What I do not like about YTTV or Sling is that if you set it to record a live event like a football game or race and the event runs over the set time, you get the event truncated and miss the end of it and there is no way to manually adjust the event recording time like you can do with a TIVO and cable.
This should be automatic. RUclips TV records everything in its offerings, and it would be almost nothing for them to splice in the additional footage for DVR purposes. You want to watch everything in what you select to record, that is kind of the point, and there are more than enough reference points for a computer program to figure out when a match has actually finished. It could also be accomplished manually by someone at RUclips who reviews the final moments and decides the optimal moment of when to cut away.

It would be nice if RUclips TV would quit cutting off recorded events. Sometimes they go longer. Especially golf with rain delays. I bet someone could figure this out and code it pretty quickly.
The way I understand it is, that RUclips TV records everything as scheduled on its side automatically, and this is the same recording that everyone who has opted to a recording gets with all of the same issues. There isn't a way to easily nor economically edit this on their end, it would be nice for RUclips to crowdsource the actual end time and compensate on the recording of live events. To get overtime, your best and likely only move is to also record the next program or two after the scheduled end, especially if rain is expected for the area of the event. It will take a tiny bit of research and planning, but obtaining the weather forecast a few days in advance is not super complicated. It is, what it is. That unlimited DVR comes with a cost of convenience and practicality on the viewers' end.
I just noticed that Hulu live figured this out during the US Open (tennis). It appears the way they did this is that when a match is running past it's scheduled time, the end time on the channel guide is extended so the recording continues until the channel guide switches programs. This was great for those late night matches that extend into the early morning matches. I won't say Hulu live recording is perfect, it's weird somtimes you can FF through commercials, but ofter you cannot.
I have one suggestion that might work for a sports event that's almost always on the same day of the week, for instance Sunday night Football. Normally, the same program is scheduled in the time slot immediately following the game. Just set a regular recording of that show as well. If the game runs over, just watch the recording for the following show. Does RUclips not give you the option to extend a recording 30 minutes past, for instance, like Xfinity does?
@@lamuffin No, RUclips TV does not offer this as an option. RUclips TV's recording process is too efficient. It records everything as scheduled and gives anyone who requested the recording the same copy that everyone else gets, with the same flaws and issues. This has led to several issues with RUclips TV’s recorded file being corrupted and/or totally unusable in the not too distant past and makes it quite difficult to allow someone to have an entire match on one recording. It’s not an atrocious concept, but RUclips TV needs to start recording multiple copies and find a way to appropriately gauge and account for when live events subject to overruns end. The NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA, amongst other governing bodies, can easily provide the exact end time for RUclips to facilitate stitching the master recording together. They want fans to have the whole picture and should be incentivised enough to make sure RUclips TV gets it right.

I don't subscribe to any of the live streaming channels such as RUclips TV. They are expensive and I am not interested in sports. The FAST channels and a few with VOD such as Amazon Prime, Paramount + and Hulu currently work the best for me.

It doesn’t have any of the Discovery Network shows, or the History Channel. Those are what I watch most often, which is what is preventing me from going with it, and if I did I would be paying for it just to get my local channels, as I am getting the channels I watch through Philo right now.

I believe that youtube TV is the best service. I've tried most. I have it on pause now due to the price increase and the football season has not started yet. I will pause each year now to save money and use it only when I know I'll be using it. Once EPSN goes all out streaming, I'll probably cancel it. I really don't watch much TV. I use other streaming services.
My RUclips Tv freezes at least once a day and the only way to get it working again is to turn the TV OFF and then turn it back on. This all started a couple of months ago. My Firestick is up to date, my YT software is up to date, my router has been reset many times but it continues to freeze. YT customer service is ZERO help.

I put RUclips TV on pause since July 1. So far I don’t miss it. Because of my watching habits I see now I don’t need it. I will be canceling my subscription. Next I will be assessing if I need to have Netflix. I will probably only keep it on a limited basis. As needed. Binge the shows I like for three months then shut it down. 3 months on & 9 months off. I am canceling yttv because it has gotten expensive and I can see all of what I watch for a lot less money. They r getting to be just like cable in pricing. I have prime, Disney, max, Hulu, paramount & peacock and can see everything I want to watch and for less than yttv. + I see all of their products before they get to yttv.

Can you record 10 shows at one time? Can you fast forward all commercials? If you get NFL Sunday ticket, can you record those games and watch back while fast forwarding the commercials?
The two things that I did not like about RUclips TV; channels did not default to alphabetical order and even a month into the subscription, I still had not figured out how to delete from the DVR. I actually enjoyed not having channel numbers, but they did need something to make sense of the channels. The thing that drove me to just quit was being ridiculously conveluted. Deleting DVR material is a day one concept to learn, and since I couldn't find it after a couple of weeks, the whole thing became a lost cause. I am sure they have fixed these issues, but it has become too expensive for what it is at this point.
@@green285 Many people will initially see that they have unlimited and take advantage, before realising that they don't truly want all of that. It inevitably becomes untenable and an utter mess to wade through. Once I have seen something, it needs to go. Unlimited means that RUclips will indiscriminately record every episode of a series, including reruns, without regard to what you have already seen, thus duplicating nonsense. Nah, that kind of clutter is unacceptable! The DVR should get a major overhaul, and users need way control of what they actually want, with assistance from Google learning and anticipating habits. It's Google, they should most definitely have this personal kind of data already! I only had the service for the trial period and one month after that, and DVR overcrowding quickly became an issue with no solution in place.
@@jimmybexley9574 Sure, you can, but the default to a bunch of random channels with no numbers is absurd. I am not sure alphabetical order is right for the long term either, but it gives a nice starting reference point for which anyone can quickly and easily understand. Local channels are already separated for some reason, but people sometimes know and recognise their affiliates by the channel number. RUclips TV accommodated this, not that there are a whole lot of local channels on RUclips TV for a given area.
@@GeorgeVCohea why complain when it’s not really a problem? If you want them alphabetical just order them that way if you want all the sports together so that. It’s not that big of a deal.
@@BenDMitchell but you do live in a major metropolitan area, what about people like me that are thinking of switching but are huge sports fans, (st louis, kansas city, dallas are near me, but can get the RSN's from another company, does YTTV offer RSN's for all major markets?)
The 4K has some good features but, actual 4k playback falls short. In one example of many, watching a F-1 motorsport event in 1080p or even 720 is unsatisfactory to say the least. Difficult to read the time/standing column and the loss of race detail really spoils the show.
@@matthewgandy9774 Me too, I cut the cord over 10 years ago when DirecTV was $55. OTA for me. Of course with this push for ATSC 3.0, they'll figure out how to monetize that.
I opted for directv stream. Its only $10-$20/month cheaper than xfinity but has basically all the sports and you can use an antenna if your missing the cw which only has golf. It does have the other 4 locals. It even has my rsns. Its better option because i have 2 rsns one is $19.99/month (marquee sports network) and the other has no option yet. Im not taking a risk that youtube tv will drop nbc sports chicago whenever the white sox, bulls, amd blackhawks opt out. Its just not worth paying for 2 rsns seperately with youtube tv if they cost just as much as directv stream together. $73 + $20 + $20-$30 is literally the cost of directv stream and your still missing some channels.
Thanks for another great video! Our RUclips TV on Roku just recently received the new interface that you are showing, but I was wondering if there is a way to hide watched content from the recently recorded section? The old interface on Roku as well as the iPhone app and the website hide the watched programs when in the recently recorded section so it makes it easy to see what we still need to watch. The new interface says "watched" on the shows, but they are still there cluttering up the screen. I have clicked around the app and tried looking for answers online, but I haven't found a solution. Anyway, thanks again for all of your great content.
Very happy with RUclips tv for DVR functionality and local channels. Only thing I don’t like is that I can’t set DVR to start recording 1 minute before show starts. @CordCuttersNews, need your help, my local channels are based out of Baton Rouge, the CW channel was supposed to be released and shows up as a local on the website, but not on the app, any suggestions???? Thanks in advance!!!
So is RUclips TV the same as cable and satellite service that makes you pay for channels we don't watch or can we actually choose the channels that we watch, in English and Spanish?
Can you if you go on vacation or travel often get on from another device or a smart TV away from home?
Yes you can.
Ive had direct tv for about 5 years and been paying $160 just for the choice package. Called rhem this friday and they told me they can give it to me for $108 for another year🤔
I don't subscribe to any of the live streaming channels such as RUclips TV. They are expensive and I am not interested in sports. The FAST channels and a few with VOD such as Amazon Prime, Paramount + and Hulu currently work the best for me.
do you need wifi for it to work ?
Did I miss the price?
No fast forward for recordings?
I'm 65 years old and just cut the cord and switched to You Tube TV. I've had it for a month now and I love it. Can't believe I was so scared to switch. I do have a question about the 4K. I did sign up for the free trial but thinking even with the 12month $4.99 promotion that it's really not worth it. I only have one tv that's 4K. We are big Sports watchers of football and ESPN+. I don't have any special cables I don't think. Just the USB cables that Xfinity gives you with the Flex box (since I have several not smart tvs). Any opinions on whether I should drop the 4K? Thx
I love RUclips tv. I've tried all the others and the guide is one thing for me that is better than the rest. I haven't got the new library update. I hope I don't. I got my dad too use yttv as well. I just wish the picture quality was better!
I am told the picture quality is good. Has this not been the experience for you?
@@jamesrowe6389 The picture quality has gotten a lot better recently. One thing RUclips tv has changed.
I cannot get the RUclips TV home screen. It always goes right into a channel. Any suggestions?
Love it. Price is great.
Do the VOD movies on RUclips TV cost extra?
It doesn’t have any of the Discovery Network shows, or the History Channel. Those are what I watch most often, which is what is preventing me from going with it, and if I did I would be paying for it just to get my local channels, as I am getting the channels I watch through Philo right now.
So it's not made for U it was made for SPORTs HEADs! Check the other comments. one guy wants to stack tv's like blocks to watch multiple games simultaneously .
@@erikamontoya6362 Maybe he should be working at a sports bar. lol
Will a Apple lightning hdmi work for RUclips tv to a tv? I know RUclips works but not sure about RUclips tv. Thank you
Well I got to admit it cheaper than spectrum for right now but we will see.u can always drop it.
I like RUclips tv but we winter 6 months in another state and travel to family a lot. This creates issues on keeping my home viewing because you can only use another location for 3 months. I’m going to cancel my subscription before we leave for our winter home this winter and re establish a subscription once we get there
Get a VPN and then connect to a server in your home area where the service is established. No worries there.
What about NFL games for this upcoming season?
'Everything You Need to Know About RUclips TV - Pricing, DVR, Guide, 4K, & More' Did you mention price? Not sure I caught that mentioned? Interested in US price compared to say (where I am) the UK price. Thanks
This is a US-centic RUclips channel. I don't believe you are going to find what you seek here, unfortunately.
I doubt it is in The UK because it is geared toward USA Networks. You might have something similar up there.
@@GeorgeVCohea I understand that - but when 'changes' happen in the Streaming World - the Host often mentions that 'such' changes are rolling out in countries etc with Canada & UK often referenced
Pretty good video; you packed in a lot of information. I really don’t want to give Alphabet any $$ since they have demonetized a lot of channels they disagreed with.
Thanks for the intro
I believe that youtube TV is the best service. I've tried most. I have it on pause now due to the price increase and the football season has not started yet. I will pause each year now to save money and use it only when I know I'll be using it. Once EPSN goes all out streaming, I'll probably cancel it. I really don't watch much TV. I use other streaming services.
Exactly.
Only because football philo is the best 25 bucks a month and has history and a n e
Does RUclips Tv has Sportsnet channel?
I thought I read YT TV was going back to the left of screen menu.
I still have the mid screen menu and HATE it.
Do you have to buy videos you want to watch?
IF i do a lot of traveling out of my area, will the local channels switch to the markets i travel to when im on the road away from home.
Yes, you will be able to watch those live only. Anything recorded from your _home_ affiliates will be unavailable, until your return as well.
No RUclips tv for me. To costly.
Get a VPN service and then connect to a server in your home area to keep the channels when on the road. It's an easy solution.
My RUclips Tv freezes at least once a day and the only way to get it working again is to turn the TV OFF and then turn it back on. This all started a couple of months ago. My Firestick is up to date, my YT software is up to date, my router has been reset many times but it continues to freeze. YT customer service is ZERO help.
everything seems great after 3 weeks. my only problem is that i usually have three games on at once. would love to be able to watch one or two more tv's.
I got rid of Cable in March 2023 I like RUclips Tv it has most of the tv that I watch I like the ad ons if I want I also got Friendly TV to get some of the channels RUclips TV didn’t have so I have everything I had when. Had cable at a cheaper price
My biggest hesitation was the possibility of switching to live stream and now having a channel guide or DVR services.
I'm a subscriber for a couple of years. Recently canceled the service because how absolutely horrible the dvr was. I'm going to give Hulu a try
Good luck with Hulu, it’s trash in my opinion.
I like youtube tv and the unlimited 9 mos. dvr.i wish it had a "page up" or page down" or over and back in the live guide for channel surfing and times.
Is RUclips TV its own app, or is RUclips TV a feature on RUclips?
My attenpts to thrice quit RUclips TV were a burden to family because they want to see certain sporting events or shows. I had to return. But it was a nice test. I don't dislike it but was looking to save the money. Had to cut other stuff to make up for staying with it.
@@alanvallazza9781 not that big on watching sports on tv. Im an in person sports fanatic. However espn can be added to Disney +. If I do that I am still paying less than YTTV $75. If I add Frindly with all the other apps I will be paying what I paid for YTTV.
Not a big fan of RUclipsTV. I do not like the UI or Roku. Not a sports fan and missing some channel I would like to have included. Tried the service twice and will not try a third time.
Is there anyway to go directly to a channel without scrolling through all of them
It would have been nice if you would have displayed how to favorite channels. 😢
Can you record 10 shows at one time? Can you fast forward all commercials? If you get NFL Sunday ticket, can you record those games and watch back while fast forwarding the commercials?
Yes to all
The two things that I did not like about RUclips TV; channels did not default to alphabetical order and even a month into the subscription, I still had not figured out how to delete from the DVR.
You can customize your live guide in any order you want. It makes it much easier to find the channels you want.
Why delete dvr content if it's unlimited storage?
@@green285
Many people will initially see that they have unlimited and take advantage, before realising that they don't truly want all of that.
@@jimmybexley9574
Sure, you can, but the default to a bunch of random channels with no numbers is absurd.
So, will I still need my ROKU ?
I'd like to see a Premium youtube tv package... Just like youtube premium, NO ADS and some other extra features
YTTV does in fact have RSN’s. I watch NBC Sports Philadelphia all the time. Mistake on Luke’s part.
I’m considering switching. You can get all Philly games without blackouts? From south jersey so worried they won’t stream or be blacked out
@@Phillies3429 correct. You can get all the Philly games.
The movies having 20 commercials makes it so annoying
Did I miss the pricing?? I didn't hear anything about the price.
Know this, today YTTV is $75. Before you know it... $100.
SHOOT 75 DOLLARS IS HIGH IN MY OPINION
@@matthewgandy9774 Me too, I cut the cord over 10 years ago when DirecTV was $55. OTA for me. Of course with this push for ATSC 3.0, they'll figure out how to monetize that.
@@matthewgandy9774$77 dollars is better than $230, which is what we were paying for DirecTV before we switched to RUclips TV last year.
75$ WTH that's to high when it runs off Wifi connection and that's 75$ already I'm paying 188$ already with Cable and Wifi
Are Thursday, Sunday night and Monday night football games available with it?
Thursday night games only air on Amazon Prime. RUclips TV does include ESPN and most locals for locally aired NFL games.
Sorry don't know the answer to that will look around.
I've never watched sports a day in my life. Is this still worth having?
My homepage looks nothing like this, nor does the guide.
Very happy with RUclips tv for DVR functionality and local channels. Only thing I don’t like is that I can’t set DVR to start recording 1 minute before show starts. My local news seems to always start 1 minute early probably because they don’t have anyone buying ads in that minute. Guide is cumbersome. Hard to navigate to next day.
I can't figure out how to record. Please explain.
@@margaretstone2598 I use Roku device so may be different for you. Whatever you want to record if watching it hit pause, down button and put a check in the circle.
RUclips Tv Senior plans?
Good video on RUclips TV pricing. I've had the streaming service for a number of years. I use it for sports. Once in a blue moon, I might watch something else on it. If it wasn't for a family member who watches other programming, I'd try to find some other streaming service that gave me the sports content but less cost than the full RUclips TV.
I'm in the same boat as you're. I'm a sports guy and some local/network tv person. If anyone has an idea on sports only streaming I'm interested.
Does the RUclips have the YES channel 😂
I'm a RUclips TV subscriber. I subscribed right after my playstation View ceased to exist. Very happy with the service as a whole. Dvr is excellent imo . My only complaint is the raising cost. Other than that the service is first cabin. Lastly I couldn't help but notice in your demonstration I saw nothing but Fox News or is that Fox entertainment News. Watch a lot of Fox News I see very entertaining...
Is youTube tv advertising free?
Pricing?
how does youtube tv work?
Why do you have to watch commercials when watching a movies??
