"Tiptoe Through the Tulips" cover by Reina del Cid / Toni Lindgren
HALLOWEEN STREAM: www.crowdcast.io/e/hauntedlib...
Since it's now officially spooky season, Toni and I decided to do one of the lowkey creepiest songs out there -- Tiptoe Through the Tulips. Granted, it's really only creepy when Tiny Tim sings it, and even then there's a certain beauty to it. One of my favorite chord progressions of all time. If you want to learn how to play along with us, you can get the chord sheet on our Patreon at the "Mayor" level. / reinadelcid

Wonderful sound from that tiny mic!
Went to Audigo and did not see a mic that looked like that.
@@pcatful we put a windscreen over ours because it was windy this day when were shooting, so that’s what you’re seeing here, but it’s the same mic underneath. :)
@@elleandtoni Thanks! I was beginnning to suspect something like that. I am looking for a gift for my wife and don't know a lot about it but she uses iPhone and iPad for recording (among other things). And your video does sound great. (Caught your show in S.F. --awesome evening!)
Reina, you and Toni have the greatest vocal + guitar synergy I’ve heard since Eva Cassidy. Is it possible you guys could cover her version of Over the Rainbow? Thank you
I am glad the original intro to the song has been included. I don't know what possesses those who cut the original composer's intro and go straight into the verse.
Creepy no more. Reina's voice and Toni's playing made this song sound like an afternoon treat.
The classiest version I've ever heard.
Was never creepy, always been a good song.
@@JumboJimbo015 Agreed! My mother sang it for her children loooong before Tiny Tim came along to sing it. I used to sing his version at Girl Scout meetings. 😆
Kept on hearing that high voice in my mind cringe cringe. Yes old song that got creepyfyde with a ukulele
Never thought it was creepy but love this version. Awesome rendition! I guess I never heard all the lyrics b4!! It's really sweet. Who doesn't want to stray through flowers? And get kissed in the garden? ...❤❤❤❤...
With their busy, long, grueling world tours, I selfishly wondered if they would ever get back to weekly Sunday morning videos. Reina did sign off with "see ya next week", so maybe I can get back to my routine of looking forward to the next video each week. Those 3 minutes are definitely the highlight of my week.
Herbert " Tiny Tim" Khaury died in 1996 at age 64. I never knew this was a real song. Reina and Toni as usual can make any song seem like they own it. Great job ladies.
He died and was buried in Minneapolis as nobody claimed his body
@@captainkangaroo4301 Being from the Twin Cities I had heard that he had been living in Richfield MN a suburb of Mpls. and yes buried in Lakewood Cemetery. I saw him in person one year performing at our state fair with other 60's acts. I felt bad for him as laid flat on stage kicking his legs in the air, only for a laugh. If you watch his early appearances on the Tonight Show, you can see he was genuinely a very nice man. I love this version by Reina and Toni.
His version is actually a cover.
Toni’s guitar and Regina’s voice, with a subtle vibrato, perfectly complement each, with Toni’s harmony too makes for a gorgeous sound.
For a song that was written in 1929, you two make it sound awfully current. A really excellent reveal of a time capsule.
Still beautiful in these 20s. Never a better version than this one.
Never heard it sung and played this way. Wonderful.
That's great that you credited Nick Lucas, the guitar-playing troubadour who made the first hit record of the song in 1929.
She absolutely nailed that guitar solo
Reina's singing is particularly nice on this one!
That's what she said!
When I just saw the title of this come into my notifications I thought - oh no!. But as always you pull off a great version of any song you do. Excellent.
I remember Tiny Tim singing this live. Great to hear this good old song again!!
So often, your covers blow away the original versions! Love you !❤
super fun cover. love how you adapted to the one mic with towel-wrapped shaker + tambourine.
The Toni harmony tho, cutting through the creatively muffled perc...loved it!
Great guitar, fantastic percussion, AND, I love Toni’s hat!
Thank y'all for putting Tiny Tim's version to bed !
It was pretty hard on the ears.
Once again, it is awesome to see & hear the two Most Talented 🎵 Musicians & Vocalists around.
I remember Tiny Tim doing this on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In late sixties. We all thought it was just another gag like Lily Tomlin doing The Phone operator or Artie Johnson doing the dirty old man. And it was and it wasn’t. Because Tiny Tim continued to do that gag for many years. He wasn’t joking. He was dead serious.
His performance seems like a joke, but it was a joke he was in on. He was actually quite a scholar of turn of the century and 1920s music. I'm not sure where these things are archived, but he did an appearance on Terry Gross' Fresh Air many years ago, and his depth of knowledge and his self awareness were remarkable.
Toni's playing, singing and beauty shines. Reina's voice is so wonderful with an old classic. Together they bring peace and enjoyment to my world.
The quality of the recording was great!
Wonderful version! Always a great pleasure! It's so good that you keep this kind of music constantly alive! Thanks a lot for that!!!
That was great!!! I love the guitar arrangement and selection of the particular accoustic instrument you use, Toni. I always enjoy you both. Thank you.
Another totally delightful musical moment!!! Thank you Reina and Toni.💕💕💕
This was so beautiful to listen to 🎵
Flashback … Tinny Tim and his ukulele hitting the talk show TV circuit doing this song …
I used to sing this song with my mom when I was little. Thank you for reminding me of such beautiful memories.
Gorgeous, Lady Del Cid and Lady Lindgren 🙂
I dreaded hearing this - as, when a child, I remember Tiny Tim's somewhat interesting version version. However, I should have know when you two took charge of it, it would be so much better. Cannot say I especially like it even now but your singing and playing were so good to hear - much better than the tune deserved methinks. So, yet again, thank you so much for your excellent performance, ladies and keep rockin'... or should that be tip-toeing? All the best from the UK.
I have NEVER heard this played on anything other than a ukulele before! Wonderful. Thank you, ladies!
So cool, outstanding arrangement, so great to hear!
Really beautifully done ladies. Seeing the title of the video I wondered which of you would be playing the uke. Glad you went for a proper cover of the song. Would have hated to miss out on what was a spot on job by Toni on guitar and a beautiful job by both of you on the vocals. Great out of the box song choice. As always, looking forward to whatever is next.
You both are in excellent voice here!! Great job.
I love your covers! I so appreciate the joy you ladies create. Please keep them coming!
I don't find the prefer word for this lovely, beautiful cover ❤❤
I wish I were in that garden.
Wow, wow, wow. Best rendition of this song I've ever heard. Bravas!
Original song by Joe Burke (1929) popularised by guitarist Nick Lucas and with words by Al Dubin. Lovely performance by Reina and Toni!
Thank you both for another beautiful song.
I love this kind of swing style songs.
The progressions are really endearing.
One more thing on the schedule (to practice)...
Outstanding Ladies!!!
I've looked at many renditions of this song and this is by far the best
so far, in my personal handbook, ur captivating renditions of jambalaya, cold cold heart, and octupus garden were unbeatable to-date!!! more power and more awesome music for the world to enjoy! tks mucho, ms Reina and ms Toni!
I remember watching Miss Vikki marry Tiny Tim on the Johnny Carson's Tonight show. Thx - glad you posted :)
What a great version! Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
im 62 years old so Im old enough to remember when tiny tim got married to his girlfriend Miss Vicky on a live episode of The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. i think it was either in 1970 or 1971. my parents let me stay up late to watch it. to this day I think it was one of the most bizarre things i've ever seen via any type of media. tiny tim ( true name herbert khoury was certainly a novelty act with a capital " N". i never expected that you guys would do a cover of one his songs .....but one of the things i love about RDC is your choice of songs in your videos; both your covers and original songs. keep the great videos coming!😊❤.
This is a pleasant surprise. Nicely done... Sounds easy to sing but those opening lines had to be very precise ... add beautiful harmony and playing and this is a real treat!
Sweet. Tiny Tim made a parody of this tune which never appealed to me. But you guys, you guys made it a joy to hear.
Oh, beautiful beautiful beautiful. BEAUTIFUL.
Happy Sunny Sunday! Thanks for brightening my day. 😊
Toni has the outlaw cowgirl look down. Even the "get along doggies, hi-yah" wave :)
Fantastic rendition of an old classic tune.
Great. I can remember when Tiny Tim did this in the 70's. Dang when did I get old?
As always lovely. What a Dublin gig! Amazing, unforgettable and great 'craic' too ( it's an Irish word--not what you might think it means). Come back soon..
I didn't recognize the song right away, but when you sang the chorus, I felt a chill running down my spine as I flashback into some horror movie !
Beautiful
Duo impeccable voix et guitare bien équilibrées
Best version I've heard yet!
As usual....perfection.
That was awesome, brought back a lot of memories, thankyou
What greai a sound! And what musicality and quality!
Brought tears to my eyes! ❤Beautiful. Thank you both!
Best version of the last 93 years. 😉
I love this arrangement, and it is sung so beautifully. :-)
Nicely done! I wanted to tip toe in the tulips 😊
Great rendition y’all are one of my most favorites on RUclips if not my favorite I like the Jean jacket look and Toni the hat suits you very well !!!!
What wonderful young ladies you are…such talent. Thank you for the joy you bring.
So wonderful harmony~
Officially my favorite version of this song now. Thanks so much, you two!
Wow! I did enjoy that!! Honestly I was reluctant to click on a Tin Tim cover but Reina and Toni made it awesome. Thanks for the wonderful surprise.
Great arrangement!
...This is one song I didn't care if I ever heard again in my lifetime again...but in 3:14 seconds you totally blew my mind and changed it. Fabulous performance !
AHH. Lovely how these two artists who play together retain and complement their individual styles ,vocally and with their guitar styles. More taste and musical precision. Thanks . Lovely tune ,used to sing it while gardening.
You can never buy taste.....Rock on...and all on one microphone for a lovely mix.
That was a lot of fun. The harmonies were fantastic.
What a lovely arrangement. 🎸🎶 Thanks!
I had never really listened to the lyrics before (not really a Tiny Tim fan). Yeah, low-key creepy. ROTFL Thanks for the background, excellent music and even better singing!
Excellent! You ladies sound amazing!
Happy Sunday back atcha! Having grown up with Tiny Tim's version I didn't realize I could enjoy this song. Come back to Omaha!!!
Terrific! I remember Tiny Tim, different, but always a fun song!😀
As Rachelle's voice matures with time it makes this mature person so very happy.
Wonderful rendition… Angelic Harmonies… Real tight guitar playing too. Cheers Ladies 🥃
I thought this was amazing. I’ve never enjoyed anything you guys have done more. Great job!!
Fun Fact: Tiny Tim's wedding to Miss Vicki on the Tonight Show on December 17, 1969, shattered all previous records for highest Nielsen ratings for a talk show, with over 45.5 million people tuning in (85% of all households who were watching TV at that hour).
I first knew this song through Frank Muir singing it on BBC Radio Two in one of their lunchtime comedy slots. It's nice to know what the lyrics are _supposed_ to be, fifty years on.
That was absolutely awesome, and I don't throw "absolutely awesome" around that often. Reina, your voice was perfect for this song. Toni, I loved your harmony vocals and as always your guitar playing. Nicely done. Such a treat. P.S. - I really like that little microphone.
Sweet and lovely!
sounded beautiful . Great job Ladies.
Great job ! Brings back memories when I used to run through 1920s & 1930s tunes on piano for my late grandmother. Would be great to hear you try a few from this era adding banjo, washboard , upright bass etc. although even with just guitar and your fantastic vocal sounds awesome !
I hadn’t thought of Tiny Tim for a long time. A sweet guy who helped the world think about how we treat and accept one another. Great version. Thank you.
What a lovely rendition of a sweet little tune. Yours will finally supersede Tiny Tim’s version in my memory, and for this I am eternally grateful! Seriously, your voices ring out so beautifully here - I have a new “favorite” Reina Del Cid post (so many!)
Love love love this! Thank you for this delightful version.
wow! Fabulous! A gift. Just the definitive rendition. Thank you.
Looks like Canon City, CO. You two are so adorable.
Always good to hear you. This is one do my favorite renditions of this song I’ve ever heard. Love it and you guys 🥰
Great song and rendition.
WOW. Made me cry. I didn't understand this song until now and reading the words. Such a beautiful song. Thank you so much. Much better with real guitars.
This goes in my category of 'International Song Rescue' , songs I was sure I never wanted to hear again but which are transformed by a great version. Two more on the list are 'If I Were A Carpenter' in the Bert Jansch version and 'Danny Boy' in the Eva Cassidy version. Oh yeah, 'Mama Mia' in the Josh and Carson version, too...
'Whoops, I did it Again', in the Richard Thompson version...
Man you girls will do anything at all if you do a song like that! That's an oldie.
Bravo! I was skeptical, I have to say, but you guys elevate this tune to a new level.
Thanks!
I was kinda hoping y'all'd sing it like Tiny Tim. Great as always, keep up this good work.
