- LYRICS:
If your memory serves you well
We were going to meet again and wait
So I'm going to unpack my things
And sit before it gets too late
No man alive will come to you
With another tale to tell
And you know that we shall meet again
If your memory serves you well
Wheel's on fire rolling down the road
Best notify my next of kin
This wheel shall explode
If your memory serves you well
I was going to confiscate your lace
And wrap it up in a sailor's knot
And hide it in your case
If I knew for sure that it was yours
But it was oh so hard to tell
You knew that we would meet again
If your memory serves you well
Wheel's on fire rolling down the road
Best notify my next of kin
This wheel shall explode
If your memory serves you well
You'll remember you're the one
That called on them to call on me
To get you your favours done
And after every plan had failed
And there was nothing more to tell
You knew that we would meet again
If your memory serves you well
This wheel's on fire rolling down the road
Best notify my next of kin
This wheel shall explode

"This Wheel's On Fire" - written by Bob Dylan & Rick Danko. Performed by Robert Haigh. Видеоклипы
I've always liked this song, co-written by Bob Dylan and Rick Danko. It was first recorded by Bob Dylan & the Band in 1967, but not released by them until 1975. Julie Driscoll did a great version of it with Brian Auger & the Trinity, and it was a big hit for them in the UK in 1968, also making the charts in several other countries.

Bravo...très belle chanson.
Thank you very much!
Hey, Robert! Your memory serves you well, as does your guitar and voice as you perform this great tune. Rick Danko’s voice was so unique and your cover certainly is a fine tribute. Cheers, Bill
Thank you so much, Bill! I always loved the Band (and Bob Dylan, of course). Such a shame that most of them are no longer with us.

Nice one Robert. You pick some good ones to interpret in your styles. Most enjoyable.
Thank you Mike! I'm glad you like it!
If I remember correctly, this was part of the basement tapes, bootleg series. I ended up purchasing the "new" basement tapes - Lost on the River (Deluxe Version) released in 2014, which was not my intensions. This version which you performed very well was the album I wanted to purchase. I love the lyrics how raw it gets, like a real good slap in the face (In a good way). You brought back some fond memories when I heard you play this and with a lot of emotion in your voice. The guitar fits perfectly. Wonderful rendition, Robert. Very well done! :-)
Thank you Bret! It took a while for me to appreciate Dylan as a performer. I always recognised him as a great writer, but I preferred other people singing his songs. Slowly that changed, and I began to appreciate his ability to bring wit and irony into his own performances. I don't have any of the "Basement Tapes" but I do have many of his albums on CD, including the triple-disc "Biograph" collection, which contains many alternate takes and several previously unreleased songs. Dylan is now one of my all-time favourites.
Fantastic cover Robert!!!
Thank you for your kind words, Valerie!
