charged with and found guilty of murder." This means if two people rob a gas station and the clerk or one of the customers shoots and kills one of the robbers the other robber is charged with first degree murder; the same applies when anyone dies no matter who killed who, the assailant or assailants are charged with first degree murder.

    That person didn't have any idea what's going on outside his house. Police was briefed by dispatch as per the prunk caller. Caller said he was in the house killed his father and kept hostage everyone else while he was actually 1,400 hundred miles away from the adress he gave. It's a shame they didn't bother to locate the caller. And the instruction they gave to the victim was not loud and clear enough for the victim to act upon. It was barely picked up by the closest recorder and the victim was at least 70 feet away. They were having all the covers and body armors to be so much worried about the victim reaching his gun. This just show you the level of training and i.q. the current bunch of law enforcement team are having.

    I am personally from the city where this took place. Wichita Kansas & here is my opinion. This is complete bs. For one this is why you never give out addresses online. For two no police or swat or fbi or whatever should just go in with guns a blazing because we live in a world where this stuff happens. And also I personally know w family member related to the guy who was murdered.. And I can not begin to explain how sorry I feel for her and her whole family. At this point she said "we can only pray for justice to be served" R. I. P Andrew finch!

    Drift0r if you fear being swatted, contact local 911 dispatch and sheriff department, ask them to put a note in CAD system that you RUclips with large following and to confirm any 3rd Party SWAT warranting call. The local police when a call goes out will see the note to atleast be aware of this. They will add a note to you address.
