The Sound of Silence was originally released as "The Sounds of Silence" in 1964 by Simon and Garfunkel, and Toni and I have been planning to do this one for literally years now. I'm glad I finally got to realize my dream of becoming Art Garfunkel, at least for a moment. Also, I had never heard Disturbed's version of this song until looking it up in preparation for this video, and astoundingly, it seems more people know that version than the original! They're both worth a listen. :)

Happy Sunday morning, all! I hope you enjoy our cover of this Simon and Garfunkel classic, The Sound of Silence. And thanks again to our friends at Kyser Capos for sending us those beautiful rosewood capos to use on this song! The one I'm using in the video is actually specially designed for classical guitar, so it's a little wider to cover the larger neck, which is awesome. A request? John Denver River of Love ❤❤❤
i think you urgently need cheerful husband. i am😋💦🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Art's roommate in college had a nickname "Darkness" because he was legally blind and the words to this song shows Art's interpretation of the world around him. Great job ladies! (missed you too!)
Benavides John: Hi Reina and Toni with an I. Loved your performance this week!!
This is perfect. The harmonies are spot on. It's a song that really suits both of your voices and I love it. Thank you.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written in the last 100 years.
Paul Simon rocks
Beautiful!! Your harmonies are amazing.
Without a doubt. And the way these two play and sing it is something other worldly.
When I was in elementary school, I think it was grade 4 or 5, our teacher made us learn this song. It was many years before I understood it, but my point is that it's been with me for the past 53 years. In that time there have been a handful of covers that I found worthy of the original. Yours is one of them.
Nothing against Disturbed, but harmonizing like Paul and Art just took me back to listening to this 50 years ago. The voices of angels....
As a man who grew up listening to the original, I can say this comes very close to it… Great job ladies…
I have watched you every Sunday for years with my coffee in hand. But today I would especially like to thank you for a wonderful 66th birthday present. This performance. 👍👍👀🎸🙏
Happy birthday, Dave! 🎉
Toni harmonizes with Reina! Is there anything Toni can’t do! I could listen to them all day!
No.
There is NOTHING Toni can't do.
A stone cold pro.
And I just got the cinco de mayo kyser capo and it really works great. It was 25% off at the kyser store, and with the extra 10% a no brainer. Thank you!
❤😢
Fully agree, they are out of this world.
@@dealzrightToni is doing all the clever stuff. Reina is just playing C, G, and D chords.
Every time I want to hear sounds of silence I come to this video, it never gets old
Thousands people were waiting for this by you silently: the day came - and the rendition has been even greater than expected.
Very nicely done ladies . I'm a 76 year old man with good memories from the era . Thanks !
So good to hear young folks playing the music of my youth, and performing well, without the need for all the flash.
When I was in graduate school, I played a cassette tape of Simon and Garfunkel singing this song until it was little more than shreds. Your rendition is, if anything, even tighter than the original. A masterful tribute to an iconic song. Thank you so much!
I’ve been playing : singing this song for twenty years but have never even come close to this video! Y’all made my day!!! Ottawa, Canada
Wow! Beautiful harmony. Toni's muted guitar - just on the edge of silence at just the right times is amazing. Their covers are always more enjoyable than the originals in my mind.
I love the covers too. When the young ones do the old songs so themselves but so respectful and so appreciative of the originals, it's almost like we actually do have a culture.
Yes I never liked the original. Reina and Toni sound way better!
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 I love the original. But I agree with your second sentence :)
The connection between Reina and Toni sends chills through me.
I'm 73 and this so reminds of my youth when life seemed so carefree as I remember it now but I guess it wasn't.I'm pretty sure it was in the backing of one of my favourite movies then too-The Graduate ,when I fell in love with Katherine Ross.
Simon and Garfunkel would be so happy with your beautiful performance ladies.
Im 73 also, It reminds me of my youth, not so carefree. I was slouging around rice paddies and the jungle with my rifle, trying to stay in one piece!
Hearing this song as a kid in the 60s a million times I never even noticed it. Now as an old guy I am getting quite emotional listening to you all put your heart and soul into this song. Thankyou
I, too, am a long time listener but never comment. This, however, was stunning. I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to this song in my lifetime, but I can’t remember one that moved me as much as listening to you talented young women. I must have clicked “replay” a half a dozen times.
I am in the 70's .. by watching you two young ladies bringing my youth back 50 years , great job!
Speechless... Dicovered these girls yesterday and now I can't seem to stop watching and listening!
Much love!
You take me back to my 5 year old self, watching my father in his easy chair, pointing out to me the hauntingly beautiful harmonic vocal runs (yes he was a music nerd). I enjoy the other covers of this song, but you two capturing the tight vocals that made S&G so amazing for their time is a treat. ❤ I listen most Sundays but don’t always comment. I just had to today. Thank you.
....but now deservingly this easy chair!
.....but the rocking stopped by wheels of dispair!
The dynamic duo do it again. Brilliant 🎶🎸🎶😀
I have never heard so much beauty in one place. A harmonious blend of melodic voices.
You two amazing talented young women just put the biggest smile on this old Viet Nam Vets face and in my heart.....thank you so much---never stop!!😇🥰😎🙏
I think it's becoming a common occurrence for me to say, "I think this is my favorite thing y'all have done." This is one of my all-time favorites and you 2 did not disappoint at all. I'm going to put this easily in my top 5 covers of this song with ease. That was awesome!!! Thank you!
Very moving and soul stirring. I’m grateful that I found your channel, and the other musicians you have performed with on RUclips.
Broke the sound of bedtime silence to visit my two fav ladies for their beautiful version of a Simon/Garfuncle classic.
@captain
Garfunkel
😂
Uncles Simon and Garfunkel will be proud of the guitar work and harmony.
I remember when this song was released by Simon and Garfunkel. You ladies just gave me chills with your rendition.❤
A dystopian nightmare, reminiscent of the last verse of American Pie. “In the streets, the children screamed, the lovers cried and the poets dreamed, but not a word was spoken, the church bells all were broken”.
You do Paul Simon so well.
Wow. I never noticed how much that last line resonates with this song-almost as if they are both referencing the same moment in time. Thanks for this comment!
"church bells"?? I thought it was "battle droids"!
Hey, it's Sunday morning and my resistance is way down. I tried, I tried. And I'm of that much older generation, too.
@@blindleader42 I think that's from 'The Sounds of Star Wars'. . .
@@TheRamsberg No, no. It's from Imperial Pie, or maybe Phantom PIe. I'm sure of it's one of those.
@@blindleader42 I was joking about "church bells" being "battle droids", and the latter of which being in the 'Star Wars' movies.
Such a great interpretation of a classic with some nice subtle additions. It’s mind boggling that Paul Simon wrote these lyrics at only 21 years of age. One of the greatest song writers of all time.
I am totally flabbergasted. Incredible. Pure joy and pleasure. So many thanks. And I am sure the birds do love you and your music as well.
Man but really you had to use the word flabbergasted
Maybe you try to watch also the version of the voice teen's duet in the voice PH. Queenie vs Patricia the sound of silence.
Thank you Reina and Toni, beautiful music on one of my favourite tunes.
I am a happily married old great grandpa so in the context understand I love you girls and hope you keep making beautiful music together and keep classic and classy pieces like this tune alive. Love your arrangement and harmonies and finger picking. This song has difficult phrasing but you nailed it. Excellent cover.
How beautiful, c est tellement joli et agréable de vous écoutez, thank you 😊
Oh wow! This is probably the best I have heard this song sung ever. You two ladies are amazing!
Terrific cover. Reina’s voice never sounded better. Great second voice and playing by Toni!
A worthy cover of a beautiful song. Thanks for playing it for us.
One of the BEST renditions of this song I've ever heard. Ya'll are truly amazing!!
Reina and Toni creating perpetual happiness in this old timers heart! A beautiful warm musical hug💕💕💕
Beautiful music by beautiful ladies on a beautiful morning here in Kentucky! Can’t ask for much more than that. Thank you!
Reina's voice is unique. Her voice is neither thin nor very husky, but it's very comfortable and soft. Her singing style is also light and warm. I want to listen to it no matter how much I listen to it. Tony's guitar and harmony are also great. It's a fantastic combination
Reina and Toni beautiful song
This song is a masterpiece and you two honor that with this powerful, moving cover. Absolutely beautiful vocals and guitars.
Literally said “wow” out loud after the second word. Vocals are perfect on this.
Your voices and guitars compliment each other so well, great job.
Thank you.
What a Sound of Silence! Beautiful! 🥰
A fantastic song, beautifully sung and played in full harmony. This melody can never be forgotten and stays in the ears forever.
This was perfect. Anything more wouldn't have been as good. Anything less wouldn't have been as good. Love it.
never heard this my favorite song singing so beautifully with lovely ladies. this was my favorite early years when i was young boy playing guitar 6 years old
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, Reina and Toni! This classic deserves a place in your concert performances. 👍👍
Outstanding! Especially the vocals. A very nice treat for a Sunday morning. Thank you.
An iconic, haunting and timeless tune in its original form but this rendition....well..it was truly breathtaking. I'm not surprised though. These particular musicians are exemplary and have never,in my recollection, played a bad cover. As usual, they knocked this song out of the park. Well done girls👏👏👏👏👏👏
Paul Simon's incredible "lower" harmony line, and Toni nailed it. While picking, too. Another one like this is "If I Fell" by the Beatles.
A record truly worthy of praise. It does not fall only on deaf ears. Thanks, as always, for sharing.
Incredible! Toni’s guitar … exquisite! And your harmonies are so perfect. Best cover of this song I’ve ever heard.
Precious cover. Love the playing, singing, the whole thing.
I am speechless, such a beautiful version. You are on top of the mountain, in my eyes.
Finally, my favourite song and, as always, an amazing performance that does the song justice - thank you and have a great Sunday!
Brillant as usual ❤
You two girls gave this classic song, and especially its lyrics, all the respect it deserves. Many thanks for always showing the lyrics on your videos. Extra care much appreciated. Love you two.
Their harmony was absolutely flawless
Thank you so much for this fine rendition of a classic song. You did it full justice.
Few things sound as nice as two part harmonies done by musicians that understand each other blind. You two have definitly reached this stage. Couldn't take my eyes off Toni's right hand.
Bravo les filles, respect pour vôtre immense talent . Du
Sud-ouest de la France. ❤
Interprétation formidable très juste et en tout respect pour Simon and Garfunkul
What an happy Sunday morning ! I love when you cover a classic. Great performance.
Perfect song for your combined vocal and guitar skills and chemistry. One of the nicer covers you’ve ever done.
Just discovered Riena and Toni. I first heard this on Simon and Garfunkel's album in 1964 and was amazed at the lyrics a 21 year old wrote. I might add those same lyrics are even more profound today in our World some 59 years later. Your take on the song is much like theirs. Sounding sweetly harmonic underlying the disturbing message in a world gone mad. Beautiful!
Beautiful
I enjoyed your sound of silence .. Cheers !
Happy Sunday morning❤
I thoroughly enjoyed your cover of this S&G tune. I listen to it 3 times to take in all the intricacies of the guitar and harmonies...so good. Birds liked it too.
Wow! Fantastic arrangement! Beautiful harmonies! Guitar licks that are perfect! What a way to start Sunday!
Can we appreciate Toni’s graceful, elegant finger picking….making it their own with funky, bluesy flourishes. I believe she is Clapton’s long lost daughter (or granddaughter) with those natural strokes. She does not need to look down. Like Slowhand.
Wou Mädels...Super..sehr nice und wunderbar. Spitze....!
A wonderful rendition of a passionate and heart felt song by one of the best song writer/artists in history. Well done ladies! 👍
Magnifica versión. Enhorabuena a las dos. Saludos desde España, la patria del Cid.
Stunning harmony, ladies👍
just spent my day off listening to you and your friends, cool music. cool songs and cool musicians/singers. my favourite would have to be 'This one's gonna hurt' followed closely by your short vid, not sure what it's called but started with 'Hello are you scrolling alone in your room'. great day off after all, thankyou and hope you are keeping well.
❤ Preciosa versión. Gracias. Cuántos recuerdos de los 60.
A classic version of a classic, thank you
Just love this rendition, most notably the harmony. 😍
Wow... such a beautiful voice and harmony... so cool♡♡♡♡♡♡♡❤❤❤
Vocês são simplesmente o máximo quando cantam. Obrigado.
Oof, everytime I think "Nah, this song is so worn out, I don't really want to hear another cover" you blow me away anyway, with a version I from now on like best. You two are incredible!
My two favorite girls singing one of my most favorite songs. Love it.
Muito lindo, parabéns adorei.
👍
Amazing arrangement! It sounded so much like the original but noticeably and pleasantly different at the same time.
Wow! So cool! For many years now I sang this song with a soulmate of mine. Toni’s harmonies, below the lead voice of Reina adds a very special kind of drive to this song. Very special! Thank you for the memories.
Your harmonies are SO DAMN GOOD! awesome work!
I'm 70 years old and remember this song like yesterday. You have filled my cup till it runneth over. I am joy filled!! thank you both.
I’ve been following the two of you for a few years now, and that was one of the best covers I’ve ever heard you do.
Preciosa versión. Gracias desde España 🤗
Excellent! Thanks.
This gave me chills. One of your best performances ever.
Spreading your talent to friends here in London. Great music.....
