- The Boeing 737-700 is the backbone of WestJet’s mainline fleet, with over 50 aircraft in service as of January this year.
They’re one of the most common aircraft in Canadian skies, and I’ve flown them a few times in the past, but I haven’t actually done a trip report on one, until now!
See what I thought of the WestJet 737-700 on this Economy Class flight from Calgary to Atlanta!
Thanks to Will and Robert for joining me on this great trip, go check them out:

I tried something a little different in this video, by adding some music! Let me know what you think!
Prefer to hear the engines, but still great vid!
Amazing!
Good idea, love these flight reviews
Alex Praglowski Aviation I think it’s great! Amazing job Alex.
I like the addition, although I kinda prefer to hear the engines 🤷♂️
Great vid and the music is a nice touch. I heard lots of horror stories about the YYC terminal and you confirmed them for me. Somebody really wasn't thinking when they redesigned that place. Thank you for your efforts in this production.
I’ve flown on almost every Westjet special livery (even tartan tail) including 007!
JayJay Aviation wow, you must have suffered a lot! West Jet suck so much
CYQB planes spotter better then American budget airlines
@@JayJayAviation I will see. 😂 I’m going on both air Canada and west jet this summer. I’d say there definitely top 2 Canadian airlines though
I flew on the 007 737-700 on my way to lax from Calgary, it was awesome
Great trip report, Alex. I like how you always show footage of airport lounges. Everything looked great except for the double windows.
Are you ever going to do a Southwest airlines trip report because I would love to see that
First! I love the music. Keep it up!
Westjet used to have seatback tv. they removed them for wifi only ife
I flew one of their -600s YYC-JFK back in January. First, its not really IFE, its live TV, so you get to watch basically a bunch of daytime TV. Second, it's clearly aged, with many screens suffering from flickering or other issues. Also the in-flight map is... crude. I would prefer the wifi over that any day.
I thought some planes still had them I remember last year, most Regina to Vancouver 737’s had the old TVs on them
@@TheRandCrews i guess those ones havent got to the hanger yet for the change out
The screens gone suck for me since I don't have a cell. Otherwise it's overall ok.
Amazing report 👌 Nice snowy action. Interestingly, it snowed here in New York today...
Westjet is like the southwest of Canada. Their liveries are so classic I love them. That is also a very long flight for a -700.
Too funny I'm an AME-S mechanic in kelowna where west jet does most of all their heavy 737 checks and am currently doing inspections on this very exact airplane - 007
The best review! As usual.
An aircraft I am all too familiar with. Nice one!
I took WestJet from Toronto to Ottawa in April 2018. Very few passengers. Good flight. The flight crew took it easy. I see that WestJet has ~$100 fares one way between Atlanta and Calgary in September. I might go. Frontier had service between Atlanta and Calgary just before Covid-19, but they cancelled it since Canada closed its air travel in 2020.
Great report. I always try and book on Westjets older aircraft as I find the seats on the newer 800s and Max which I will never fly on again very uncomfortable . Give me a 600 , 700 or older 800 any day. My nw favorite aircraft is the C Series which beats them all for the passenger. (A big hint for Westjet) If I can do my trip on a C Series thats how I fly.
The seats on WJ's Q400's make my butt fall asleep. They're like sitting on concrete and I will spend extra money on a different itinerary just to avoid having to fly on one.
Great video Alex! That chicken looked delicious!
Great review! Have yet to check out the new terminal at YYC
Excellent report Alex, perfect !!!
Awesome trip report bud, hope things have been well for you!
You give the Best trip reports i know so keep it Up!
Great video! I didn’t know Westjet flew to ATL! Also I like the music, I use it too in my trip reports!
Hey. We have taken the calgary to orlando. Ws1416. And ws1417. It 5 hours long. I agree it aint bad but definately a long time on a plane.
Love to see your trip reports .... greetings from Guatemala, Central America
Another great trip report Alex !!! I was happy to see you got the "extra " legroom seat !
Just one little nit pick? Just wondering if you could include the flight time in the "Flight information" section ?
I know you verbally mentioned it in the video...
Thank you for sharing this trip with us . Take care and be safe.. :):):)
Keep up the good videos and also did you film this during corona
He said in the video this trip was done in January.
The music did a 👏👍🏻
He should make a trip report in Comox to Calgary
James Bond Aircraft?! Sweet!! Love Your Trip Reports Man! Can’t Go Wrong With Them Pringles!
Awesome video mate... I’m loving the music and it’s an alright airline but I remember westjet did I flight to Calgary from Glasgow I think and there was no IFE for 7hrs... keep up the great work 😃👍🏻
Great Video!
I took a WJ 737-800 from YHZ-YYZ just after Easter of this year and there were only six pax on board, including myself. It was quite weird. The Halifax and Toronto airports were like ghost towns and the only food option was Tim Hortons. I like the music in this video so I'd say keep with that theme. Nice job.
Amazing video!!
After corona I think St. Johns to London would be a cool video ( operated by air canada)
I don't know if I can interact with crew smoothly after the pandemic. I always try to talk with crew after landing and ask for some flight information. Pandemic could change everything.
Amazing trip report
Great video! This was very helpful, as I’m going to fly on this plane in a few months.
Really nice !!!
I have a feeling with the joint venture that WS will join Sky Team eventually
Hey Alex! I love your trip reports. As a fellow AVgeek I always look forward to your videos. I am taking Westjet's 737-700 from Ottawa to Calgary in May. Have you ever thought about flying to/from Ottawa?
runway 10 very rare for ATL usually 26L or 26R
Hey Alex. I have found out the Westjet CEO Ed Sims, spent 8 years as part of Air New Zealand's executive team.
9:06 banff pretzels
Yes, McCoffee is a great thing!
Great review. Can't wait for more after COVID-19 goes away.
Exactly! Me too!😀
This trip report just became even more relevant to me as I'll be flying on a WS 737-700 in seat 4A in December, really looking forward for my return to Canada and my first time with Westjet
Awesome!! Have fun!
Great choice of music
Great destination!
Due to take one of those from Glasgow to Halifax in July, premium economy. Don’t think it’s going to happen :(
Don't give up hope. I am hoping to see my family at Christmas if this virus had passed
6:23 my man activated supersonic boost💀
Nothin like the Good Old 737-700!
How did you find out what runway your on
I think he landed on the 5th runway. It's pretty easy to spot since it's farther away. When the traffic is busy it can be a real pain to taxi to the gate since you have to cross 2 active runways
was this filmed before Corona?
ADTBR yes all of these vids r from before corona
Hi Alex!
is tbis a transcon flightA??
Atlanta? Why Atlanta?
I like westJet much more ether airplane . It is more safety than others .
The irony of the magazine saying "50 reasons to travel this year" lol.... I hope they scrapped that cover after the pandemic became widespread
why were they using type IV, smh
-20...BRRRRR (that's -4F in case you are wondering) It must have almost felt like summer in ATL by comparison. We barely got into the teens (F) maybe once this winter
I love it
🇨🇦to🇺🇸✈🇨🇦Westjet better than other airlines in North America
Night time landing into ATL.
...loll...9-11 was in the movie selection! May as well include the movie Airport as well...
Rip to this bird
Idk if anyone else feels this way, but Westjet's new livery is awesome. But its frustrating that they've had it for a while and the only planes painted are the 787s and some of the max planes. You would think that they would have introduced it on the rest of their fleet by now.
Those are the same seats as Alaska’s 737s... not very comfortable in my opinion
This is literally the same flight I have lol
КАРИБИ - ГОНКОНГ
5 hours on a 737 is close to the max range.
It better not be, since I might be on a 7 hour flight on one from Dubai-Kilimanjaro airport, sometime soon, after the virus goes away.
schumi246 I thought the max range is 6 hours, I did not know that the 737 can fly for 7 hours; thank you.
Not even close to its max range
West jet is horrible for maintenance. No tv, no cabin pressure. Gave us small cans of Pringle’s chips and the lid was domed and popped when opened. No air from the air vents and no A/C. Just a terrible flight and everyone was trying to operate the non working air vents. Made me ill. They actually said that the TV was out for repairs??? No these led tvs you replace
Só não gosto de vc cobrir as caras das pessoas nos videos..elas estão em.lugares públicos.
Jai shri ram
WestJet is still better than air Canada change my vancouverite mind
westjet and air canada are practically equal
That’s true wishes they had more Intercontinental flights though
darren chan Air Canada is better, but it’s is also more expensive
You're not wrong. You don't even get a snack on Air Canada domestic.
what plane serve mcdonalds???
WJ has been serving McCafé as its onboard coffee for several years now. I just wish they'd allow me to peel off the unused coffee stickers from all the cups.
At 59 I fly worst jet first time ever.
toronto to Calgary, Calgary to Nanaimo.
Back Nanaimo to Vancouver, Vancouver to Toronto return.
Every one of those 4 flights had a story.
Not a good story. Delays and just bush league stuff.Flight crew always look at floor so not to risk eye contact that may create a request from a passenger.
They fly 737 700 on these Toronto to Vancouver.
Should be a maxy at least you would think
Ya, I said worst jet.
Thanks Alex for this reminder of what it was like to fly. I always enjoy my Westjet flights, but am sorry to say that I hate the Calgary airport. Terrible food and unbelievably ugly and uninviting public space. And to top it off, it’s not even efficient even with the little sterile train system. Sorry Calgary. Nice city, terrible airport.
Ah Atlanta...rape robbery and rioting. All in one fine city
I can't even watch these videos anymore, the voiceovers ruin them. They were so much better when you used subtitles.
