Thank you so much for sharing your videos. I just purchased a cutie frame and you sharing your thoughts and processes have given me the confidence to start working on my own quilts. Thank you so very much. Kathy
Love your vids! I just purchased my Q'nique 19, along with the QCT5 Pro automated system...already had the Q-zone hoop frame that I was using with my HQ Sweet16........It all is to arrive today. Thank you for all the videos! Very informative!
@@FogDogStudios So far so good! It's pretty amazing to watch it quilt the quilt, but I've only played with it for about a half an hour so far. I'm trying g to get the q19 to do some free motion quilting in regulated precise mode but it doesn't do anything. It just sits there even when I try to move it. It worked when I played with it the first time, but not now. I have a call into grace but so far have not gotten a call back.
In watching your videos, which are great by the way, I noticed that you are also moving your ruler while you were guiding your ruler foot along the edge. Everything that I have read and watched shows that the ruler should be held still and that the head should just be moving. I'm wondering if this is a limitation related to your frame?
I have found that when quilting with rulers, not all applications or design ideas or patterns are going to have the perfect ruler to work with them. Just using a ruler to set your machine against is sometimes all that is needed. Sometimes what was thought to be a wonderful straight line (whether loaded on the frame a bit off or just sewn a bit off) - isn't and if I quilted it straight without fudging my ruler, it would not look they way I intended. This is in no means a limitation based on the frame, it actually doesn't have much to do with the frame. Curves are a whole different ball game...I have at least a dozen different curved rulers and rarely can I find the perfect one to to use without fudging it a bit. There is no exact right way or wrong way to use them, they are a tool to help you get your desired results. I hope this answers your question.
I’m left wondering if the ruler was helpful or not when the curves were not a match. I’ve used ruler on a domestic machine so understand how I used them in that situation but when you are constantly having to watch where you are going and adjust the ruler it seems like you are having to do extra work keeping the ruler there rather then it helping.
I wondered the same thing, but, to try and do it free hand is really unpredictable for me...I’m all over the place. When I first started with the curved ruler, it was slow, but honestly, it is second nature now. To have the stability when trying to be somewhat exact (using word loosely) is where the ruler comes in. To find a ruler with the exact degree of curve would not be easy either. I have another video coming out soon where I do more curved ruler work on a whole different block. I use the same curved rulers (2 of them).
I love watching and listening to you. You are so genuine .I feel like I am wat h a friend.
Thank you! Sometimes I just babble away...I have to catch myself every now and again (LOL).
