John Denver singing James Taylor, this is more than awesome!
Everybody talks about his voice but John Denver could PLAY.
Who couldn’t like John Denver. ❤️
Where John goes - the skyyyyyyy's on fire. There's just something about his voice that moves me. Great duet.
Absolutely fantastic. Listening here in Ireland, 2022. Just don't make em like this anymore.
Listening in Scotland and totally agree with you!
This is exactly how I would expect a John Denver cover to sound! So full of life and energy - we lost him too soon
John Denver has a stronger and more dynamic voice than James Taylor. Another thing that amazes me is listening to Tom Jones doing folk-style and country-style singing and pulling it off very effectively and believably. This man could sing the phone book and make it enjoyable.
Loved his guitar playing, and his voice was magical. I wouldn't mind going back to that time...
John Denver live is absolutely fantastic. Such a rustic voice. Would argue he sounds better live than on track.
I really enjoy the live recordings on RUclips for this reason!
Really Good Memories
I'm amazed at the number of people I've met who don't like John Denver. They say he's sappy or he was a phony because of the bed cutting and DWIs. I say he was a human being who made mistakes, but more than rectified them with all the goodness and positivity he spread. A genuine, caring soul taken too soon
We all have our breaking point.
I've heard the same things and more. But, I ignore the naysayers.
Yeah its completely baffling to me. So so underrated
Bed cutting
@@annoftheoldbogroad1534what is bed cutting?
@@stevek6518 When he didn’t like his woman. He cut the bed in half. He had some odd behaviour
In his day, Tom Jones had one of the most distinctive and powerful voices and there weren't many who could share the limelight with him and compete, but John Denver certainly did here. My all time favourite singer, bar none, for more than 45 years. Saw him in concert numerous times, met him and got his autograph. A gift to us, taken far too soon!
Found this jewel a year ago, and it's by far better than the original! RIP JD
John Denver preforming Carolina in my mind just made my day
Wow... John Denver, and Tom Jones, singing a James Taylor song... I may cry...
I’m literally having the same reaction right now! 🥺❤️💯
LOVE JOHN DENVER ❤
Never knew I needed this duet in my life. 🙌
Awesome two big voices, John Denver I saw him 1980 in Germany in Düsseldorf. I was 15 years and he was my hero his voice is so beautiful. To sad that he passed away so early! Tom Jones great voice is magic is unique !!!! Bravo!!!!
John Deutschendorf
@@odettehokemeir4425 Genau !
what a great duet,wonderful song
John Denver has been a favorite of mine for 30 years. And still to this day nobody comes CLOSE to his voice and persona in my opinion. A true one of a kind. That voice was a gift sent from the heavens. Just listen to it and fly away to dreamland. Who else could sing Carolina in My Mind like this? Nobody.
Great cover version of a great song by two talented voices!
John Dener is a given but one forgets how good Tom Jones was
I was in the audience when he did Austin City Limits in the 90’s. I got to meet him before the show. Great guy.
This is a great video
Now with God
Love this version! Basically because of John Denver, but I like Tom Jones, too.
I really miss John Denver! He was so special and had such a great talent.
You said it
And 👍for Big Jim exchanging it with Big John.
Wow, Tom Jones and John Denver performing on the same stage! It's amazing the entire planet didn't explode for the sheer awesomeness if this event!!!
Just so great to hear this so many years ago😊
They are both amazing artists. John Denver knows how deliver in the most splendid way. Oh how I wish. I'm reminded of the song "Forever Young". Thank you. Another gem.
Country men, here we meet again.
I LOVE JOHN DENVER!!!! there will never be anyone that equals him,i wish i was born sooner ,i never got to see him. it makes me sad to never have been able to meet such a great person.
I feel it too, such a pity
You really did miss the best, I was lucky enough to see him seven time and met him in 1982 at the royal Albert hall London, a great entertainer and gent
I was so lucky and honored that I was able to see him at three separate venues and he really was a special kind of entertainer. I have loved him and his music since Take Me Home, Country Roads.
I can feel sad and play this and I smile. Miss you John, RIP.
it's unreal to see that John had just turned 27 !
I didn't know that I needed a John Denver cover of "Carolina in my Mind" till I saw this video
I love this beautiful a tribute to James's baci x
JOHN DENVER WAS YOUNG,FULL OF ENERGY AND AMBITION
I love this version - it's beautiful!
I can listen to this song forever!
Free Fox the one song I can never get tired of no matter how many times I’ve listened to it
Me too
I drive people nuts with it. Have you watched;; Alison krauss.? Boy she does a great job 2
Beautiful voices!
WOW....John Denver was so special, and to have Tom Jones together. WOW.
I would do anything to have this on iTunes , it would sell a million copies.
Two of the purest singers of all time, such great harmony.
Sure miss JD. Makes me feel like something is missing in my life when i think he's really gone. Rest in Peace JD.
I feel the same way. John and I were close friends when he was at Texas Tech. He was a jewel, and one of the kindest people I ever knew.
wow ... you actually new JD. You where so fortunate to have met and known him. He was so special
@@Jazzycat47 Blessed. I loved his music as a child, my mom grew up in Socal with a music background, and she also loved Tom Jones too! Both were very popular in Japan and even Studio Ghibli, who are like the Disney of Japan, used "Country Roads Take Me Home" as a theme song to one of their movies in the 1990s.
John Denver was the earliest musician speaking up for environmental conservation and world hunger. He was a jewel of a soul.
I'm brought back to the back of my parents car on the way to camping. 💛 The vibes.
Two of the best ever, God Bless you John, such a great singer with one of the best!
I like John's version on his album. When the great singer sings the great song, nothing can go wrong.
Holy shit. Did not expect this... Put a grin on my face lol
I'm just finding it now! I feel the same!
I love this song. I just Love to listen to John Denver.
Well, this is surreal -- a guy from New Jersey and a guy from Wales (friggin' WALES!) singing a song about North Carolina ... and yet, it works.
What an unlikey and ,yet, great duet!
I'm a big fan of John's and in fact I was born on his 27th birthday so this was broadcast when I was just a day old. Wow!
Half my family are from South Wales, too, which is where Tom originates from.
I agree with psnTurok35. Why does a great song like this sung by two greats get so few hits, where Justin beiber gets thousands. I got to see John Denver in concert back in the late 70's I'm so glad I did.
This song was taped just one day after John's 27th birthday. And I was also born in Carolina, South Africa! He was also an excellent guitarist - they were playing Dallas Rag as effortlessly as if they were having a cup of tea - or something!
I LOVED THIS VERSION!
What a fantastic version of a great song!!!!
I had forgotten about this show. But, it was over half a lifetime ago for me.
If I think about it now, that was when I was introduced to the fine voice of JD.
This is the most amazing version of "Carolina" I have ever watched. Thank you for the upload.
Yes, awesome! He was having so much fun and sounded terrific. Thanks again for a wonderful video, Masassa.
I love TOM JONES... enuff said
Put it back in your pants.
Excelente versión. No conocía a ninguno de los dos cantantes. Saludos desde Salta, Argentina.
Amazing talent...and great live singing.
This is surprisingly good. Put a smile on my face.
I was just in the Blue Ridge Mountains in western NC and was thinking of this song🗻👍
I love this. I have listened to and watched this over and over. I am glad that it was posted as it is a forgotten gem.
I like JT`s version, too. But this is my favourite one! More animated, so beautiful!!! Today is JD`s death anniversary...
We miss you John
I live in Carolina!!!
Love them both soooo much!
This was a delightful surprise. Thanks for sharing!
Tom Jones was my dads favorite singer & I love John Denver, so sad he died so young 😢
My dads passed away now but it brought a smile thinking about my dad and his unique brand of playfulness. 💞
im welsh and john was awsome tom well he tried but he was good too
This is just great! This was the John Denver we all fell in love with back in the early days. Tom Jones doesn't sound like himself in this, which is a good thing. Nice job.
Several years ago there was a program on PBS discussing singers and singing by vocal coaches. The consensus of the group was that Tom Jones had the greatest singing voice. While I do believe that he is great, John has much more ability to add to the lyrics with sensitivity and texture. I was lucky enough to hear him live. Mic's couldn't resolve all in his voice.
Nice version! Upbeat!
Thanks so much for posting, this should have been released as a single it would have made the top five in the charts brilliant combination of Johns unique voice coupled with the talented Tom Jones.
A long life John Denver fan.BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow two of my favorite singer's John Denver and can't how many times seen the fabulous tom jones in concert awesome performance!
Cool
Liked it a lot. Both great singers in their own right.
Awsome end!
... and awsome John Denver!
💓 John Denver💓
Love, Love, Love this! One of my favorite videos on youtube!!
The beginning is hard!!!
Wow!
I had no idea he could pick like that!
I can't help saying it, over and over again: James Taylor is awesome, Tom Johnes is one of a kind, but as John Denver sings it's different. Different from anything in the world.....
Amen, John had an incredible voice.
renger29 poche
He was Colorado
John sang it with a kind of mirth that was missing in other artist’s renditions
There is the strangest clarity and purity to his voice, after all these years... his harmony in the chorus touches my heart across time and space.
2021 Rules forever.
Hottest duo ever!
The greatest duo in my opinion is Willie and Waylon.
Slow it down to 0.75 playback.. it sounds a lot more like JT’s version. Don’t know which one I like better. John Denver was so gifted and you can tell how much he just loved making music for music’s sake
Good one
Is he wearing a leisure suit? Ouch. Great singing though. Thanks for sharing this.
Can we just see how truly underrated The Talented the Tom Jones is, I was looking for a James Taylor John Denver collaboration and I will have to say this it's probably close if not as good as that would be if that hasn't happened, Tom Jones has a voice that doesn't age and that pretty much doesn't belong to one genre of music, he's wasted Keith Urban before Keith Urban could even be thought of, even on The Australian Voice think I can still seem like he's too. I would like to see him come back with a show like this I still think you could do it. And just bring on different talented singers or showcase them maybe even from the Australian version of The Voice start the American version of The Voice. I don't know I just think that that would be pretty cool, like you did here. Legends are like wine.
Never thought anyone could kill the intimacy of this beautiful song, but Tom and John have. Turned it into a fucking pop song
@ice2 k If you want to see how this song should be covered, check out Alison Krauss
I prefer this version over James Taylors honestly.
omg! John Denver..you're always on mymind…….RIP...…..I love you....8/3/19
Awesome!
I love it,this wonderful song, because my beautiful name is Carolina
What's been the latest with you
On John's 2nd album. I put this version and JT's 1976 remake in my Denver playlist. Thanks for the upload!
Perfect times two. Wow
1:16-1:25 magic
"0:29. Toms like "John, Bitch look into the camera.'"
Damon Alexander Lewis Hahahhahhhh
RIP. John
Love youtube and long forgotten classic footage!!!
@psnTurok35 Plane crash... so sad to remember. He loved flying... and died flying. Now he`s flying for ever....
Wow
❤❤❤
A great video - I only have the audio of this version before. Thanks for sharing. By the way, the second piece of music performed by JD & Jim Sullivan is called "Dallas Rag". JD used it in his intro to "Deal With the Ladies" in the BBC Show.

VADO DI NUOVO IN CAROLINA ! FOR EVER!
