What is PECHUGA? Learn about this mezcal style with craziest and tastiest flavors including meats, fruits and spices! Plus, we'll review some of my favorite bottles.
wow... i got here searching a bwttwr way to cultivate my own agaves, and i found your videos, it is really amazing that someone who is not a maestro mezcalero know so much about mezcal, congratulations, i am a producer in puebla, if you come back to mexico some time, i will be happy to invite you a mezcal and receive your opinion
Hey there!!! So glad to hear from you and thank you for your compliments. It means a lot to me. Puebla is a state I'd love to visit and I do love the mezcales from there!!! Let's stay in touch and hopefully some day we can meet in person and drink some mezcal together! Salud!!!
Hey buddy!! I took a 6 month life and fitness break. But I'm firing up the mezcal content machine as we speak. I'm very appreciative you checked in and I'm very happy to be nearly back. Talk to you soon, my friend! 🙏
I tried the salvadores Buffalo pechuga and the nose Was totally amazing with so many different notes I was blown away. Glad to see you did another video.
Yeah, that Buffalo pechuga is pretty special. I'm excited about the new one Salvadores has coming out, an elote! It'll be interesting to compare that to the classic Vago Elote. Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
Amazing content as always Zack! Those lobster and Buffalo pechugas sound amazing! Gotta try them too! From a Pechuga enthusiast thanks for shining a light to this kind of mezcal that not a lot of people are familiar with! SALUD
Thanks amigo!! Glad you enjoyed it. Pechugas are pretty special, for sure. I'm always trying to get the mezcal word out there and shed some light on it. It can be a complicated spirit. Talk to you soon!!!
Thanks Alex! I'm glad you enjoyed it. La Luna and Vago are great frickin' brands... you're doing well. Hahaha. Thanks for tuning in, amigo. Really appreciate it.
Hey! Thanks for checking the video out, one huge mezcal fan to another. I haven't tried the Bozal Pechuga, the Guerrero one w/ chicken but I'd really like to. Is that the one you've tried or are referring to? I've tried the Bozal Borrego (lamb) that was really nice and I have a bottle of the Bozal Iberico (ham/pork). The Iberico was OK but I found it to be over-spiced where much of the other flavors were drowned out. I think it'd be significantly better if that component was dialed back a tad. It's a got a neat ensamble of maguey too, so a lot of potential there. But general feedback on that one is quite positive though, it just didn't quite land for me. That's mezcal though, some much subjectivity and personal preference - which makes it so interesting. Hahaha.
I was referring to the Guerrero one, should have clarified! I’ve had the borrego and was hooked immediately - I’ll have to try and find the Iberico ham version and give it a whirl… appreciate the response, dude! Keep up the awesome work
Very cool Zack! i’m just getting familiar the offering of pechuga’s. sampled a couple poultry ones years ago however was sidetracked by a tequila stint. Look forward to tasting and learning more. thanks for sharing this episode. feeling fortunate to have been able to pick up a La Luna Paradas x Patria and sample their Ponche Navideño. mmmm. Also that is one hell of a party! would love to interview people about their next morning 😂. looks like a good time. Be well and Happy New Year!
Hey! Tequila is a fair and reputable sidetrack, my friend, haha. That party was pretty fun and about 8 of us had to get out of bed by 8am to head to northern Michoacan to see their other vinata. Good thing for strong cafe and AM tacos - life savers.
@@ZackKlamn yeah, mang! Hopefully getting some Mezcals in soon from Durango, Guerrero etc. I swear, the more Mezcal i try, the more i realize how little I’ve tried 😂
Wow Zack! How very interesting! Never heard of such a thing, so "live and learn." I'been drinkin' whiskey and cognac all my life, but some years ago I decided to broaden my horizons and began to explore rum and tequila but after having got stuck on your reviews of mezcal ,i dare say i've begun a virtual fan of it cuz it's something new to me. But unfortunately Russia is a cold country so agava ain't growing here))) So there ain't a great variety of choices(((
Yeah, buddy! Pechuga mezcal can be next level interesting. I started with rum, got into tequila and then landed on mezcal. I still enjoy the others, but I obviously have a huge passion for mezcal. I can't wait until you're able to broaden your horizons in the future when your borders open up. Nothing lasts forever and hopefully this all starts to subside. I want this "virtual fan" of mezcal to be fully upgraded to "mezcal aficionado". There's an incredible journey ahead.
Another great video Zack. I had Vago Elote by the late Aquilino Garcia Lopez. His story is inspiring. Have you seen "Agave: The Spirit of a Nation"? It's a very good movie.
I'm not sure about how often those happen, it was not a typical Monday evening that's for sure, hahaha. But I was there the year before as well, for a tour of their vinata which was incredibly rewarding. Are you in Michoacan or do you go there often? Thanks for checking out the video, I very much appreciate it!
@@bazan0448 Amazing!! Do you always bring back some great Michoacan mezcales when you go? I love hitting up the vinatas but also there are some quality mezcalarias in Morelia. And one in Pazcuaro that was really nice.

Love it, and I recognized my pal Salvador Chavez from La Luna there
Chava is a beauty! Great dude.
Rockin' the Blue Jays shirt! Nice... Unfortunately for me in PA, the Pechuga is all special order at the State Stores.
No doubt, hopefully they make wild card this year. Even more so... hopefully you're able to get a nice pechuga soon too.
Zack! We need more mezcal content! It has been 5 months and I’m getting withdrawal shakes!

Hey there Scott! Gracias, amigo. I'm glad you are enjoying the content, it's much appreciated.
I plan on going to La Luna next year on a trip to Morelia.
Totally do!!! They are so accommodating and every time I've gone they have a huge selection of batches to try. I think you'll love it!!!
Osito: Para el proximo festejo de Dia de los Muertos. That would be the best time!
Awesome video as always Zack. I definitely need to try the rabbit & iguana blend 😮. Also, sign me up for Pechuga-fest 2023! Leeeeets liiiight!

Absolutely, I always bring stuff that most of my friends never heard about before. What mezcalerias do you recommend in Patzcuaro?

Is in michoacan?
Yeah, that was at La Luna. It's abuout 45 min from Morelia. Great people there!!
