We started YTTV because of your recommendation and we are glad we did. The issues with the library and storage are a bit annoying, but overall we are happy with YTTV.
I have had You Tube TV for a year. Added the NFL package and love streaming 4 games at once. Main gripes, Library ( lack of ability to record how I want and able to delete. Smaller gripe, would like ability to use channel numbers instead of scrolling up or down. Minor inconvenience because placed favorite channels at top in order or use.
Me and my wife have been Hulu live subscribers since June 2022, and we love it. We had the Disney bundle already when we had our spectrum tv subscription but dropped it for financial reasons and replaced it with Hulu live and have no intentions of ever going back to cable
We leave cable tv because of the pricing, but it seems that streaming services like YTTV, etc, are now about as much. You kind of wonder where is the supposed savings? Thanks for the review!
Hi again Michael. Thanks to your review, I resubscribed to YTTV and subscribed to Netflix (about time). To keep streaming costs down, I cancelled RUclips Premium and MGM+. I like my new combo better so far. Although I'm expecting a fiber outage due to the cold weather spell. I'll be using my antenna soon :)
I have Hulu + Live TV, and love it!! Local channels, a good DVR option, the Disney Bundle which includes ESPN+, etc. To me, there's no comparison.

@mikejudkins8649 Yes. I wish the UI was a little better, but it works, has DVR, etc. Plus, you get Disney+ and ESPN+. We have no problems with it.
how about picture quality
@@Fausto181818 Picture quality is great. Supports 4K, etc. The DVR could be better, but it's functional.
I like them both for different reasons (as you mentioned). We're not using either currently because it's just gotten too darn expensive.
Hulu + Live TV saves me $90/mo over cable.
No matter what service you get If It's cable or a Live TV streaming service It will be expensive. Personally I think Cable Is overrated because of all the hidden fees cable gets you on. You never are told up front what is this fee for or where's this fee going. I would just go with whatever fits best for your budget.

I always learn something from you! I currently pay for RUclips TV and the Disney Bundle, both of which have gone up in the past year. I had no idea that the Disney Bundle is included with Hulu Live TV. I’m definitely going to check that out. Thank you for the info!
My phone plan includes a paid Hulu subscription and already have a Disney Plus account as well. How do I go about getting Hulu live tv with Disney plus and Espn? I like Hulu live tv for having both History Channel and Travel Channel. Do I have to cancel my original Disney plus and Hulu accounts first? Thank you.

Personally, I rate these two services very close, but I still prefer RUclips tv.
I am however, currently subscribed to Hulu because of their $49.99 for 3 months special price for new and returning customers.
After that, I'll unpause my RUclips tv subscription, because Hulu will once again be more expensive.
As for customer service, I prefer the RUclips tv call back.
It saves me from having to wait on hold forever, and I get to speak to an American.
I know you can also get a call back with Hulu, but IMO the RUclips tv agents are better.
Actually Hulu is raising their price if you choose their no ad deal it will be $89.99 I believe. If you get it with ads it will be $72.99.
@@fredreed2001 They are raising their prices, but I subscribed to the special offer they had for new and returning customers.
After the 3 months is up, the new higher prices would kick in and it would get more expensive than RUclips tv.
@@fredreed2001 The no ads refers to the streaming content, not to live tv or to dvr.
We have YTTV, because it has PBS. Hulu Live doesn’t. We supplement with Frndly to get the History channel.

Thanks for the great videos Michael. I have been researching streaming services and I was going to go with Fubo until I read that their live TV only streams in 720 and they don't have surround sound. I need it to stream in 1080 (and would prefer surround sound). Do you know if Hulu TV or RUclips TV have these features? Thanks
It really depends on the network, but YTTV has 1080p and surround sound for some networks.

I wish RUclips would fix their guide so that you can mash your remote button and go faster to a time and or day. You have to continuously mash the button just to see the next to coming up hours.

With Hulu, you can try clicking FF while in the guide, which forwards ahead faster. At least that's what I remember from testing with a Roku.

I’ve been enjoying RUclips tv for a few months, but yesterday my local CBS and CW channels got stuck at yesterday at 4:26pm. If I got to those channels, it’s stuck replaying a 1 minute loop from yesterday and then freezing. 40 minutes on the phone with support resulted in them telling me they’ll look in to it and get back with me. Still no response today. Frustrating
YTTV I can pause a show then start it back up and most of the time skip the ads. Hulu won’t allow it regardless.
The limit to 2 live streams is a deal breaker for me. That’s insane.
I still like RUclips tv. The channels missing doesn't bother me that much. You can always get friendly for those missing channels. The recordings can be a headache if you use them. I wish RUclips tv had bally sports. Only thing missing for me. No start from begining option on DVR movies which I don't like , but RUclips tvs guide is great!

I went with RUclips TV because Hulu recordings were still showing ads that I couldn’t FFWD thru even though I paid for no ads. Really annoying. Anyone else have that issue with Hulu Live?
Same here. I hate having to deal with the ads that hulu embeds in their programs, especially after paying for no ads.
That’s literally the reason why I switched from hulu to RUclips. I mainly recorded basketball and Hulu would NOT let me fast forward through commercials even though we were paying for the “no ads”. RUclips lets me fast forward through everything lol. I will say though I don’t like RUclips’s format. I preferred hulu.
My problem is the broadcast channels: abc, nbc, cbs. YTTV is the only one that will give me cbs so I’m stuck. Antenna isn’t an option for me . Thx for your videos; always informative!
Paramount streams CBS football games. Give it a try,the $5 plan
And Peacock does the Sunday prime time game. Also the $5 plan

Point of order: You made the statement that YTTV doesn't carry regional sports networks. That's not the case, at least in the Philadelphia area. We do get NBC Philadelphia Sports Network here which carries regular-season Phillies games as well as additional local sports content.
I'm aware and I actually did not say YTTV doesn't have any regional sports networks. I said if you're looking for those, the service may not be right for you (because Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM offer more RSNs, specifically the Bally ones.)
Do either services off a way to adjust how much data is used?
You could try playing around with the video quality settings to adjust it down
I mainly watch nba and some nfl. RUclips literally has all the channels I need. I’m in the Sacramento area so they have my Kings channel (nbc sports California), nba tv, tnt, & espn. lol I literally don’t use any other channels. When the season is over I just pause my subscription.
Just signed up for Hulu Live. I do not see the Disney on the channel listing. Do I also need to load the Disney + app?

I, for one, don't care about sports and prefer RUclips TV bcuz of the pricing even though I have to use Philo for the channels it doesn't have.

There’s a 4K add-on with YTTV. You can try it out free for 30 days usually. No 4K option with Hulu Live. Without the add-on, I’d say they’re about the same picture quality.
With cable xfinity I can record up to 5 tv shows, can hula and RUclips do that

Is it my understanding Hulu+ can’t be downloaded on 3rd generation Apple TV? Well, 4th generation isn’t out yet. Am I missing something?
Hulu says it supports Apple TV 4K and Apple TV (4th generation). When did you buy yours? Any chance it’s a 4K model?

I disagree with a comment in the video. I don't see the ability with Hulu live tv to fast forward through ads with a DVR recording of live tv. At least when using a Roku device. In fact, per two customer support reps (live phone conversations) this is not possible, despite at least two current web pages this month (January 2024) Hulu says that you can ff through dvr ads. Also in fact, I was told by the reps that the ads (these appear as yellow blocks in the timeline of the dvr recording) are injected by Hulu. The web pages do not mention that there are Hulu injected ads, but makes a point to claim that ads (in general) can be ff'd -- no exceptions for injected ads were mentioned. Interestingly, when viewing the dvr recording using a web browser the ads are skipped, but marked. Maybe an adblocker is doing that.
Are there any streaming devices that can do this too, like the web browsers?
If it’s from the live TV service (cable and local networks) and you recorded it, you can skip the ads by fast forwarding. I have been reviewing these services since 2016. Hulu Live used to have a restriction, but lifted it and I even made a video when they did!
I have YTTV and will stick with it for now. The fact that they raised the price and also lost MLBTV was a big pisser for me. Hulu does not have MLBTV, if they did I might switch.
Hulu Live TV does not let you pause Live TV and the skip through the adds, so I like RUclips TV better
You can skip the ads if you set a recording for a live TV channel. It didn’t used to be that way. You’ll still see ads for the on-demand Hulu unless you pay extra to stop them
@@MichaelSavesdoes it really? I had hulu live about a year ago and I would record nba games. It would not let me fast forward through the commercials! I was so pissed when I found that out the first day of having it. I kept it for the 1 month and switched to RUclips tv and been with them since.
The average user is going to want to know how well the service matches the traditional cable tv look. Do they have the same channel guide? Do they have an easy way to go to the different channels you want to watch or do you have to scroll through endless icons on the screen? The average user will also want to know the quality of the service. Does it buffer, is there a spinning arrow on the screen, does the sound stutter? We all have experience with the quality problems of youtube where it stutters, freezes, buffers, etc. Are the other streaming services any better? Also what about the ease of signing up? I tried signing up to youtube free trial and could not do it, the website would just freeze when I tried to submit. In a situation like this is there a customer service that is easy to access?

Hulu live tv is great but I don’t like paying for Disney and ESPN… we don’t use those channels. I wish they had a package without them
Sling Blue for $40 does not have Disney or ESPN. It does have FX & National Geographic which are now owned by Disney.

two reasons we cancelled YTTV and got Hulu. 1. no History Channel my favorite. 2. live in N. Arkansas and instead of getting Little Rock,Ark locals YTTV puts us on Springfield, Mo locals. we want all news,politics, Ark State information about Arkansas and not Missouri, don't even go up there.

Just cancelled youtube tv due to I could not find out how to get someone to call me. they have a runaround system where you put in your need for service and you end up back at the same place so I finally just canceled their 15 day free with two days left. At least I was able to call and talk with someone at Hulu. RUclips does NOT have my local NBC even though Fubo and Hulu both have it. That might have been resolved with a call, no call, no youtubeTV.
Even considering going back to Dish....

If you have a 2nd home Hulu will not work there with the same subscription whereas YTTV does. So Hulu is out for me.

Just wanted to chime in to say that my customer service experience with RUclips TV was absolutely atrocious: there have been at least 4 big-ish persistent bugs that I noticed starting when I got the service back in 2020, and they failed to fix a single one. Essentially, their customer service policy is to tell you nothing is wrong, then to throw redundant troubleshooting stuff at you, then to tell you that they’re working on the issue, and then two weeks later send you an email indicating someone else has taken over your case. That person, of course, begins the process anew. Essentially, they give the appearance that they’re very helpful but never actually fix anything. It was enough to make me quit RUclips TV altogether - ended up, going with fubo because of the feature set and sports options.
Regular RUclips’s support is like this as well. Sorry to hear.
@@MichaelSaves Yeah, the straw that broke the camels back was that the video quality was having serious issues. I was getting really bad judder every time I open the app, and then I had to restart every single time. Incredibly annoying. And they spent the first month telling me they couldn’t see the issue in the videos that I sent them. Just condescending, a huge insult to my intelligence. It’s made me wary of every Google app.
Only RUclips TV has PBS WMHT. Last time I checked, anyway. Does Hulu?
Hulu has added PBS stations to the live TV plan! Plus, you can always stream PBS with the PBS app!
Michael is steaming live TV really worth it? Or is just getting a one or two subscription with your ones favorite network or movies a cheaper option? I am looking for best alternative.
@@abetoledo9829 Live TV services are for people who want sports, cable news and can’t get locals with an antenna. For the most part, everyone else is better off without expensive bundles.

I didn't want to fund Disney+ through Hulu. In addition Hulu did not have the Fox News Channel. That was the deal breaker right there.
Hulu Live does have Fox News. It has to in order to carry the rest of the FOX networks.

As someone who likes Turner Classic Movies, RUclipsTV seems to be the better choice. I believe Hulu Live offers TCM, but for an additional cost, is that correct?
TCM is included in the basic live service.

RUclips tv way better Mike. I’ve tried them all. The best cable replacement to me is Directv Stream but way over priced. RUclips tv I’ve had great customer service experience and now with the edition of the Sunday Ticket it’s the best service and the overall price reasonable
Are you kidding me RUclips TV has great customer service support not at all to me. Their customer service support is terrible. I would only go back to them if they improved their customer service support. It’s completely unacceptable and ridiculous. The agents they have are nasty and rude to you. I couldn’t even get a straight answer from them.
Their fight with NextStar caused so much damage to Direct TV!
