      I just have a hard time comprehending how you guys get out of bed on the winter and take a bus or train to work??? What time you get up there and how long is a usual walk, train , bus etc to get to work, what time do most people work till and go to lunch and home? In California no snow, just rain, traffic ever. Day 5-6am to 4-6pm and drive to work and home. Don Los Angeles California

    (father of two boys writing) 10:30 - keep that wall by any means! Space isn't all that counts. Your kids will need some privacy! If not now it will be in some years. I'm sure they both love their mum but they'll not be keen to have her walk through their room at any occasion. And you will never disturb their sleep when you get yourself a cup of tea late at night.

    You should definitely keep the little "awkward" area instead of tearing down the wall. You could make it a little office area, add wardrobes/cabinets for storage or even put your fridge in there since your kitchen is pretty small.

    One of my absolute favorite things to do lately is to see how other women around the world live. I am from a 400 year old Swedish small town, and I regularly watch women in the mountains of Afghanistan, young office workers in Tokyo Japan, girls from Lagos Nigeria, a woman on Svalbard near the arctic circle...it's so beyond fascinating to me and fosters a sense of unity and solidarity because as humans we really are all the same deep down.

  • @jensmith5994
    @jensmith5994 27 дней назад +2

    Not sure if this is structurally possible but I would a) keep that wall there and b) move the wall for that back bedroom back, to make it smaller. Then you'd have a larger open area in the middle for a living room, while still having 2 private bedrooms.

  • @amandamoore8516
    @amandamoore8516 Месяц назад +9

    If you take down the hallway wall, then I’d make the room at the back the kids room instead of your room. Then the big open space you are left with could be living room by day and your bedroom by night with a quality fold out bed. Kids would be snug at back and you have whole apartment to yourself in evening without disturbing them.

    Настя, добрый день :) Многие писали здесь в комментариях, и я тоже их поддержу - думаю, не стоит сносить стену, лучше оставить комнату для детей. Они очень быстро растут и хотят своего личного пространства. К тому же, так будет тише и дети будут слышать меньше шума с кухни, ванны. Сон не будет потревожен. А странное пространство в коридоре можно использовать под хранение - например, сделать большую гардеробную / шкаф-купе во всю стену. Если хотите больше места в коридоре - возможно, стоит рассмотреть вариант со сносом стены слева от входной двери (только сперва узнать, не является ли она несущей и можно ли её сносить и делать перепланировку).
    Спасибо за ваши видео, смотрю с удовольствием!❤
    Удачи вам с ремонтом!

  • @DawnieRotten
    @DawnieRotten Месяц назад +5

    I would keep the kids room with the walls (just put up better/new ones), and that 'odd' space in the hall, turn that into a closet/storage space with a door (bi-fold doors). Also keep that little storage closet, to the right of the toilet room, and put in shelving all on the back wall......turn that into a pantry to store food in.....because your kitchen is so small. With such a small apartment those 2 storage spaces (in the hallway and new pantry)......you will NEED that storage space! The hallway closet......install a bar to hang clothes on hangers, maybe some shelves on the side walls and a 'bench' towards the bottom back wall to store shoes/boots on/under the 'bench'. Once you start putting furniture in a small apartment......it'll get even SMALLER. Anything that can be stored in the hallway closet.....will give you more space in the rooms.

    The little storage next to the front door: I would keep a door in it. On medium level a rack for coats, ground level for shoes/houseslippers and as much shelving as possible for seasonal coats/storage of odd things (gift wrapping, Christmas deco and such). You could even utilize the inside side of the door. I would try to make a decent boysroom out of the room you wanted as a living room/mum’s bedroom by downsizing that room and make a living room/mum’s bedroom out of the space that’s now the odd corner (perfect for build in wardrobe without looking like a wardrobe, you could utilize the full height so even store the bed linens in there) and intended boysroom. The windows are big enough for such change. And looking forward, the boys won’t be disturbed if you want to look television or have a guest over that needs to go through their room to enter/exit. You could even think about knocking down the wall to the kitchen, making a semi open kitchen. Then you wouldn’t need the door to the kitchen (where it is now) so you’d have two walls for things like a washing machine, oven, fridge, etc. A little dinerset with a bench (storage!) a table and two (or one) chair(s). A nice sofa that turns into a bed and you’d still have room for a cabinet, tv cabinet and a coffeetable. Windows on the balcony and you’d have a place to dry clothes and extra storage.

    The apartment has good bones for redesigning and renovating. I would rethink the idea of having your sons' room as a walk-through space. I doubt that will work out well for any of you. If you can afford to invest in an architect to redesign the space, that will greatly increase the value and your enjoyment of the apartment, even if he/she only redesigns the space but leaves you to carry out the renovation. Good luck!

    Hi Nastya: Interestingly I think this is one of your best videos because of the insights and perspectives it provides about Russian life in a big city in today’s Russia. I live in the open spaces of the high desert of the western USA and our lives could not be more different but I am fascinated with your story in part I think because of these differences.
    A suggestion(and you may already be sensitive to this): involve your sons especially your oldest in planning the apartment spaces.

      Yes! I think she may be involving them but that us very important. Boys definitely need to feel like they are contributing, even just in ideas. It helps them feel they have some input, control, and trust. Having raisedv3 boys, I really feel you need to keep that wall up for privacy for them. Bunk beds have all types of options now for small spaces. Although the apartment is not a tiny house, you could get some great ideas for your boys personal areas. I feel it us very important for them to have tgat door to close- all people want a sense of privacy.

    How fun!! You should take us along as you do improvements. :) I have a question, If that is the boys room, wouldn't they want walls for privacy?

    I think once you renovate it will be so lovely. I’m very happy for you and your sons that you will eventually have a place of your own. I also enjoyed all the beautiful sites you shared with us. I still can’t get over how clean the cities and even subways seem in Russia. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for cities int the U.S. Great video!

    чугунную ванну можно отреставрировать- выйдет даже лучше, они больше держат тепло, чем акриловые. в скандинавских странах чугунные батареи в старых домах тоже оставляют.

    The apartment is lovely !! When it’s finished it will be transformed . 😊 Just an idea that wall that the tenants built move it towards the window of the boys bedroom in line with the Side of the kitchen door, remove the kitchen door and that small hall/ partition wall, make open plan with the bigger hall for your dining area an upholstered bench with a back can be a comfortable place to sit /eat/the kitchen . You can built new kitchen “ galley style “ with your big window free for light . What ever you do it will be as beautiful comfortable home 😊💫

    I definitely would keep the door knob latch, it is super cute and very antique looking. That small space from your entrance is almost like a Den for us here in Canada. In our condo/apartment, we have sometimes a open small room that is called a Den. You could set up a small desk or bookshelf or one make a big closet compartment where you keep your extra blankets and towels etc. However, your idea of making it a bigger room for your two boys is also nice.

    ❤ It's going to be a wonderful home for the 3 of you. I would tear down the short wall in the entry way and move your bedroom wall to make your room smaller and create a Small living room for all you to enjoy together. Then you would have a ... Living room, Kitchen, Bathroom and 2 Bedroom Apartment. Anyway i'm happy for you to have your own space. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes from the state of Virginia, U.S A

    I like the apartment and it will be lovely when the renovations are done. All the best and may renovations go smoothly and quickly so you and your sons can move in and get settled. The autumnal colours on your walk are very pretty. I too love the season when the sun is shining and the colours are out.
