My last abuser even had "Protector" tattooed on his wrist. Found me at my most vulnerable time, and took advantage. Be careful, kids. No matter how smart or tough you think you are, it can easily happen to you. They have a way of making you confused and feel like you're going crazy.

"Literally" as used in slang really only makes sense as a verbal hyperbole, not in literature. A character in a book could say it totally fine, but a narrator saying it is just awkward in most voices.
The worst afterlife I can imagine: being reincarnated into a tree then chopped down and turned into one of Gurg’s godawful “books” aka exaggerated diary.
Leo West I guess I meant exaggerated in the sense that Gurg sees himself as the hero and writes these books to try and portray himself in that manner. Even though us normal folks, the readers, can still see the truth through the onion madness
Fun fact: Onision named his daughter Abbigale when she was born. He now also goes by James. He legally changed his daughter’s name the same time he changed his own, so I’m not really outing her name but anyways, Do with that information what you will. Also, please don’t comment his daughter’s current name. Regardless of how much we all despise him, it’s not worth putting his kids in danger. They’re in enough danger just being in their care.
So here's something pretty minor (haHA) that always bothered me... School-Shooter dude is drenched in everyone's blood. After killing them with long-ranged weapons. Did he lay down on the floor next to his victims and roll around in their blood for extra edginess points?
I wish someone would hand this book to an English professor and a Psychology professor without any context. I'd love to see their honest, no bias, no understanding, opinion of the garbage fire.
Fun fact: one of his fans kindly offered to edit his more recent books for free and he went apeshit on her, saying something along the lines of ‘this is just my style of writing! If I write it this way, it’s intentional! You’re a bad fan!’ It’s melodramatic as hell and honestly more fun to read than any of his books.
Anyone who uses the terms alpha, beta and Chad unironically is an incel. Known fact. Greg is an incel who was manipulative enough to get underage girls to fuck him.
Actually, onisions books are a perfect read during the coronavirus. The books constantly make you want to wash your hands to get rid of the unseen grime littered throughtout the text XD
He 'forgot" to edit and revise it too. He self-published the first draft. Dumb ass. (I've written fanfiction since I was 12 as a means of practicing... yeah yeah, cue unoriginal "weeb" name calling.) I'm my fifth draft. The fifth draft is almost nothing like the first. There were so many extraneous paragraphs and weak portions that needed to be rewritten or just thrown out all together and the dialogue was awful in the first and second.

You could summarize this book to: The overdramatic, brooding, angsty main-character James has obsessive tendencies & a savior complex, also suffers from delusions of grandeur (especially about his intellect). Every other character has no real personality & exists only to reinforce those his savior complex & delusions of grandeur. Abby is basically just a professional victim who constantly tells James how awesone he is. Thats it. We learn of no other personality characteristics beyond how she was victimized by basically everyone she ever knew. Davis (the best friend) exhibits childlike stupidity with such enthusiasm that it is often situationally & age inappropriate, & he never has more than an aquaintance-like conversation with James despite allegedly being his best friend. Davis exists for 4 reasons: so the readers don't think Greg had no friends in highschool, to compliment James (aka Greg) incessantly, to later die which allows James to do his overdramatic suffering act which makes it clear the writer has never mourned anyone & so Davis's mom can give the world's dumbest eulogy where she basically sucks James off with how complimentary she is. James's mother doesn't exist for all practical purposes because she doesn't parent nor influence the "story." Abby's dad is a generic abusive, drunk asshole who exists so James can fulfill his savior complex by rescuing a delicate little flower. Its the same with both Abby's ex boyfriend, the generic abusive jock (turned school shooter for no discernible reason) & with the generic crazy pro-life teacher & part-time arsonist. There is a school shooting, a presidential visit, a fatal car accident, a funeral, an arson, & lots emo rambling. The writing in this book is awful. That's all you need to know. You're welcome. Lol
Also about Davis, I think he’s implied to be autistic? There’s a line where it says that Davis likes to play with Lego and match colours in sequences. So I think Davis also exists to be Greg’s shitty “representation” for the book
@@hexinthelilypond4213 Its been some years now since that disaster of a book so I cant recall that part but it wouldn't surprise me. Stones: A love letter to his failed relationship with Billy and how he viewed himself during that relationship, like he thought himself the victim over everything. 2nd book: His failed relationship with Sarah and how he thought himself the victim over everything. 3rd book: his Freudian slips resulting in a book filled with a sexual relationship between an older person and an illegally younger person that should be used against him in court considering that his daughter was named after the main female character until he changed her name and his own delusions of grandeur thinking that his views on religion are literally killing God that just happens to be evil in his book. It's hilarious because this is a character I've seen in media done well. Izaya Orihara from the Durarara light novels is essentially this, but it is played fundamentally detrimental to the character and his own psyche. A character segregated from the highly collectivist society that is Japan by being different and emotionally neglected by his parents as a child never had any stable adult figures to mirror how to function in such a society. And when his parents were present, he was instead encouraged to be the outside observer, never taught how to form true connections to others. But all the while desperately longing for those normal human relationships. Emotionally stunted. Living outside the boundaries of society makes him cool to the readers but horribly pathetic within his own universe.
My issue with his use of literally is that he's using it in situations when we have no reason to think he isn't being literal. It's oddly jarring. It kind of makes you feel like you misunderstood something

Who opened the Chamber of Secrets? Who is the prisoner of Azkaban and why is he obsessed with Harry? Who put Harry's name in the goblet and why? What was behind the door? Is Snape good or bad? Who will win? Each Hunger Games book was driven by a competition riddled with death left and right. LOTR had a single objective for Frodo that kept hitting crazy magical roadblocks. All these plots had drive of some sort. Something to keep you reading. These young adult novels, especially by youtubers, especially by ONISION, have nothiiiing. These books are creepily personal.
That opening reminds me of an amazing book by a Japanese author, I read in my freshman year. Though he had an amazing way of writing (not saying) people were like aliens or a different species, but he described it like the movement of bones and crunching of teeth, or how their facial features adjusted to the feeling or situation. This was 10 years ago so I don't quite remember everything, but something traumatic happened to him... and I'm pretty sure he had a personality disorder and so he spoke from that point of view. I dont remember what it was called or who wrote it. But I want to read it again to see if it is still as great as I have made it in my head. If this sounds familiar to anyone let me know!!

Groomer's books (all of them) can be summarized with 4 words: _"can't human very well"_
The way he spells Abbigale bothers me more than anything
It's almost as if he tried to base it off of Frank Abagnale Jr., but I feel like that's giving him far too much credit... 🤔
James's mother doesn't exist for all practical purposes because she doesn't parent nor influence the "story."
Abby's dad is a generic abusive, drunk asshole who exists so James can fulfill his savior complex by rescuing a delicate little flower.
Living outside the boundaries of society makes him cool to the readers but horribly pathetic within his own universe.

that would be more believable dialogue from a teenager
Oh babe when you said you were struggling with the new video I didn't think it'd be this. You're braver than I
I'm sorry for what's happened to your name, friend
@@DrCandyStriper what because of Onision? Yeah. Shit sucks
A fine addition to the collection.
Theory about Davis: it's onion boy's take on what he thinks the plebs like us actually like. He's trying to insert a sense of normalcy in all his brooding to make himself seem balanced, but he has literally no clue how normal people laugh at a joke
Now I'm worried about this Davis boy. He sounds like he was missing out on a medical diagnosis and special needs school. Poor imaginary Davis :c
Yeah I got the same impression. He sounded absolutely developmentally challenge
Hm. There's really no need to throw folks with learning disabilities under the bus just because Greg can't write a character, nobody disabled or not acts like that and also we can go to public school too 👉👉
@@_gremlinboy sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone.
@@_gremlinboy don't be offended. Obviously you're not like that. But I grew up close to a lot of people with different kinds of handicaps, some had special needs since birth, some had them due to accidents and yeah, some behaved pretty similarly. That doesn't mean I criticize people with special needs. Nor do I think onion's writing is realistic. I'm just saying something seems familiar and yeah, in my experience, there are cases similar to this.
Doesn't make his book any better though
While you might see some similarities and i understand that, being compared to characters like this is still a big kick in the teeth for disabled folk- and that includes people who can't communicate well or etc, because real people still act like people and Davis genuinely just yells random stuff and kisses up to onion. So can you see why I made the 😬 face reading the comment? I hope I'm making sense, and this isn't meant with any hate, it's just best not to draw comparisons between disabled folk and abject stupidity.
You know what's sad, as bad as this book is, this is probably the only one of Greg's books to actually have some kind of potential to be good if it was rewritten. Strip away all of the Onion bullshit and you could maybe have a John Green-esque high school YA novel about two goth or emo kids who fall in love with each other. But unfortunately because its Onision, any potential is completely squandered with his bullshit. This is Why I Hate You is just more of the same bad plot setup but with an even more unlikeable main charachter...Reapers Creek is just Empress Theresa 2.0.
"This is more emo than Twilight." Oooo she went there....I like it. Keep going. 😂
