THE BEST FLATBED VIDEO ON RUclips. Totally respect guys that have skills and attention to detail. Oh! And respect for tools and their tooling. And for that chopper guy, and the powder coat guy, and definite respect for the draftsman. What you seen herr folks is what every man should have skill wise and what they should have in their garage. I think I'll subscribe right now!
Cory Miller wow! Now this right here folks is what I call a glowing review!😂 well I’m glad you enjoyed watching our little adventure and gained a few ideas along the way. Thank you for watching!
Cherish the rime with dear old Dad for far too soon he will be gone. I lost my Dad in 1991 and yet today I miss him. I hear his voice yet in my mind when I sit alone and look upward especially at night.
Thank you so much for watching. This ol timer is actually my uncle and we certainly cherish our time working together. If we filmed all the silly shit we get into we’d get kicked off the internet!😂
i love watching this video a father and son working together very special thank you for the video learned alot on th flatbed building may God bless you both
Fantastic! I think a Ranger would make for an excellent flatbed build! Hope this gave you some good ideas for your own approach. Good luck and Thanks for watching!
I totally enjoyed watching you and your dad having a fun time on a project together. I’m 60 and miss my father daily. Thanks it’s more than just a flatbed...
max wiedenheft thank you so much! That old timer is actually my uncle. Ya our relationship is interesting for true😂 but we have fun....and sometimes make something cool. For us it was certainly more than a flatbed and we’re happy we could share with everyone willing to watch. Thank you for watching!
That was really practical and very nicely done, on a run of the mill, work horse. Nice to see, in contrast to folks doing awful chassis mods on truly classic trucks, just for the sake of it.
Just bought a 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 for that kind of project, I like your flatbed, nice looking. This will be my next project for the end of the summer. Thanks guys, you made a great job!
Excellent Job, I have an 1985 Toyota SR5 Longbed 4x4 with a totally shot bed, looking for a new idea, and I FOUND it. THANK you so much. I will need to put tie downs on mine, as I carry a portable Fire Suppression System during Wildfire Season here in So CAL. I agree with a lot of the other Posters, you made it look fairly easy, and FUN!!!! Thank you so much for sharing, drawing up material list right now.
Andrew Browner actually there was one commenter that ruined everything by telling me to put a guard on my angle grinder😂 I can paint a self portrait with an angle grinder! I’ll be fine. That guard is for people that like things getting in their way and don’t understand rotational kick back and pinch points🙄
"What are you doing"..."Shut up", bahahahahaha, sounds so much like my dad 84 and me 60. I'm usually the one saying shut up and dad replies "What the hell did I raise". Right on guys.
Cool build Good job guys ! I'm myself into same process, building a flatbed on my 87 Hi-Lux DualCab, and this is fore sure a gold nugget for me, very inspiring ! Thanks 4R Sharing 👍
Fantastic! THAT would be a killer build. Hopefully this gives you a few ideas on how to approach your build. A dual cab Hulu’s with a flatbed! Badass. Hope we can see a video on that. Or at least some pics when you’re done? Let us know in the comments! Thank you for watching.
That is one sweet flat bed. I'm looking to build something for my 2002 Nissan Frontier. You guys have definitely inspired me. Going to add some side rails and boxes. Thanks for the video.
Todd Parker rock on! You can do it! Make a video, take some pics! When you’re done come back and comment and let us all know where we can see your build. Good luck on your project and thank you for watching!
@@4rnorthwest Thanks. I just ordered 4 sheets of steel and a 2x3 tube for $577 delivered 50 miles. I think materials is about to hit $1000 right before paint on this bed. It's going to be a challenge moving plates as I have no helper.
@@cutweldngrind Right on! Thats exciting! Moving sheets alone? Well in my video you may remember me on a forklift, using a huge sheer.... Ya those aren't mine. lol. I work for my local steel yard part time so I get wicked deals on my materials and use of all the equipment! But hey, necesity is the annoying neighbor of invention! So use rollers, levers, chain hoists, whatever it takes! But have your phone handy incase you get pinned under a sheet ya! What size and gauge sheets are you dealing with?
@@4rnorthwest I have a fork lift that will place them where I need them. I will do some minor trimming and then try to slide them onto flat bed frame. I will try filming this see how it goes. I wanted to get a small electric winch to help me pull them up.
tothegrave13 hahaha! Well than’ you so much! You know, I consider myself a decent craftsman and honestly, it was! When you learn to manipulate wood and steel your world changes. You look at everything in daily life differently. All things around us were created my some human, a human with hands, hands just like yours and mine! Knowing this you have to tell yourself, “hey, there is no reason my hands can’t make that too!” Thank you so much for watching!
I was wondering if I could get the dimensions of the material you use. I want to do this to my J10 Jeep pickup due to the fact that bad is totally rusted away. You guys did a great job on the video and building this flatbed for a truck. So if it's possible could you please send me for contact me through this video thank you
Victor Well thank you! and Thanks for watching. as for the grinder of angles, NOPE! guards on that particular tool are negative bueno! not gonna do it! 😂 i never work outside my comfort level and i can paint a freekin self portrait with an angle grinder 😉. As for everyone else, id encourage to NOT modify their tools. do as i say not as i do👍🏽
Wolfgang Kovac thank you! You should totally give it a go on your rig, it’s really not as difficult as we made it look😂 “tie downs and a hitch”? Excellent suggestions. If it were my vehicle I would have! But I was payed to do what I was payed to do. No more, no less. But believe me, I mentioned it more than once🙄
What do they charge for sandblasting and powder coating? Beautiful build. I don’t know that I could watch it through twice like the previous watcher did.
I would love to see how much the truck weighs with the heavy fabricated extraneous bed. Not efficient and economical way to build a bed on a 4 Cylinder engine. This type of build would be ideal for a dump truck. Wood slats would be ideal, efficient and cost effective
@@daviddenman7479 It's probably the speedo cable (inner 'wire' is broken or 'stuck', or is just disconnected). Might be too late now but theyre load resistor to fix your taillight hyperflashing. It hyperflashes because LEDs draw less power then a set of incandescent bulbs. When you have incandescent itll hyperflash due to a burnt bulb
An excellent point! One not made in the video. But yes, we DID in fact install inline resistors to the LED noizemakers for the “over flash”. Great stuff I've got a mint tacoma extended cab and I'm putting regular cab on it to get it 8 ft box. aluminum is some expensive in canada

Great job fellas! When my shop slowd down I'm gonna have the boys build one on a 06 f150xl and extend it to 10'😁 Cant wait!@
Nice job only one thing I'd do a bit differently would be trash those red splicing crimps and use solder and shrink wrap.
Make a kit and ship it to me..lol. Great job its a very nice design simple and useful..
Are you brothers you works very well together that flat bed looks very neat
