    I just picked up a 2022 Veloster N for my daughter in Miami(a new one) three weeks ago and drive 1,110 miles home. I personally wanted EN but my daughter firmly wanted VN. The car is really nice and very fun to drive. Driving composure is superb and the car is very easy to toss around corners. What a toy!!! Quite comfortable on the road. I can't wait to bring this VN to track in May. Speaking of reliability I have Elantra sports for my commute car. I racked up 72,000 miles. I never had any single minor issues with this car. I only did regular oil changes. That was it. I drove Elantra sports on the track for about 12 days hard for fun. Still not a single issue. My 2007 Honda Odyssey? I have lists of stupid issues first three years including day-of-delivery problems. The paint quality was so bad, 10% of the paint is already gone and rust is seeping in(Famous for Honda). As always, the most honest, true to life review on RUclips! As an Elantra N DCT owner, I can say as much as I love my EN, it’ll never have the brand respect and pedigree Honda or the Type R nomenclature has. And as much as looks are subjective, I think the FL5 is an amazing looking car. I’ve learned to love the Elantra N’s looks, but there is a lot going on styling-wise. But one thing about me is I’m cheap and always looking to get the most bang for my buck, so there’s no way I’d pay $50k for a Civic. But I wouldn’t pay $50k for any car lol. So for $35k, which I can stomach, the Elantra N is the most entertaining car I could get. I’m 6 months in with 10,000 miles and zero problems. I work at a hospital and you would think that a nurse should afford a type R but no in Puerto Rico the Type R is more than $60,000 and you can find N cars between $38,000 and $45,000. The only people that I know that have them are Doctors, store owners and people ho sold there old Hondas(Honda fans) and still have like a $650 to $700 dollars a month on car payment. I like the Elantra N over the Civic Type-R as you get a vast majority of its performance for almost $15k cheaper, and it offers the choice of either a DCT or a manual so that both kinds of enthusiasts can pick what they want instead of only being forced to buy one.
    The upcoming Integra Type-S could have been this for the cheap and inexpensive luxury car department but according to Acura luxury people don’t want a DCT in an Integra but want a CVT for some reason because it’s not manual? Watch that car get discontinued for low sales in 2-5 years because it’s a Civic Type-R that costs $15k more including markups over a normal CTR

    Here’s my situation:
    I like both cars, personally I’m not a performance driver, never plan to be. The car I want needs to be rugged, yet soft enough in suspension that it won’t kill me on backroads. I’ve never driven manual, so I want the engagement in the drive. But most of all it needs to be economical. The choice for me would be the Elantra N, you just simply get more for your money. I’ve been bouncing between these two and a WRX, the most of my driving is done on backroads (I drive like a normal person, so no need for super duper HP or torque) so potholes and rocks are major concern. The thing that throws me off the Elantra is the mixed reviews on reliability. I’ve heard some people say their Elantra lasted a long time, and some say the engine blows at 20k miles. But I have no way of verifying the quality of the care taken to each vehicle.
    In any case, I’ll probably just end up settling with a Civic SI and have to deal with a slower car

    From a Kona N owner, I do like the Elantra N as well. I like the idea of a type R but that price tag and the markup in some cases kind of pushed me away. i think at 50k that prices out a lot of people, IMHO. Thanks for picking the Kona though, I can't tell you how much fun that car is, I have about 6k on mine now. I put on some Yoko tires on it for the winter, I'll switch them out in the spring.

    • @slimv3.162
      @slimv3.162 Год назад

      @@nmode22 I’ll give you the simple interior design but I heavily disagree with you on the 3 door design. Here’s why, it’s a performance car that is designed for the driver that also caters to passengers. 1 big door for the driver and also 2 doors for passengers. I can’t stand driving a car that has a little door and has the pillar right by my head. To me having a big door is a huge factor. I used to have a charger then went to a challenger and the difference between doors and driver comfort was night and day for me but the lack of passenger doors killed it too. So the Veloster n imo is a perfect balance. I don’t think I could go back to a sedan ever again. Oh and that Death Star on the left side of the steering wheel on the Elantra n is just baffling stupid lol. Great performance though. Just not a driver focused car.

      I have the fk8 and the elantra N i would say the suspension or build, because the type is built stiffer than the N but dam its very close if not the same as the type r its obvious that the type r is a better made car it has more engineering put in to it for circuit racing thats the difference other than that the N is in every way the same , and i know the fk8 and the fl5 are the same thing only that the fk8 in my opinion if a more track focust looking car ,the fl5 is to bland thats why i kept my type r and just got me the Elantra N it has more tech and the interior is nicer ,it has more to it than the red seats on the fl5 the way the dash is displayed to the driver the seats has the N logo that lights up and its has Alcántara suede in the rear seats , as a Honda owner the interior on all the hondas ive had are not top quality and i know that for a fact anybody that has a type r and saids it doesn’t rattle like crazy is lying the elantra n rattles but i guarantee you its way less just being onest for those that cant test both cars before bying

      @@opadilla123 If your comments about track focus were true why isn't honda ctr winning in TCR like they did before Elantra N was released? Seems to me the EN chassis might just generate more mechanical grip. I say that based on the fact that EN (street car) is faster (than fk8) at shorter more technical road courses. Even though the fk8 clearly enjoys not only a tire and braking advantage but HP and certainly a top end power advantage as well. Not so sure about your "built stiffer/better made" comments. Do you have any actual information to back your comments up or is this just opinion?

    Great to see such a fair comparison, they really are apples to oranges when you consider the price and the availability. If you want a DCT or a hatch, there is only one choice LOL. I much prefer the look of my EN over the last gen CTR, but the new CTR is my favorite of the three.The base model Civic costs 25% more than the base Elantra, while the base CTR is only 32% more than the base EN. Yes, cars at those prices don't actually exist, but its interesting to see that the MSP differences are about what you'd expect for the step up in performance and interior quality.

    The extra practicality of the Elantra N DCT (auto, rear leg room, cooled seats) plus being 15k cheaper makes up for it's 5% less performance than the CTR. Plus... I can tune it for 1500, add performance brake pads, wider rims, camber bolts, and I'll be keeping up with the CTR if not a little ahead.

  • @postalpancho

    While I think the Civic Type R is overrated as hell, I am shocked at how practical it is and what level of performance a FWD is capable of. The only downside of owning a CTR is that the performance is fairly maxed out, not much you can do to it to make it better without compromising other areas of performance or reliability. Dealerships wanting at least $8k to 30k markup, might as well get a Porsche, Supra, or M240i.

    As a die hard V8 guy, 2 S550 GT’s, 1 Camaro SS 1LE and even an 07’ C6 Z06 in Lemans Blue, I love my American power and torque. And quite honestly, my 20’ GT PP2 is as good in the corners as anything on the market for under $50k. The same goes for my 18’ SS as well. So what am I doing here? Watching 2 imported 2.0L 4 cylinders( cute I know…) I am here for the practicality. I’ve always admired the performace of the FK8 but I would never by that car based off looks alone. Nobody would ever take me seriously in that thing. It looks like Pokémon on wheels. But this new Type R is a looker. IMO it shares the Golf R philosophy with its handsome looks. The interior is really sharp too! The Elantra N, from all the reviews I’ve seen, is tip top as well. And I love the connection with Albert Bierman(sp?) from BMW M division. It’s clear he brought a lot over from Germany to South Korea. Im interested in driving for Uber as a 2nd job to pick up some extra cash and I cannot in my Mustang. Not that I would with a V8 but the 2 doors eliminates the possibility. Uber and Lyft disqualify 2 door cars. Safety I guess. I would probably roll with the Elantra N as it is the clear winner and smarter choice $$ wise at $30k compared to $50k for the Type R. But I’m not over that front end yet. The rest of the car looks great but that front end is tough. Looks like it’s been chasing parked cars… maybe in black? Perhaps that would hide the front end more… QUESTION- is the wing on the Type R removable? If so, that seals the deal for me. The Type R is so handsome but that wing…. I do love the sound of the Elantra. Obviously with my V8 passion sounds is really big to me and the overall experience. Can you remove the wing?
