- A swatting prank ended in the death of an innocent Kansas man. Father-of-two Andrew Finch was gunned down by a police officer in Wichita on Thursday. Officers responded to an anonymous call describing a "hostage situation" at Finch's address, according to the Wichita Police Department. A so-called gunman told the police department that he was holding his mother and brother hostage at gunpoint and had already shot his dad in the head inside Finch’s home. Authorities say it was all a lie. #InsideEdition
To the cops in this video: You need to go after the prank callers. The people who keep prank calling you should be brought to justice.

A few months ago there was a swatting incident in Burnaby, BC, Canada that caused a SkyTrain delay as a result. Swatting is a very mean thing to do. You’re basically asking for someone to get hurt and possibly arrested for something they didn’t even do. Being disturbed by the police when you’re innocent sucks…

it's also horrifying that this causes people to lose trust in law enforcement when they just want to do their job and protect the citizens from dangerous criminals.
Imagine being a gun owner and hearing someone bust open your door so you grab your gun and investigate to only find out it's the swat team and they immediately shoot you on site very scary
Thankfully they announce themselves pretty heavily during raids which lowers the odds of that happening by a lot

This why I am so terrified to stream or even compete online simracing. I use vr mainly, so I can't see and would not even hear them come in. I am in the US too. What makes it worse is it is not hard to track down down the caller. Your number and location show up when you call the emergency line. This is a true testament into just how blinded and stupid dispatch really is.

About 10 years ago, I had just arrived home from work and received a call from the police department asking if all was well with my son, as they’d received a report of a suicide. What the flip!! The 911 police dispatcher said two police cars were nearly at my house. I ran to my son’s room with the phone in my hand, only to discover him playing an online computer game. We met the officers outside to show he was alive and well. Turns out they had received a fake suicide call from another gamer located across the country. If I hadn’t been home, they would have busted our door down to ‘save’ him.
