I love you James thanks for helping me and so many others. :)

I had the best seats I could buy to see James in Baton Rouge so that my wife could see him which was something she always wanted more than anything. She was recovering from major brain surgery and was doing well. The very day he was scheduled to perform, she had a very sudden relapse and instead of going to the concert, we spent the night in the ER. Three months later she was dead from a previously undiagnosed glioblastoma tumor. Nothing he will ever sing will do nothing but bring me to tears. “Going to Carolina” is the hardest since it was one I played late one evening as we drove to...Florida (!), on our first road trip together in my first new car. That song came up on her favorite cassette and i looked over at her in the passenger seat and she was sound asleep. That song and that moment will never leave me. She was so young and beautiful. We were married for 27 years and she was twelve years younger than me. She died four years ago and I still miss her so much.

“Gone to Carolina in my Mind” - 1971 Fall in Chapel Hill JT played Carmichael Auditorium (then UNC’s basketball facility) - I got 2 tickets but my sister, a HS senior, adored James - so I gave girlfriend Patty one ticket & sister the other - an hour before showtime I snuck into Carmichael via adjacent Woolen Gym - a guy in the tunnel asked me why was I there? - I told him I was with the stage crew - unexpectedly he assigned me to carry some co-axle cable up to the spotlights - Minutes later I moved down to floor level and laid Patty & sis’s blanket front row - I put a song request list on the piano - the week before event Patty & Sis had a screen printed t-shirt made with “Sweet Baby James” on front (green field with yellow letters) - I took the wrapped shirt to the dressing room but was stopped so I asked security to deliver it - the outside doors opened and Patty & sis joined me at floor level - within 10 feet of JT’s virtuosity - he played his first set - took a brief intermission - then started playing again - after a few more songs Patty pokes me & points toward the entry way from dressing room - leaning against the wall wearing the t-shirt was Carly Simon! No shit! - can’t wait to return to Chapter Hill - Class of ‘74
I heard him sing TO ME when I was in high school. I'm now at the stage of reminiscing and hoping for more years to hear him sing. He composed songs that resonates with the many passages that life pass through Relationships came and went but James stayed and helped me deal with the pain. He has always comforted me. Knowing that I have a friend in him made believe that that's why he's here. I've never turned away. He is more than a handy man. I love you, James.

No shit! - can’t wait to return to Chapter Hill - Class of ‘74
I love your sweet amazing story!
Beautiful song and he sings it with feeling from the heart. Ageless.
Very finely crafted James, I love it. Thanks.
I heard him sing TO ME when I was in high school. I'm now at the stage of reminiscing and hoping for more years to hear him sing.
He composed songs that resonates with the
many passages that life pass through
Relationships came and went but James stayed and helped me deal with the pain. He has always comforted me. Knowing that I have a friend in him made believe that that's why he's here.
I've never turned away. He is more than a handy man. I love you, James.
He never sang better.

I live in the UK, but I have spent every Christmas since I was 6 years old in North Carolina with my mum’s family. I’ve made countless memories there and I love the place with all my heart. However, the year is currently 2020, so I guess I’ll also be going to Carolina In My Mind this year.
George, sorry that you're not going to be making the trip this year, but rest assured that your adopted state is still here. There's no show of wear from the events this year.
From the 'ol North State: I'd like to wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday. Come on home, when the flowers start blooming.
@@felipew1938 Your comment has brought a tear to my eye. It’ll be tough to be away, but nothing could stop me from coming back as soon as it’s safe to do so. Thank you, my friend.
