Southern death cult/ death cult is when i first heard/saw then on tv..when ian had a mohawk hairstyle...my older bro's were punks back in the day(1979) so by the time this came out, it was practically mainstream pop! but this year, Death cult reformed and toured in the uk... seeing them was a dream come true!
The cult has been around since the 1970s. I saw them 1988 or 1989 they were the opening act for Metallica. I was only aware of the songs that were being played in the late 1980s. They put on a great show, but I was there to see Metallica, and they were incredible New subscriber to your channel.
I think The Cult have always been a great hard rock band. In my view they’re like a melding of AC/DC and The Doors. Ian Astbury is definitely a very spiritual person of deep beliefs- a musical shaman. And later in their career, the band went on to rock harder still.
He definitely strikes me as a shaman. Yes! I have heard one or two songs from AC/DC, and you're right. That's the perfect description of them. I like how he implements his beliefs into his music. 🎼🌌✨️

Yes. Since it came out and to this day this is my favorite song of all-time. Easy pick for me. This is a band that more people should've appreciated. Love is definitely my favorite album of their's. Oh, Ian actually sang for a reformed version of the Doors a decade or so ago. Even my dad heard it and was impressed (he was around 60 at the time). You missed the flow by stopping. Next to In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins this is my favorite song where the drums come in hard.

Saw the Death Cult in Bristol in 1983. The only time I ever saw them live. They were, however, totally bloody brilliant! Other bands I saw live at the time were Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Stranglers, New Model Army, Dead Kennedys, Anti Nowhere League and Killing Joke etc. Great times. Great start to a discography that spans several decades. The Cult is one of the icons of British new wave and goth music. Sisters of Mercy would be a good band to follow this one up. You should also check out Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure.

I saw them live in 1990, and I have met Ian (briefly)- wonderful spirit. I went to boot camp in 1989 and only got to call home twice the entire time. I was never one to be homesick, but I sure missed my music, so, on the 2nd call, I just had my sister put on the second side of "Love" to play into the phone until I was kicked off. Powerful soundtrack to a strange life.

Likely none are the best fodder for views on YT, unfortunately, but well worth delving one way or another. Their album "Dreamtime" NEVER gets mentioned or any love from ANYONE, but it's fantastic. "Spiritwalker" is one of my favorite songs of theirs, and many more gems in there, too. The first four songs are a buttery smooth punch to the face. Then there are many instructive ideas in the "Electric" album. They began recording the songs but didn't like the energy, so they hopped across the pond to work with Rick Rubin and complete the album. Those initial recordings are called "The Manor Sessions" and show how different the same songs can be just by changing music producers. Also, it introduces one to Rick- a force of nature that hasn't just worked with EVERYONE, but helped create THE breakout album of most of them. Including, obviously, The Cult with "Electric," one of my favorite rock n roll albums ever made. I hadn't gotten as far as "Sonic Temple," but "Edie" is especially beautiful and powerful, and "Soul Asylum" is unique and mesmerizing, with "Sun King" and "Firewoman" making the album a flaming powerhouse. Listening to a Cult song is a bit like looking at a beautiful woman- whichever one you are seeing at the moment seems the most overwhelming.

I hadn't gotten as far as "Sonic Temple," but "Edie" is especially beautiful and powerful, and "Soul Asylum" is unique and mesmerizing, with "Sun King" and "Firewoman" making the album a flaming powerhouse. Listening to a Cult song is a bit like looking at a beautiful woman- whichever one you are seeing at the moment seems the most overwhelming.
