    RIP to Dikembe Mutombo.
On Derrick Rose, I feel like he should be in the Hall. I know his star didn't burn bright for too long, but he was incredible. He deserves his flowers and deserve induction into the Hall for that, man. You can't tell the story of the NBA without D-Rose.

Per Derrick Rose (about that Miami series): “losing Omer Asik was big. Miami had a problem when we had him paired with Jo and Kurt Thomas. We could play them tougher, and Omer really had verticality that gave them trouble. He got hurt in the third game and that was huge. Played every game that season until then and then he’s out. Again, injuries. We really were closer than anyone believed. And they knew it. We felt they knew we were the team they weren’t going to intimidate.”

    R.I.P Dikembe Mutombo ☝
This 2011 will still be special for me... i am from germany, so he never had the possibilty to watch NBA, but i remeber getting a chicago bulls hat when i was like 4-5 years old, so about 1998-1999... then getting NBA Live 06, but never even watched NBA Basketball back then, still always chose the Bulls... and 2010 i bought NBA 2k11 for the PSP, since i started to watch Highlights and sometimes live games online, and Derrick Rose killed it, i was in awe just watching him... also starting up the game, the Song "Shutterbug" by Big Boi coming up and went on to play with Rose and the Bulls.
Core Memory for me, what a great player he was, even after his heartbreaking injury

Derrick Rose had a similar career to the late great Bill Walton. Both won mvps, participated in the all star game and were all nba level players, but their careers were riddled with injuries. By their late 20's they had become role players when typically they should be in their prime form. The only difference between them is that Bill Walton has two championship rings. He won his first when he was a superstar in Portland and his second when he was the 6th man off the bench for the 86 Boston Celtics. For Rose's case he had significant impact on the City of Chiacgo because they didn't have much success after MJ retired. He helped the Bulls win 60+ games in the reagular season and brought them to their first confernce finals apperance since 1998. In conclusion, i think Derrick Rose should get in to the HOF as well as get his jersey retired by the Bulls.

There is an uncomfortable similarity of Derrick Rose's career path, to that of Ben Simmons, given that they both peaked at 22. One huge difference is that this man gave his all to the game of basketball and his body failed him, and the other man's mindset failed him.

@@XGh0sT77 Agreed. The way the Sixers played us in the regular season that year, if D-Rose gets subbed out, they would've made a comeback and possibly won game 1. D-Rose's playstyle and his poor landing is what got him injured. He often landed on 1 leg after a lot of these plays, and that always scared me leading up to the torn ACL.

Stop it. Rose was in his early 20s playing 37 minutes a night. That's completely normal for a young guy and he should've been able to handle it. The problem is Rose relied almost entirely on his explosiveness and he was landing awful so many times. At some point, the player has to fix his own mechanics to extend his career.
It's the playstyle. Wade went through the same thing because he also played like that. Conversely, you see guys like LeBron were out there playing even higher minutes and were not injured. Kobe from age 27 to 32 was playing 80 games 38 minutes or 40 minutes a night, going to the finals often, and he was ok. Stockton is another big one who played 80 games a season on high minutes and didn't get injured. You just can't be out there exploding into the lane like Rose and landing all awkward night after night expecting your knees can just take that. It's why Zion and Ja have problematic playstyles... it's that same shi*.

I get that he wanted to "send a message" to the 76ers because they said that they were glad they got the Bulls and not the Heat, but that game was already won. Guys, it's the BASKETBALL Hall of Fame, the not the NBA Hall of Fame. They take your entire overall career into account. To answer the question, no, Rose should not go into the HOF. That MVP does wonders for him, but his resumé is just lacking damn near everything it takes to get into the HOF.
Ngl, I was a hater of D-Rose because I was a LeBron fan and I thought that he was robbed. In the following years, I looked back at that season and eventually admitted that he damn sure deserved it. He was definitely on the verge of a terrific legacy, but obviously, the injuries decided it not to be. However, considering his play style at the time, the injuries were bound to happen at some point in hindsight, which Rose himself admitted. He only played 39 games in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, which should've been a harbinger of things to come. Nonetheless, Rose stuck it out until the end despite all of his struggles, which deserves the utmost respect. May God be with him and his family as he enters a new chapter.
