Just as I was about to upload the first draft of this, I discovered that WestJet has removed the 737-600 and its seat map from their website entirely :( So, although certain parts of this video may seem more optimistic than others, I'm pretty certain this will have been my last WestJet 737-600 flight. www.westjet.com/en-ca/aircraft/boeing-next-generation-737
I heard it is just being stored as an alternation sequence until the Max re enters service completely. So it still has a lot of years left with Westjet
I always seemed to get "stuck" on a -600 when I was flying with WS on routes liks YYJ-YYC, YXX-YYC, YKF-YYC (and occasionally between Toronto and Calgary). Now that they're about to be gone I am definitely going to miss them! :(
That was a very informative and interesting video. Even if the airline retired the aircraft, it nonetheless doesn’t take away the value of your production. Thanks for your efforts and dedication.
Transport Canada database shows 13 737-600s registered to Westjet. So they haven't yet returned them to lessors or sold them. Due to 737-8 grounding, it is possible Westjet started to renovate the -600s to make up for grounded 737-8s, but after doing 1, the virus hit. Also notable: There was speculation on whether Southwest would buy the C-Series or the 737-7 which Boeing hasn't delivered yet (due to lack of orders) Southwest selected the 737-7 which means Boeing will produce the model, so remains to be seen if Westjet might buy some for the smaller density routes. On the other hand, When Westjet got Dash-8s, it likely reduced the need for smaller 737s.
The 736 was a niche aircraft designed for a very limited role. It was overweight then let alone now. Much like the A-318. It would involve another aircraft type but the A221 can carry the same load much more efficiently. DL has theirs configured to 109 so it would be basicly an exact match. But is filling that capacity market that important right now?
Have heard the 600 described as a bit of a rocket before. Also these flights are not exactly heavily loaded these days, and you need a pretty small fuel load to fly YVR to YYC!
Thank you for this informative video! Curious to know when they removed the 737-600 from their fleet? We were looking at flights YVR-YYZ at the end of May and we still saw 600 as choices. Thank you. We're now booking the Dreamliner since it's the same price as 737-800 and 737-700.
I flew this exact aircraft from Victoria to Calgary on March 12, 2020. Wanted to fly on a 737-600 again. Seems WestJet is too lazy to fly it down to Canada from Arizona. Once they bring it here to Canada, the planes can fly more.
Damn that landing looked hard… I really love your videos of flying rare aircraft, and also airlines that aren’t only in Australia, because I’ve only flown Australian airlines, being an australian
I've flown many times between YYC and YVR but always on Canadian or subsequently Air Canada - interested in hearing how Westjet's premium cabin compares with AC on this sector?
Where I live, one airline has the same seats on their Boeing 737-900ER and some 737-800, they're calling those seat Business seats. Is it considered premium economy in Canada?
It varies depending on route but there isn't much difference in Canada vs US. On that particular trip they were probably sold as Business seats, but a similar style of seat on a 787 would be considered Premium Economy.

Farewell to the WestJet short bus!
Sad to see it go.
Hi Alex can u do a vid on Flair air new 737 max they got their first one deliverd
A few days ago!
I have seen the Westjet 737-600 in Windsor, Ontario years past.
I heard it is just being stored as an alternation sequence until the Max re enters service completely. So it still has a lot of years left with Westjet
The 737-600 is one of those endangered species aircraft
Funny you say that because I have flown on them a few times with West jet and im from Australia Lol
Janet uses them 😃
I did this trip in early January also on a -600 anticipating it would be my last flight on the type. Guess we were right!
Yup, suspected it all along and they called you out! You're the James Bond of Air Canada! LOL!
I love coming back and seeing your old videos!! Your commentary is incredible. Your voice is soothing my man. I miss This -600

It's great to see WestJet holding on to their -600s
Kinda sad that WestJet silently retired all 737-600, kinda unfortunate, but lucky enough to fly it, twice in 2016
They didn't retire. They're grounded. I still see on flights on WestJet, there still operating the 737-600
@@ahmedshakeel5112 That could be a possible since most of the -600 were stored in Arizona

Nice trip report Alex
I am sure hoping that West Jet will still use some 737-600s for at least a few more years.
More likely that they keep their MAX-7 order IMO. Which would also be cool!
Wow the new seats!
Wounder if they will ever paint the new livery on to the 737-800s ,700s, q400s, sab 340s and 737 maxs in the old livery.
Yes. When there's money to spare. It's taking AC years to do theirs as well
As I was a little kid I was imagining the luggages & bags how they were transferred to the airport after I landed 🤔 Excellent flight video!
I thought they teleported 😂
Great cabin. Thanks for the review
Oh man, live TV on Westjet. As a kid I would always watch Mayday on the plane if it was on Discovery Channel. Was that bad?
when they still had tv's i was too young to remember what i watched, but the tv's hit different, old westjet hits different
Flew on the westjet b737-600 from FLL to Toronto in 2004, and Flew Air Transat a310 on the way back to FLL
Wow this plane rotates fast!

@@gmitchellfamily Cool
I'd love to see you make a video comparing the 737-600 to the 717-200, then maybe add the Airbus A318, and A220.

Thank you for this great review and the facts about 737-600... It's a well done video.
i think Tunisair is the last airline to operate the B736

Thanks for doing your part and getting vaccinated! Hoping that will change our mobility closer to the end of this year. Great vid, keep it going!

Cool video Alex, love all the edits!
Thanks Alex. Cheers from down under!

PWS got stored in Marana as well. Sad times :(
I've never ride 737-600s and 737-700.. I rode 737-800s and 737-900ERs. In my country doesn't have smaller 737NGs..
The 737-600 is so nostalgic
Yvr is such a nostalgic airport. I wanna be able to travel again 😩
Spot the Anglophone 😆 love the edits
Do you have a PPL? You seem to refer to some specific aviation terms in your videos
Well I was hoping to see this plane back at SNA Station!
The Airlines are in big Trouble because of the pandemic! Hope we Can all Fly as soon as possible! Nice Video! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I will probably have to fly TunisAir to get a 737-600 in my log now
Kind of ironic this aircraft has GPWS in its registration. Hope the -600 gets spared by Westjet

Hey!!! That Used To Be My Airplane!!!
It Is C-GPWS
Another interesting video as usual! :) No seat back TV'S !:( I think I would be taking Air Canada instead Alex...:(:)
It's only an hour, good heavens man. read a magazine?
Great job
Great job!
Man I’ll miss the -600 :(
you do why 737 800 and 737 700 is gone alex
Fly safe always. There is still this Global Virus Problem.😷
I wanna fly WESTJET B787-9 TO LONDON
C-GPWS? That's an _alarming_ registration
I ❤✈witb Westjet better than Air Canada 🇨🇦
F in the chat for WestJet’s 767s. hahaha
That's a nice registration lol
I never even heard of a “737-600”
you house in morville
10:04 what?
Alex, as a short man, can I openly say that I'm very envious of your 'comically long' legs... ?? And thanks for your excellent videos!!
Press F to pay respects to the GPWS registration
Bye Felicia
no way the tail number is GPWS lmao
I’m early :0
There were 69 built that number really? That is kinda funny.

You should try not speaking so closely to the microphone. I can hear your mouth juices moving as you speak.
