Another good option is to check to see if your local station has their own app. I live in a very rural area close to the state line, so almost all of the services that use your location give me stations from the neighboring state. My tiny little local CBS station has their own app, so I'm able to get the news from them that way.
Thank god i have a outdoor antenna that pick up 57 channels, and since i live in upstate new york and not far from the us and Canada borders i also get some Canadian tv channels as well
Can you tell me what setup you have? I live in a low-lying area and the reception stinks with indoor antennas, and an attic antenna isn’t an option. I’m hesitant to put up a pole, but I’m also tired of not being able to see ball games even when they’re on broadcast stations. I used to be able to watch CBS and ABC games on my tablet, but no more.
over the air antennas is the cheapest and best way to watch local channels for barely any cost…the apps this guy is talkin about you need a internet connection
I live in the city, but I’m in a low-lying area, and the reception with antennas is awful. I don’t really want to put in a pole antenna because weather destroys them so easily, and an attic antenna isn’t an option.
The interactive news map - No icon for hi-speed car chases in Los Angeles? Those have become an almost daily occurrence so maybe they're no longer unique enough to be called 'news'. 😉
These do not always play when live news is on.sometime you get only one live a day and recaps of the news others...some broadcasters have thier own ap which airs every news time is live.
News, whether it’s local or national is useless. News has become editorial commentary and entertainment shows. I’d eschew the news for just getting full access to local channels like with OTA.
it really depends on the station. the local station i watch is fairly objective while the other local stations seem to have more of a left leaning bias.
I’ve never lived in a place where the local news gives political analysis. It’s more like “in todays news, the president visited …. for …. Summit. In other news…”. I’m not sure how that’s editorial commentary or analysis. I like my local news for finding out what’s happening locally like the weather, local events, etc.
@davidaz6622 not so much political analysis but definitely a political bias based on which stories they choose to report on and how and sometimes by the news reporters they hire
It's weird here in rural South Dakota where I get my WiFi via a Verizon Hot Spot. As Verizon's regional hub is Omaha, NE that's what is shown when tuned into sites for "Local News." Thankfully, the Rapid City, SD stations do Livestream their newscasts on their own websites. I use WiFi and do not subscribe to the local Cable TV provider.
I have the notifications for breaking News on Tubi & Pluto. This is for smartphones go to setting check how you want to receive information. Yes Lame Media news sux, I like to see what they are saying & compart to what's really going on. Like the saying goes the more option the better things are.
This is totally irrelevant in the State of New Jersey. We do not have our own television station and our own TV market for 80 years. New Jerseyans only "local" news are coming out from New York City and Philadelphia. Merry Christmas, everyone. 🎄🎁🎅⛄🌨️
No desire to watch legacy media. I go to city council meetings to keep up with local activity, good and bad. Plenty of first hand scuttlebutt to absorb and process from other attendees. Opens the mind.

Unless you live in areas of the Western US.

We have only streaming. And an antenna. Got a cheap little converter box from Walmart. Use a USB stick. Can pause and record over the air TV.

@ They’re talking heads, not one of them is a real reporter or journalist.
I only get one of my local stations and it’s yesterday’s news. It’s just like a newspaper
I will have to try the news apps on my Roku tv
If you DO want to watch your local news, just subscribe to their YT channels. That way, you can choose only the stories that interest you.
I have Dish Network! So I was wondering how do I get an antenna to watch my local channels. And can I hook up an antenna to my LG smart TV.

Not Zim...take the B off BEAM and replace it with a Z...ZEAM

When did you live in Texas? And Where? I live in Matagorda,Texas. Hey, we get news from Houston, Texas....
You getting snow?
I really like this one, but I have nothing to say here
Can I get my SNL (Saturday Night Live)?
How about I love Lucy. Or Maybe Highway Patrol or Dragnet?
If you want to watch it live its still broadcast on Saturday night on NBC stations. A simple antenna on the roof and you're good
I want to watch local channels

That's all great and dandy, if you like getting depressed often...at least in this area, that tends to happen...

I use my indoor antenna and tablo. It get 122 channels
my antenna freezes in the winter
News on is great for other locals not in your own state...
