  • We look at new construction lumber, studs that warp and twist in two weeks of installation. All the studs were purchased at the same Big Box Store at the same time but different manufactures. Different results. Look at your lumber.

It angers me they sell such garbage. Ive got a pile of useless studs also. So badly twisted and warped, just useless.

Would blocking not have helped prevent this?

If it had noggins and was screwed it wouldn't have moved. That wood was wet when it was installed guranteed

Do you use any horizontal members to stop the studs warping and twisting? See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwang

It probably was properly kiln dried but later left out in the rain

Nope, don't think so. I have KD studs in my house that were left in the rain and they didn't experience the same level of bowing as the studs in this video. Also, notice how clean the studs look. Mine look nasty with dark patches all over having been left outside in the rain for months.

I feel bad for the employee being blamed for obviously bad timing by the employer. He should’ve started the job earlier to finish the house before the weather destroyed it. Hope the employee isn’t getting sued.

Total contractor lazy error blaming the material in front of the homeowner who in the end gets to pay twice to have it done right!

Well maybe you should get the job done quicker

It would have still twisted once dried. Ive seen plenty of houses sit and never get twisted and bowed that bad just within a couple weeks.
