Definitely a good skill builder! Looks good, and it sounded like it would be a lot more work than you made it look!

Thank you. Yes, dimensioning 14 small boards were mentally tough! Originally, I wanted to make all boards in the same width but there are actually +-1/8" difference among the boards but my wife didn't notice it so I'm happy, haha!

Cutting boards are addictive, they are so pretty. I don't need a cutting board so I have to stay away from looking at them.....Cutting board collection hmmmm, that would justify the purchase....lol.

Thank you! Me, too. I didn't really need it but I made one:) I like a basic simple style but maybe when I want the next one, I'll try an end grain cutting board with hand tools, haha.

@@YRTi This is the best beginner project for hand tools. You really got your hand plane practice in.

Yes! only the thing is, I think using a little thicker board will be more beginner friendly so you don't have to dimension a lot of boards. Dimensioning 14 boards were mentally tough, haha.

@@YRTi I tend to want to jump into the project without taking the time to sharpen by blades thoroughly. I am just now searching videos on techniques to reach the best outcome. Then, if I have to plane 14 boards it may be mentally draining but it won't be physically draining...lol.

Beautiful cutting board, and great video!
Some advice though. A hand planed surface takes oil better than a sanded surface.

Thank you for the compliment and the information. That's actually what I was wondering(I just followed how people make cutting boards with power tools that they finish with sanding). I usually put oil over hand planed surface when I make other projects and I have no problem with it so..

Nice project. Good practice for accurate planing. Also, what brand of sandals are those on your feet😁👍?

I usually wear either adidas or merrell, haha. It’s just for walking around the house.

Thank you! The good thing is, I made it so I can plane the surface whenever it needs to be refreshed:)
