      Don't forget the Type-R costs more, and you get less with not having AWD. Seems backward, I know... you want to add AWD to your CTR, it will cost you about $20k in the aftermarket. It's been done, is how I know. You want to add nice seats to your GR Corolla, it'll cost $1000 in the aftermarket (but you can probably put in nice camry seats out of the junkyard if you tried). Do the math.

    • @Sean-gu3tq
      @Sean-gu3tq 7 месяцев назад +2

      Pretty poor comparison ... completely ignore that the corolla is 4 WD. Introduce a wet road or any poor surface and the front wheel drive Civic will be destroyed. If you are going to do a comparison put on the tyres!!!!!!

    • @copperkeyracing6167
      @copperkeyracing6167 7 месяцев назад

      @@Sean-gu3tq Also, they should put on the AWD in the CTR for $20k more... or they could add the aftermarket rear electric motors that are integrated into the wheels... oh yeah, also $20k.

      Keep in mind that +R VSC mode off (it's off but maintains the torque bias by brake) isn't available in individual mode. Individual mode has only VSC reduced. The pedal dance completely disables it in any mode.

    Great Cars, nice review Drive. The Civic is an awesome beast and the Corolla is not far behind. But these cars still are not as fast around this circuit as the GR Yaris Rallye, 1:01.80 according to Scott Newman. I would love to see all three of these cars go head to head. Wet and dry, track and road.

  • @darrenprior6339
    @darrenprior6339 10 месяцев назад +3

    I owned a Morizo Corolla and a GR Yaris (Rallye). I sold the Morizo because I could feel the weight and the width of the car on tight mountain roads compared to the Yaris. I looked at the Honda and while I loved the seats and seating position, the amazing gearbox and thumping power, it just felt way too wide - even wider than the Corolla. Not to mention axle hop, torque steer and understeer are always going to be haunting a front wheel drive car on wet mountain roads. On a silky smooth track? The Honda will destroy the Corolla, but the rougher and wetter the roads, the further the Corolla (and Yaris) will get away. In the end though, for me? I love the Yaris and will no doubt buy another one when the updated version comes out sometime next year (cross fingers)

    Wow.. Civic looks a lot smaller when next to the Corolla. By itself it looks kind of big. The GR is surprisingly fun on track - way better than I expected though I had the diff give up within 15 min every time. Some coilovers, stiffer rear bar and different wheels/tires would make the Corolla a weapon I think. I can't help but think you should have your rear seat back up a notch so the wheel is not so far away... I bet control would be finer.

    In Canada, there is a Core version of the GR Corolla priced at around $50,000 Aussie dollars with the same performance numbers as the Circuit Edition. So comparing this price with the 72,600 on the Type R, I think there is more value to have on the GRC even if it can't outperform the Type R.

  • @carsfeverguy15
    @carsfeverguy15 10 месяцев назад +3

    Loved the track battle, but could have been more objective. For the price difference, could have put them on the same tire. 4S is better then the Apex 0.32s around one lap. Never mind that the R uses 265 vs 235 for the GR. I think that on an equal tire the Corolla would have won.
