- "Kakigori" (shaved ice) is the traditional Japanese antidote to the summer heat. We found an old-fashioned shaved ice shop in the Sangenjaya district of Tokyo, located two stops from Shibuya along the Denentoshi line.
They say the shaved ice heard won't give you a brain freeze no matter how fast you eat it. Their secret? Find out in episode 15 of Sweets Tales, an original documentary on Japanese wagashi sweets and the people who make them.

I recently got very interested in Japanese food. Your videos are very helpful for me and nicely introducing me to the japanese food culture. Would me perfect if you start another Chanel for savory snacks and daily and celebratory Japanese food. Thank you so much. X
Thank you for uploading this with English subtitles! I love your videos!!!!
What a wonderful traditional shop! I love these videos, it's always fascinating to see the sweets of a different nation and culture. : )

Wow this is way different from Hawaiian Style Shave Ice. Ours is super compact and really big that sometimes I can't eat all of it (even if I get the small one.)

かわいい!!!!
Where I live, there are a lot of merchands on the street with their shaved ice machine on their bicycle. I remembered, I think it was 6 or 7 years ago, I asked my grandfather if he could buy one of those for me to eat. He bought one cup and just joking with the merchand, he said: "Are you sure people won't get diarrhea??". The merchand replied with a happy smile that wasn't the case.
as long as the water used for making ice comes from uncontaminated sources and the good sanitary practices are in place during preparation of the syrup and shaved ice, you won't get sick.
おいしい!!
The last blue one, I wonder what taste is that? I love Kakigori!! Grape and mocca are my favorite. Would also love to try the banana one ;)
the blue one's name is, "blue hawaii". Its taste is like the blue sky of Hawaii....mmm something like, "soda pop"!
wow!! thanks for the info ;)
shaved ice is very popular in Hawaii too and some people assume that it originated in Hawaii, but they don't know that shaved ice was actually invented in Japan, then it was brought to Hawaii by Japanese immigrants. Similar to how the Italians made pasta popular, but pasta was actually invented by the Chinese.
I knew about noodles origin, but did not know that pasta was too. That's great!
Do they still have target
Ahh, it looks so good. * u *
Eating a cold one with the Shonens
