It's super cool. In Hawaii (Honolulu) the department used to have Ford Interceptors. But now they switched to Ford Fusions. And recently they been rolling out the Ford Explorer SUV. HPD is unique.... after about 10 years on the force, you can apply to become a motor unit (not Traffic Division). Once your approved, you get a subsidized vehicle. In which you pay 1/2 for the vehicle and the city will pay for 1/2 of the new vehicle. And this vehicle you are allowed to take home. There are no markings or decals on a motor unit other than a department light bar that must be on when on duty.
On top of the fact that you get free gas while on duty + monthly allowance to up keep the car + the city pays for the motor vehicle registration and safety check.
Once you make motor, you no longer have to transport suspects/prisoners in your own vehicles. So there is no cage in the car either. So there is way more room. And there is a list of approved vehicles that the officer can choose from. Specific Models of Toyota (Camry, Highlander, or 4 Runner), Nissan (Maxima or Altima) Dodge Charger, Honda Pilot, Chrysler 300, or Ford Explorer.
It would be funny if something like this was in GTAVI, I'd love stealing it and storing it like I do with all the cop cars in those games. In any case how long is MBPD gonna have that thing until it gets raffled or auctioned?

What kind of quality recruit is going to be enticed to join an agency because they have a flashy promotional vehicle? If I was looking to join a department, I’d be far more interested in the organizational culture, availability of special units, pay, benefits, etc.

In the Miami area there are over 25 municipalities alone so it’s a way to stand out! once they have your attention, then you may inquire more as to the benefits and such.
