Not really listen to the 2nd verse. It’s all about regret and break up. “When he holds you close, when he pulls you near, when he says the words you’ve been needing to hear, I wish I was there, cause those words are mine”
Listened to Jon Bon Jovi in a podcast talking about why Ritchie left the band. Sad to see him here. He was and still is an amazing and talented guitarist and musician.
Love the song but hated the video. It was to a movie that bombed. The 95 in London concert was way better. They extended the end which makes the song much better. Awesome. Much watch I think. The end too is fantastic. 🎉😊
They actually weren't kings of the power ballad. They are the only band of that era to chart multiple number 1 hits that were non ballads (bad name, prayer, bad medicine, born to be my baby) Only 1 ballad hit 1 (I'll be there for you)
@@BillGraper Jovi only band of that genre to survive and thrive after grunge. The innovators always survive when trends shift. The followers always die off when trends shift
Keri Russell looked very good as well, but yeah, perhaps the roles should've been the other way around. Then again, there would've been less scenes w/ Carla.
MTV was such a big deal during those times. Bon Jovi was huge as performers easily filling stadiums on tour. Although not their preference to lip synch for videos and videos often straying from the lyrics, there are some really good ones as well. "All About Loving You" is one of my favorites. "Blaze of Glory" was a solo Album by Jon used as soundtrack for the movie "Young Guns II". Would love to see you react to either or both of these.
I've ALWAYS found the difference between lyrics and video really jarring. The song, musicianship, voals, lyrics, are pretty epic. The video, in a very different way, is a 'classic' of the MTV era. But ... they just don't align, and I'm pleased you mention that each distract from the other. Not enough people do mention that, I feel. To continue your Bon Jovi journey: Wanted Dead or Alive, and Bed of Roses. Wanted is an absolute anthem, and if anything I'd say Bed of Roses is even more epic than this. Probs their biggest ballad.
Hey guys if you've never heard of them you guys should check out the rock band Halestorm, a great song of theirs to start with is "Love Bites (so do I)" their vocalist Lzzy Hale is hands down one of the most badass female leads of all time and as a musician I'd honestly put her up against any rock great
This is my favourite Bon Jovi song and one of my favourite ever songs. From the soaring vocals to the beautiful piano and amazing guitar solo it is truly fantastic. The video is really good but like you say it has nothing to do with the actual song and ends up becoming distracting. The 1995 live in London performance of this song is really great and the crowd takes your breath away. Another great ballad from them is Bed of Roses.
I think the music video portrays of a guy asking for second chance on his point of view. He was reminiscing the good and bad times. The adlib lyric mentioned: Where it ain't no luck, in this loaded dice but baby if you give it just one more try, we can pack up are old dreams and our old lives we'll find the place where the sun still shines.
I always got a chuckle out of imaginig what the painter dude thought when he came back to find the hot girl he picked up and painted had disappeared and his apartment was burning.
I have a DVD collection of Bon Jovi videos . What is cut from this on the MTV version is the fact he picked up a spray can of paint lit it on fire. That's what caused the explosion
Great song and definitely you should check the live version performed at Wembley Stadium during the These Days tour in 1995. The guitar solos give you goosebumps.
Guilty pleasure of mine. At the time you weren't supposed to still like bands like Bon Jovi. At least in my High School. But I've always loved this song.
If we are.going with 90s Bon Jovi. Try listening to Keep the Faith, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. Bed of Rose's or In These Arms. Much better then Always...lol
You need to check out Aldo Nova. He and Jon Bon Jovi were buds. Aldo has some killer songs and some of the best ballads. “Ball and Chain”, and “Someday” are a couple of favorites.
Great song, always makes me think of the tragedy of my ex. A couple other good Bon Jovi songs like this to check out from a later album You Want Make a Memory and Til We're Not Strangers Anymore
Nice reaction! Not many people react to Roulette from their second album and it's fantastic. Be different and give it a go. You won't regret it. Also, did you recognize the two actresses in the video, before they became famous?
I love the song. I hate the video. The song was written for the movie “Romeo is Bleeding”. Jon saw the screening for the movie and hated it, so he decided not to use it. He added the song to his greatest hits album and it was a hit.
The song is not a love song Jon Bon Jovi even explained it’s about a stalker who can’t let go of the girl that’s why in the vid he blows up the building killing her and that’s her ghost at the end
This is why there are very few music videos that I like. With a few exceptions, they tend to be distracting. In fact, many of them were made only to get air time for the song on MTV when MTV came along. There are a few artists that can really make their video's work with their tunes (Kate Bush, Billy Joel, etc), but mostly they end up being irrelevant.
Hey guys! Just wanted to ask if you're going to go with a 1 history episode per week? I do hope you can release them more frequently than that since there are so many Napoleon episodes :). Cheers!
I prefer Bon Jovi's rockier songs. But as far as ballads go they really know how to do one. In my opinion "Bed of Roses" is a more complete song than "Always", showing off more of Jon's vocal range.
Please check react to Bon Jovi's songs/videos "SOMEDAY I'LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT", "I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD", "LIVING IN SIN", "IF I WAS YOUR MOTHER". Love this song (Always) and the video had some famous actors in it Carla Gugino (the girlfriend), Jason Wiles (the artist), Jack Noseworthy (the cheating boyfriend), Keri Russell (the roommate).
This music video is so different from the song! I've never liked it despite loving the song. Oh man, I just thought of a hilarious music video for you guys to react to (provocative plus humour): Cheat Codes x Kris Kross Amsterdam and their song "SEX". It's based off of a song from the 90s by Salt-N-Pepa but the video is gold. Hmm, you might offend some people with stuck up attitudes though. Oh well, check it out on your own time then.
OUTLAWS - " Ghost Riders In The Sky " Southern Rock/Hard Rock 70s JAMMIN' Acoustic and Electric GUITARS. Vocal Version w/ Crazy Good! DRUMS & BASS. Highly recommend This Amazing Song 🎤 🎸🔥 it ROCKS from Start to finish
Love this song, but always hated the video. Yes, this was supposed to be on a movie soundtrack but Jon pulled it. However, the lyrics do kind of go with this. In the first verse, he says "it's been raining since you left me, now I'm drowning in the flood." Then in verse 2, when talking about the pictures she left behind, he says "one that made you have to say goodbye." Then "I wish I was him, that those words were mine." If you really want to see the absolute BEST version of the song, you should watch the one LIVE from Wembley, 1995! Amazing vocals!!
This is why I never recommend reaction videos on music videos as it usually has nothing to do with the song or it’s just to distracting from the song itself.
I don't think this is a love songs. Not the type to play at a wedding. It seems she left him and is with someone else. "It's been raining since you left me" "When he holds you close, when he pulls you near. When he says the words you've been needing to hear. I wish I was him With these words of mine"
I'm a New Jersey guy, so I'm a Bon Jovi guy. Him and Bruce Springsteen. But I will have to say that this particular song is very middle of the road, very mediocre. Not bad, not great. Heck for that matter. The video wasn't great either. PS: My wife liked it, both the song and the video.
One of the cringest videos of the 90s. I was never a fan, but I had a friend who was. And even him couldn't stand the song. Bon Jovi had many better ones.
Bed of roses the official video is his best vocal in my opinion. Amazing song!!
I agree, the video gives a different message than the song. The song is awesome! Gives an inner look at Jon's vocal range.
I always hated the video. 😂

@@Ryan-ku2ez Yep, and they even did a grunge-like song (Prostitute). I discovered it back in 1994. It was the B-side to "This Ain't A Love Song."
