    The song was recorded with studio musicians before the the band was formed. It was included in the band's debut album snd we see the band members in the video, but none of them played on the studio recording. Funny thing: the bass was recorded by their current bassist Hugh McDonald, who eventually replaced original bassist Alec John Such.The guitars were recorded by then young session guitarist Tim Piercre who is now one of the top session musicians.

    Hearing this song in 9th grade gave us all a glimpse on just how huge Bon Jovi and his band would become thru the 80's. What a great track to start with, right from the beginning. Would love to hear you go thru his catalog, lots of material on his next album, the sophomore effort that really broke them out, 7800 degree Fahrenheit. "In and out of Love", "Only Lonely" or "Silent Night" would all be great review tracks from it. Then of course the junior effort from 1986 Slippery When Wet which was pretty much an album full of top 10 hits. Tracks like "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Never Say Goodbye", "Wanted Dead or Alive" or "You Give Love a Bad Name" would make for awesome review material.

    The "run run run run run run runaway" part might be a reference to a much older song also called Runaway. I looked it up and what comes up is. Del Shannon's "Runaway" from 1961. This is a song that used to be played often on an oldies station that my grandparents often listened to, which is where I remembered that first bit of info from.

    "Runaway" was originally recorded in 1981 for Jon's "Power Station Demos" at the beginning of his career, which was backed by session musicians. This version is a band version from their debut album. Whenever I'm asked to describe Bon Jovi's style over the first 2 albums, I compare them to a cross between Journey and Bruce Springsteen.

Personally, I love this Album ("Slippery When Wet")... hits like "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "Livin' On A Prayer" & so many wonderfully memorable music. EVERY, AND I MEAN E-V-E-R-Y song is a HIT!!!! Check out his catalog of music or be advised... y'all be missing out on the wonder of BON JOVI & how he RULED the FM Airways!!!! Yeah... Motley Crue were LEGENDARY, Poison too, even White Lion was hitting the circuit trying to make their mark.... BUT... BON JOVI stole the SPOTLIGHT when they came to town. • @jenniferfoster1692
    @jenniferfoster1692 Год назад

    You're right, music now sounds the same, and there's data to back that up. There was a huge study where they fed 1/2 million albums into a computer program which showed that diversity of notes/chords etc has drastically been lost, and that many songs now use the same exact sounds/chords/whole runs in many, many songs...they literally sound the same! They used 50 yrs of music and it's gotten more simplified as time has gone by. It's very noticeable as you get to the mid-90s and it's why the 60s/70s/80s are considered the golden era of modern music, so much diversity, creativity & unique music. I'm so glad to have been born in the 60s.

Unfortunately, the warm up artist was Billy Squier, he got booed off the stage in Albuquerque where I'm from because he was doing fruity dances and sexual things with the mic! He played one song and left because myself and everyone there didn't want to look at that! With Def Leppard they have the distinction, with me anyway, with writing the dumbest songs in Pour Some Sugar On Me, very popular but pure cheese in my book!
