    We've been treated this weekend. Another brilliant video, Jesse
    Love the through holes in the bed so you can pass through 25mm 1 ton ratchet straps.
    a great family video with all hands on deck. It's like an episode of the A Team where a rutsed out old truck drives in and out drives an immaculate bad ass truck with a custom fabricated bed.
    I laughed when Jeannine opened up the box of bed liner paint and instantly threw away in the instructions. She looks like she's going to be stealing the truck from you.
    Nice to see you've made progress with the telehandler, and it's arse end isn't hung from a crane anymore
    Keep up the great work 👏 Austin in the UK

    The only thing I would do is to put pockets next to the front rack so that you could have the rear rack always on board, in case you need it, just lift it out of there and install it on the rear to be ready to transport ladders and such stuff...
    Great job, like to see that the whole family helped and aprreciated the end result!
    Thx for the vids!

    Looks good and I’m retired welder/ fitter/ fabricator for over 37 years experience! Through the years I’ve learned a lot about making pulling and pushing dogs for moving steel in and direction you want it to go! Plus I built my original trailer with all 6011 stick rods! I’ve used about any type of flux core wire and hard wire they make because I worked in a fabrication and a machine shop the whole time and out in the field for 12 years of that! Been there and done that! Now I’m enjoying watching you do exactly what I did for years! Plus I operated machinery on the farm while I was learning to weld! We had a chop saw to cut steel but my boss was too much into his own ideas to buy us a circular saw for cutting steel! Headache rack looks good Jesse, I like using rectangular tubing for it! As long as you paint it quick! It’s good hear your use the 345 method brother! A lot of people and young fitters don’t know that! I like the rebar look and if you have the time I like to heat the rebar red hot and twist it slowly while moving down and twisting as you heat! You have some good ideas brother! Yeah I love your big family truck Jesse, it’s going to be a sweet rig my friend! I liked the idea when you were removing the bed from it!

      While I agree with your comments .. I just need to say that there are plenty of kids who grow up in the "big city" that turn out just fine. Different skill sets are learnt .. some good .. some bad .. but city folk (for the most part) still want to raise the kids as best as they can .. just like country folk. We are more similar that different. Cheers.

    Jesse - I've long enjoyed watching videos by you, Andrew C., "Dumpster Dave", as well as Jonathon Winans from North Carolina. This video stands out in my mind as the best by far of any I've seen in the last few years. The presentation was perfect with no stumbling, wasted words or wasted motion. The entire project held me "spellbound" from absolute to beginning, including the design and fabrication - step by step. I'm a retired electrical engineer from the aerospace industry with many years experience in systems design, development, and test. You demonstrated a clear ability to plan, demonstrate/explain and fabricate something with the utility, flexibility, robustness, and beauty. It was truly a pleasure watching this, including the participation of the family, perhaps one of the best benefits of the whole endeavor - "Mama's" approval, and even excitement.
    Great work, sir.

    I had an old 68 ford f100 and I built a flatbed for it and I loved it and used it, I added a vise and a side toolbox and used it a lot! Old 68 Ford with three on the tree and a 302 with dual exhaust with thrust glass packs! Sounded like a beast coming down the road brother but that was before I had kids! Mine was a single cab short wheel base!

Today when I opened RUclips I realized you already had an updated video to the truck's bed that you ripped off with your excavator. This is what I call a real good timing series, better than Netflix. Here I am, you have my full attention!
    P.S. You and your brother had me cracking when you speak finishing a sentence with a whistle, I think, if I can recall the reference, some cartoon from the 90's use to do that, man that was freaking funny. Also when Noah said; What the hell! you stupid!

    Newer vehicles can have the configuration changed in the computer to turn off the turn signal lamp out indicator (hyper flash). On Fords you would use Forscan, it looks like Dodge has the Alfa OBD app.
    On a 2004, you probably could change the turn signal relays instead of adding resistors, but since it's already installed no need to change it.

    Jesse, I love your work. As a mechanical engineer, I advise adding another connection from the bed to the truck frame near the gooseneck hitch. You’re asking a lot from the connections you have.

    • @jmuller86
      @jmuller86  3 месяца назад

      I used the connections that the frame originally had. Any more than that and I would have to weld to the frame on the top flange which is always frowned upon. (8) Half inch bolts to carry a max of 13,000 lbs doesnt sound like enough to you?

    • @motor2of7
      @motor2of7 3 месяца назад

      It’s the load path, not just the bolts.
      20,000lb loaded trailer. Emergency stop. Trailer brakes may not be all they should be.
      That load goes from the ball, into the frame and gets reacted by 4 standoffs welded to the frame. Your standoffs are probably 1/4”, but they’re bolted to a frame that’s much thinner, so the strength of the joint is dictated by the weaker material.
      That load results in a shear force on those bolts that is dependent on a rusty frame bracket.
      The single shear strength on a 1/2 grade 5 bolt is only 1500 lbs, and the capacity of that connection could be less if it’s significantly rusted.
      A couple shear plates that tie your frame the truck frame in the middle would add a lot of strength.

    I’m a relatively long time subscriber (before Jesse helped AC put the addition on his castle). I think the last two videos on this free, sad old truck may be my favorite and I’ve pretty much watched them all. I really can’t say why except you turned a scrap heap into a really nice truck and you did it the right way. Your editing skills are now great, I love the long format pieces, and I think the new workspace has already paid for itself.

    The sow's ear is looking like a well-made silk purse.

    I have built a few flat beds over the years and even have used 1/2 rod on the rack.im definitely going to use the inside pocket idea on the next one.

    The truck turned out amazing. I like the flatbed on trucks. I jokingly call king cab flatbed trucks “Mullet Trucks”
