Nice! Thinking about doing a wood bed instead of buying a steel deck and this really made me want to build one out of wood

Very nice build. Very practical and perhaps fairly inexpensive considering the cost of a new all metal bed.

Thank you! My nephew did his truck and for me and my situation it was a no brainer.. sold the bed for 600-800 (I forgot) so didnt cost me anything.. I use this truck all the time around the property now.. also makes a nice "scaffold" when I am working on the exterior of the RV I am restoring lol

Glad to see you used my middle name! 😇 I’m going to copy your idea onto my 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 4X4. I use it to pull my camper. I need a flat bed to lift my Scooter onto and haul it.

lol yeah I totally copied my nephews idea .. it was much easier then I thought and I use it for alot of things.. lol even as a scaffold to work on the side of my RV

I liked what your thinking was on this truck, I too have 04 Silverado which I want to remove the truck bed.I am 64 and getting stuff in and out is cumbersome. I'm finding the aluminum are so expensive plus most have to be custom. Did you have any further update or ideas you did, how much weight you think was the difference between the original bed and the wood bed you did. Reason i ask is I'm going to do a off road type with performance mods and i don't want to add allot of weight, i wood think it shou be lighter than the original bed

How has it held up over the last year! I just built a wood flatbed, a lot of people are saying that a wood bed will just fall apart going down the road, but they can’t give me any instances that they actually know that this has happened!!
