They told me it’s a known issue and that they are working on it. Slowly it seems because it’s been weeks. Again, we seniors are probably the largest audience for this channel and they don’t care about us. I’m going to give RUclips TV a try. Thank Michael! Your videos have been very helpful!
So it has all these features except for the one I was searching for, which is to delete the content I’ve watched. Why would they not provide a way to clean out the dvr?
Thanks for your help. I have not yet signed up for RUclips TV yet. If you are watching a live TV show that has not been added to your library, are you able to rewind, pause and fast forward through it?

Yes, it should mark as watched. If it doesn't, you can do so manually from a computer or your phone. I have a picture in this article that shows you: michaelsaves.com/streaming/change-youtube-tv-settings/

You're not missing anything. I'm not sure why those recordings would disappear early. But I guess you could just not stop recordings until you're sure you're done with the show/movie.

Thanks for the video. Is it me, but is the DVR functionality incredibly simple and restrictive. The EXTREMELY limited functionality of the RUclips Tv is a major reason stopping me. Why can't you just record new episodes only? The lack of being able record an individual episode or being able to delete shows you've watched, so you can easily find new shows you haven't watched seems incredibly lacking. As I get ready to leave cable, the lack of features of this limited DVR service has me pausing and considering other main streaming services.
I would go further and say that the library on my Chromebook, which is just about the only place I watch TV anymore sucks. Badly organized and chaotic. Great product so screwed up when trying to find ANYTHING.
I just got a 2 week trial version. Was looking to switch from DTV Stream to RUclips TV because it would save me $50 month. But the DVR with RUclips absolutely sucks!! You get ALL recordings for a program, not just NEW episodes. This is HORRIBLE!! If RUclips ever fixes their DVR I might consider switching.
Yea that’s annoying. Just got it 3 days ago. I’m I stupid or not seeing a simple record button? To record anything do I have to ad to library when the show starts for it to record?
This appears to be a standard problem with streaming services. Just got Spectrum and the cloud dvr controls are horrible. You can't fast forward a recording, only skip in 30 second increments with no other option. Unbelievable.
New to RUclipsTV and love it! However, I can not get NFL games to stop recording. Every place that I can "add to library" is unchecked, yet STILL RECORDS. Please help!
I show in this video at around 6 minutes: ruclips.net/video/5sZXxOGP0RU/видео.html. It back doesn’t work, can also scroll to the very top of the screen (above HOME, LIBRARY and LIVE) and select the title that’s playing in the background.
I have my favorite series set to DVR and it’s got many recoded. My problem is I want it to automatically go to the next episode but it doesn’t. It stops at each one. How do I fix it to be continuous?
Hi Lauri. This should happen automatically. If it’s not, go to your settings and make sure you don’t have viewing and watch history paused. If you do, RUclips TV won’t keep track of where you left off. Navigate to settings and the privacy to check this.
What’s the easiest way to watch live local news when cutting the cord? We’re too far north of Houston for an antenna. One older family member needs an easy to use system. Thanks for making this process less confusing. Laura
Great news, you're in a major city. Download the app for your favorite news station. Houston's ABC station has a Roku app where you can watch its newscasts. Others may too!
One other question is whether my current Android TV would support all of the features of RUclips TV. It is a Sony model No. XBR-49X800D. I am not sure if I would need to purchase something like Chromecast with Google TV first.
are we talking virtual dvr or do you have to buy one for you tube? I would think you would be putting things in cloud storage. DVR is a piece of equipment in my mind. Just how much equiipment do you need for you tube tv
Is there anyway to stop the DVR from playing what it wants when the one I am watching is over? I put on a show and fall asleep. I put on the sleep timer but they play another recording after while I’m asleep. Sometimes I don’t even know something was recorded because it thinks I watched it. I want it to go to live tv when the recording is finished or go to a blank screen. It’s annoying. Thanks.
I am in the 2 day trial period and my NEW shows do NOT indicate "recorded" it shows released even though I have done everything else you have mentioned regarding the DVR. It that because I am in the trial period. Also, my Library indicates "Released" and NOT "Recorded" why is that? ugh, not a great start to getting new customers RUclips TV!
You mention you're in the trial period. You must set a recording before the show airs for it to show as Recorded. If you are recording a series with reruns, they won't say Recorded until they air on TV the next time. However, episodes may be available on demand as Released.
@@MichaelSaves if I understand you correctly, even though I have set up shows to record past episodes that show in my library shown as new are not necessarily recorded. They would otherwise be classified as VOD video on demand, right? Thanks
@@carls1977 They will show as recorded once they air on TV again while you’re a subscriber or during your trial. In the meantime, they may show as released. Released = VOD. Recorded = DVR
You say you are operating the systems on your computer or smart phone to set recording etc., (not gonna happen here). I have an android tablet will that work?
I do not have the 3 dots to “mark videos as watched”. I’ve checked from my phone, iPad, and laptop and that option is not available. Has YT TV changed this function?
It still works. On mobile, you may not see dots. Try a long press on a thumbnail. Finally, is your watch history paused? That could be messing things up. Separate video: ruclips.net/video/3veoxv1iQVk/видео.html
But...how do I know what I have watched? I recently subscribed and added a few shows to my library. One in particluar has a dozen or so episodes and I don't know where I left off. Do I HAVE to use a PC or phone? Thoughts? Help? Thanks!

Greetings. I really enjoy your very informative videos. I have a question. Every show I have in my library prevents me from skipping commercials. Not sure how to solve this, any solutions? Thank you.
If you added the shows to the library, select the DVR option instead of VOD to skip ads. I show this in my vids. Otherwise, contact support from the settings. Maybe there’s an issue with your account?
@@MichaelSaves Many thanks for your prompt reply. I appreciate it. The option to save to DVR never seems to be available. It’s always VOD. Not sure where in my settings I can do anything about this? Does RUclips TV allow you to record a particular date and time? I want to record the new Christmas Hallmark movies premiering every Saturday at 8:00 pm. I am using my Google calendar reminder right now. 😂
No. And I actually want to do a video on your particular situation. But for now - go to search and type Hallmark. Then the Christmas tab. New movies - including upcoming - will be here. The service only has data around 2 weeks out, so you’ll have to keep checking to add future movies.
@@MichaelSaveswas there an updated video for this situation? I'll be out fo the country and YTTV doesn't allow you to open the app internationally and wanted to set a recurring date/time recording.
You are correct. If I record an old show that has a bunch of seasons (and is also available on VOD), it is impossible to find the episodes that are on DVR. I only want to watch episodes that are DVR'ed and for which I can fast forward commercials. It is HIGHLY irritating that there is no way to filter out the VOD crap or to just show a list of RECORDED episodes.
PC definitely should. Go to the library, select a series, then look for the three dots by episodes. For mobile, it's changed. You long press on an episode and the Mark as Watched option will appear.
Can you watch a recording where you left off? When I go back to watch something I did not finish yesterday the recording always starts from the beginning.
Yes you can pick up where you left off. Curious about your watch history settings for RUclips/RUclips TV. Do you have them turned on? Learn more: support.google.com/youtubetv/answer/7311339?hl=en
How do you resume a DVR show where you left off? If I pause a show and exit the app to return later, I have to start the show over and fast forward to where I left off?
Shouldn’t have to. I would contact support. But first make sure you didn’t pause watch history. If watch history is paused (see settings), it won’t save where you left off.
This Library programs adds programs it thinks I want to watch and even though I delete them they show up again or something else shows up. At one time there were 60 shows listed, not a very manageable list to scroll through. I prefer not to have more than 20 - 30. How do I keep the program from adding shows I don't want. or how do I permanently delete shows?
When you add a series (let's say Friends) to your DVR, it will record all episodes of Friends. You can remove it from your DVR to stop recordings. But you have no control over individual episodes.
Do you know how to record all UFC events instead of having to find them before they are on? I like to watch UFC Fight Night and any other event the UFC has upcoming. I wish I could do any event like you showed in this video with your Washington games.
When I searched UFC, I was able to add UFC to the library. But I don't see any further options like with other sports. So I wish I had a better solution. You could search UFC and just add as much as you can such as UFC Unleashed and the other options.
Love your videos Michael...thanks! My beef with YTTV's guide is when I scroll the guide to look for a show in the future, say 3 days away, once you pass midnight, you can lose track of which day you are viewing because YTTV does not show the day of the week or date at the top of the guide, as the cable guides do. Do you have any knowledge of this...maybe I'm missing something. Thanks!
Hi Joan. No, you're correct. There is no JUMP TO DAY feature like with DIRECTV STREAM. It's very confusing with RUclips TV when you scroll to the right, so I tend to just use search!
"By using the fast forward". How do you use the fast forward??? What appears to be what it should be (right arrow button does nothing) on a roku remote. It just sits there.
I need some feedback from the community. I swear that on RUclips TV you used to be able to change the channel and if you returned to that original channel a few minutes later it was still recording. That way if you're flipping around during commercials you could rewind when you switched back if the show had already resumed from the commercial break. Did I just dream that up or was that real?
A feature I like in the DVR has to do with recording syndicated tv shows. I have an active timer for Big Bang Theory that’s pulling from three different channels. As long as at least one of them continues airing the show, I’ll have the complete series in my DVR forever.
@@smark1180 I think you missed my point. If you leave the timer active, it will continually 're-record' the episodes as they come around. In my case, each episode of the show now has 'recordings' of the last five times it aired. I first set my TBBT timer last October. My first recordings will start dropping off next month. But the episode that's 'recording' right now as I type this has an expiration date in March 2023. So, like I said, if you leave the timer active, it will continually push those expiration dates out indefinitely. As long as TBS, for example, keeps the show on, it will ALWAYS be in my library.
I can’t figure out how to get to the screens you’re showing without browsing. If I search for a show that refuses to show up when I browse, my only option is to watch a previous episode. No plus sign.

@@spaceghost4474 I think Balley sports has a monopoly on most mlb local stuff. Directv stream has all the balley sports channels but you’ll cough up some cash. 😒
Have you added the shows/movies to your DVR? Meaning, did you set recordings? If so, make sure you're selecting the DVR version, not VOD. VOD will have ads. If you have added the shows to your DVR and still can't forward through the ads, contact support.
@@MichaelSaves I thought if you DVR something, then at some point (maybe a day later) when you watch the "recording" it will serve the DVR version to you, thus you'll get the commercials. Is this not the case? Or maybe only certain channels don't allow you to skip the commercials? If I can reliably skip commercials on DVR'd shows, then I may just get this and finally cut the cord. :)
@@JBuchmann I have a RUclips TV guide for beginners. You may want to watch the DVR section of that video. When you add programs to your library, you should be able to watch the DVR version and manually skip through the ads with your remote's fast-forward button. There are exceptions, but they're rare. Most of the people who write to me are watching the VOD version, which does have ads that you cannot skip. You must be watching the DVR version to skip ads. You tube needs to do a lot of work with their library (recordings) it is the most ludicrous layout I have ever seen. I do not need a billion episodes of NCIS showing up, I just need those I have not watched and requested to be recorded. When I watch an episode I need to be able to just delete it and never see it again. Maybe youtube needs to hire someone from dish or directV who knows how to program a system for recording, storing and deleting episodes of a program. Just an hour on youtube and I almost prefer to pay twenty bucks more per month to have Dish back into the house with the hopper 3. I'll give youtube the three months on the special I just signed on to, but not sure I will go any further. And another problem, I have searched for some TV shows, such as Chicago med, and the youtube system does not recognize that the program exists. Same with a few other shows, I KNOW DARN WELL DO AND WILL CONTINUE TO EXIST. I'm sure someone from youtube is reading this since this is probably the best and most viewed info on youtube TV on the internet. So read and tell me I'm not the only one complaining.
I guess I'm STUCK with commercials. Those recordings in VOD are TORTURE - 7,8,9 commercials in a row ! I can not bear it - they ruin the viewing experience ! I wish youtube tv could charge an add on fee where we pay more to avoid commercials - figure out what the advertisers are paying divide that by the number of subscribers eliminate the advertisers and then we pay like we do to get 4K with downloads - i.e. "no commercials $ 5.99/month " sign-me-up !
we are about to leve youtube tv, they dont have enough advanced proceesses like global delete. and marking watch does not work... once watch we want it to go away... there also is no need for 9 months in dvr . it iis a sellig point nobody needs... we are soon gone
pretty mind blowing you can't just delete a video in your library. Best you can do is stop its recording of the series. So RUclips TV is forced to store an incredible amount of useless data on there server. Makes no sense storage is $$$.

Are there program guides on RUclips TV? How do I record an upcoming movie on Turner Classic?
Here is my Ultimate Guide to RUclips TV for Beginners: ruclips.net/video/5sZXxOGP0RU/видео.html and here's another video where I mention TCM and recordings: ruclips.net/video/TWJ2UPaCaqU/видео.html
Yes the DVR is definitely more restrictive than other services!
The only thing that I miss from Spectrum is the Record light!🤣 Forward and reverse is a little radical.
New to RUclipsTV and love it! However, I can not get NFL games to stop recording. Every place that I can "add to library" is unchecked, yet STILL RECORDS. Please help!
How do you exit the guide to return to the show playing in the background? If you use the back arrow, it brings you to EXIT YOU TUBE TV?
I show in this video at around 6 minutes: ruclips.net/video/5sZXxOGP0RU/видео.html. It back doesn’t work, can also scroll to the very top of the screen (above HOME, LIBRARY and LIVE) and select the title that’s playing in the background.
I have my favorite series set to DVR and it’s got many recoded. My problem is I want it to automatically go to the next episode but it doesn’t. It stops at each one. How do I fix it to be continuous?
is there no way to add time to a recording ? I only get half of a 2 hour series that started as a 1 hour show
How do you resume viewing where you left off in a DVR
Hi Lauri. This should happen automatically. If it’s not, go to your settings and make sure you don’t have viewing and watch history paused. If you do, RUclips TV won’t keep track of where you left off. Navigate to settings and the privacy to check this.
Really helpful thank you!
Super helpful but my Chromebook library doesn't show the menu on the left. Maybe that's only on the TV?
I choose DVR and it still had several ads in the beginning and could not fast forward?
That’s not supposed to happen for nearly all networks. I would contact support.
Have you done a video on the new Library UI? One of our accounts just changed to it. The other has not. *WE HATE IT!*
I haven't done a video yet, but I hope to soon.
@@MichaelSaves Thanks!
Thanks.
Is there a way to share your DVR (part of full) to family members?
No, unfortunately. Some families will use the primary account as a shared DVR, then have separate accounts as well.
You can set recordings on a tablet
I do not have the 3 dots to “mark videos as watched”. I’ve checked from my phone, iPad, and laptop and that option is not available. Has YT TV changed this function?
It still works. On mobile, you may not see dots. Try a long press on a thumbnail. Finally, is your watch history paused? That could be messing things up. Separate video: ruclips.net/video/3veoxv1iQVk/видео.html

Why do shows I've already watched appear in my Library a month later
Why does my DVR have VOD in it .. makes it confusing as hell trying to filter it out
You are correct.
How do you save where you left off? I kept having to rewatch episodes or try to remember where I stopped a movie. Very annoying!!
It should save the place automatically. But if you have watch history paused, it won’t know to. Check your settings for that. It’s under privacy.
I left Yttv, came back months later and my DVR library and settings were still there.
Did it record while you were gone?
@@joshacox3110 the current shows were present when I reactivated. As far as when it was actually recorded, I cannot answer that.
Neither PC nor mobile have the 3 dots next to episodes for me to mark them watched. Any suggestions?
PC definitely should. Go to the library, select a series, then look for the three dots by episodes. For mobile, it's changed. You long press on an episode and the Mark as Watched option will appear.

How do you resume a DVR show where you left off? If I pause a show and exit the app to return later, I have to start the show over and fast forward to where I left off?
You shouldn't have to do that. It should remember. Do you have search and watch history disabled? support.google.com/youtubetv/answer/7311339?hl=en
Why when you pause a recording and you come back later to pick up where you paused it you have to start all over?
Help...how can I play recording back in SLOW MOTION. This was so fun for sports when I had DISH
You can’t
Do you know how to record all UFC events instead of having to find them before they are on? I like to watch UFC Fight Night and any other event the UFC has upcoming. I wish I could do any event like you showed in this video with your Washington games.
When I searched UFC, I was able to add UFC to the library. But I don't see any further options like with other sports. So I wish I had a better solution. You could search UFC and just add as much as you can such as UFC Unleashed and the other options.
@@MichaelSaves thank you. Maybe some day it will become available.
Thanks Michael
"By using the fast forward". How do you use the fast forward??? What appears to be what it should be (right arrow button does nothing) on a roku remote. It just sits there.
The Roku remote has a FF next to play/pause! If in your library, you can FF
Awesome to follow
A feature I like in the DVR has to do with recording syndicated tv shows. I have an active timer for Big Bang Theory that’s pulling from three different channels. As long as at least one of them continues airing the show, I’ll have the complete series in my DVR forever.
Nine months, not forever. 😀
@@danielchipman8967 "I think you missed my point."
I think you missed my sarcasm.
I can’t figure out how to get to the screens you’re showing without browsing. If I search for a show that refuses to show up when I browse, my only option is to watch a previous episode. No plus sign.

I normally record Football games an hour longer incase they go into overtime. How can I be sure RUclips DVR will get the entire game if it goes into overtime?

@@MichaelSaves I thought if you DVR something, then at some point (maybe a day later) when you watch the "recording" it will serve the DVR version to you, thus you'll get the commercials. Is this not the case? Or maybe only certain channels don't allow you to skip the commercials?
If I can reliably skip commercials on DVR'd shows, then I may just get this and finally cut the cord. :)

You tube needs to do a lot of work with their library (recordings) it is the most ludicrous layout I have ever seen. I do not need a billion episodes of NCIS showing up, I just need those I have not watched and requested to be recorded.
When I watch an episode I need to be able to just delete it and never see it again.
