  • Hi friends,
    In this video I’m continuing sharing my daily live in Novosibirsk, Russia. 🇷🇺 As an introvert and a single mom of 2 sons on my journey of healing from anxiety. Im sharing my slow daily routine. Cooking, grocery shopping etc.
    In this episode I was visiting my old “new” Soviet apartment that we about to move in, to check on a progress of renovation. So I’m taking you with me. And then I was spending my days quite ordinary doing my usual things - went to the market, was cooking a little, walking and spending time with my sons.
    Thank you for watching 🤍

    My suggestion: give the boys the bigger room at the back, with an option to divide it in the future if needed. Put a partition wall or sliding door where youre thinking of putting the boys’ bunk beds, and use that as your cozy sleeping place. Use the middle room as a living room. That way, everyone has privacy, it’s easy to hide away clutter from guests by closing the boys’ door and your sleeping area, and you have a wonderful living room where everyone can hang out together.

      she really need to get a few dividers / view blockers. There are so many options, a few plants, a big cabinet, a movable wall, etc. Take the first room and put there something between that big space and the main entrance door.

    As a kid growing up in a walk-through room, I always felt sort of like a visitor, never had my own space or privacy, any down time was always disturbed which caused anxiety down the line. Some will laugh it off as exaggeration but it’s a fact. The wall should have been moved not taken down. It would have been fine to make it a little hallway with closet space and the boys would still have a bright room 🤷‍♀️

      Our room was walk through also, and I felt the same. But our dad built us a private room when we turned 11. He says Kids that Age Need privacy. He built my sisters each a room in the old barn next to the house. I Just moved myself to a room in another Building of the property as a teenager. The living house itself was and is really small, but the barn was bigger, even if in bad condition.

      or at least put a wall in that big first boys' room. It would be similar to the one that was there, just better built, with glass so light can come in and at a position she likes. a wall with like frosted glass that you can't see through, which you often see in bathrooms. You can simply cover normal glass with a film. Then everyone would have privacy.

      I was thinking that too, but it might not make sense if she's planning on making content creating her full time job, cause if she's going to be filming and needs quiet, uninterrupted time the kids will have to pass through that room to be able to go to the kitchen or bathroom, same for if she's planning on being in a relationship at some point, it just wouldn't make sense for the kids to have to pass through that room every time they need something. I don't know why she removed the wall, it didn't look good but she could have re-made it, and fixed the layout of the apartment a bit, since its already pretty much being re-built.

    • @bta8355
      @bta8355 День назад +3

      yee, she really should not have destroyed that wall in that huge room. It could have been a nice entrance and you could have inserted a better wall with windows that are not see-through and let light in. It would have solved so many issues, that apartment is just not big enough now. Bad enough that those boys need to share a room.

    ...from reading the comments here, I agree that another good option would be to give the boys the back room just as a bedroom, and use the bigger room as a living room, with the T.V., dresser, sofa. Could u fit your bed in the small space of that room? If not the sofa could be a sofa bed or day bed. You may even be able to fit a chair in there with a sofa or loveseat. Lots of options. Years ago we had a Latvian hockey player living with us, and we went to visit him twice in Riga. His parent's apt was very similar in size to yours. His parents used a pull out sofa in the living room and he had the small bedroom. It was very tiny and only held a small sofa bed in there. They also have a summer house, near the water/Balkan sea and we went there too!!!!!

  • @SandraSutherland-ln3np
    @SandraSutherland-ln3np День назад +12

    You asked for ideas for the bedroom for your boys. Think outside the box, raise both beds up at least 3 feet. The space under the beds is the wardrobe. If hanging areas or shelving is needed put it on the end of the beds, like a foot board with the doors on the outside. That should give each boy a tall storage unit and still have room for a desk or table for homework, and not block any of the natural light. Also saves a lot of space too. Good luck, you are doing a fantastic thing with your vlog channel. I have enjoyed seeing Russia from your perspective.

  • @PinarEge-f3v
    @PinarEge-f3v День назад +25

    I would have done something different for the space/room you had in mind for the boys. I had done the living room there. Because otherwise you or the people who come to visit will always go through the room of the boys. For example, if they have to do homework from school because they will always be disturbed by you having to walk through the bedroom. Otherwise there is no privacy for you or the boys. And eventually they will grow bigger and want privacy, which is completely normal.

    I know everyone is also suggesting the middle room for you, but I do feel like that alcove would make a great office space and then you could have a day bed. Then most of the boys things/toys could also be in that back room and it would be a better living space during the day. You could even use a bureau as a tv stand- that's what I did in a very small apartment for several years!

    I hope some one takes that poor dog in. Here on our farm, we end up with all manner of strays. Mostly cats. I don't turn them away, unfortunately there are all manner of predator animals around, and I look after the rescues. Some times I find them a new home, but often they become part of the family here. I don't regret it, but it gets costly for vets and feed, but then the companionship more than makes up for it. People in town abandon their unwanted pets out here in the countryside, in front of the farm. I guess they do figure to give them that little chance of survival. Sad. An old timer, friend, told me years back, you can tell the nature of a man by how they treat the small animals, pets. And it always rings true!

    the renovation is going super well! I've had my fair share of renovations before and I can tell that it will be done soon now and it will look fabulous!
    With the boy's room: I would put an open shelf (one example is kallax from ikea, but there are many options) that lets light through to the place where you took out the wall. it can act as a space divider, still letting light through and you can even have some cool lighting fixture involved, or place beautiful plants there. I would put bunk beds on the other side of this shelving unit (leaving space between the shelving unit), parallel to the wall on the bigger half of the room (on the left side if we are standing towards the windows). This way there is a sleep zone , even though there is no separating wall. I would put wardrobe to the smaller nook on the left side (walking from the entrance) if there is enough space I would also place a full body mirror there or a foldable table to the side (that is fixed to the wall and can be closed when not used) - the boys could use it for studying. In space that is not occupied with bunk beds in the bigger side of the room, I would put a nice carpet, a couch and a bookshelf, creating a relaxing zone.
    if you rather decide to put beds in the little nook, I would install curtains in some way, so they can choose to "close" their space when sleeping:)
    congrats on the beautiful progress, cannot wait to see the end result! lots of love:)

    As I see apartment now you have only kitchen and two bedrooms, no living space to have company and visit. I liked the idea of bunk beds in the smaller niche and making the bigger part of room with sofa (or sofa bed for mom or visitor) along one wall and have cabinet on other wall with tv in middle and two big closets on either side, one for the boys clothes and other cabinet for their toys, games and other storage. ( don’t know if you have IKEA store there but you can look them up and get storage room ideas on internet). Later as they grow, you could always switch bedrooms and divide the room now yours into two rooms for growing boys. You could have your daybed in niche, or sofa bed in bigger part of room and put your work desk in niche with shutter type doors you could close off when you don’t want people to see.

    In the boys room the small space should be a closet, the bunk beds could go on one of the bigger walls instead of a couch.

    Ohhh I’ve been excited for this update!! I just know your new place will look great! I voted for the bathroom sink, now I’m so curious to know which one you decided to choose! Vintage style will look good, so I’m sure whichever one you’ve chosen will be fantastic. ❤ Can’t wait to see everything again when it’s all complete. 😊
    With the boys room, my idea would be to use the back wall for the wardrobe. Then, bunk beds on one wall and desks on the other side. Or you could put two loft beds (bed up high with desk space underneath) opposite each other, one on each wall. Then maybe a small couch or reading chair under the window.

    I'm so excited for you to move into your new apartment, Nastya! But I have to admit, I will miss seeing your grandma's kitchen: I have gotten used to seeing it - it's so nice & cozy, I really do love it.

    It's looking nicer with all the old stuff removed. My only suggestions: 1) with all the wood trim and flooring out, take a moment to place plenty of boric acid or similar insect killer in all of the open cracks. Especially boric acid I think will help control the roaches after it is all closed up again. 2) please put the old Soviet radio back. 🙂

    I think I would put a walk in closet where you said you may put bunk beds.....in a small space storage is so important to put all the mess away out of sight!

    I am excited to see how the renovation works out. I hope you and the boys enjoy it. Personally, I would give your teenage son his own space but you can always alter things if required. Good luck.🌷

    I do like the bunkbed idea. Its hard to decide without actually being there. ❤
    How old is the building? It appears to be so quiet. It sounds like you can't hear outside noise. That's nice if so. It will be exciting for you when it's moving in time! You're doing great with your kids. I pray for all, especially that you won't have any health issues. ❤ It's very cold where I live as well. Northern USA. Be well, my friend. Oh, I'm a grandma, 68 years old. My picture was when I was much younger 😊.

    Another solution give the boys your room . Build a new partition wall in the middle room nearer to the window ( use this as your bedroom ) to fit a small double bed and drawers . Comfortable chair. Choose a doors with full frosted glass to pull light through to that hall area See can you fit a table bench with a back chairs for family gathering Leave no door on kitchen as window is visible and will give impression of light in the new hall/ dining/sitting space . The bench with back “ upholstered would be nice” can sit into that alcove the table and a couple of chairs can push under table . Small tv can go on or in front of the new partition wall of your bedroom . Cleaver lighting will make the difference ask that good electrician advice about strip lighting . It’s hard to guess your space . I do think the boys will need privacy especially as they get older . Save you having to redo in future . You can always have curtain in front of bedroom glass doors to block internal light when sleeping . During the day leave open .. best of luck 😊

    I would put the bunk beds in the enclosed space, you could also use a curtain there to give them privacy. For wardrobe, use dressers for their clothing. Or you could use the closet by the door for their clothing as well. If you use dressers, you could place their TV above and use the tops for decor. Or get a nice wardrobe that's enclosed and put them each on the side of the window. Then a couch and TV across.

    Hello Nastya😊. Your new nest is going to look lovely! Much better with that wall down. The boys will be so happy with their new room. They are real cuties. I'd put a wardrobe in that new space, they'll need one. TV hanged up and storage for their toys... Perhaps you might buy 'couch style' single beds and shelves for their books, deco etc. Moving in pretty soon🎉, congrats, you're almost there. That old car legendary blue colour, so vintage😊. Autumn is my favourite season. Have a nice sunny Sunday😊
