- Steph and Andrew watch Shaolin Soccer, a comedic sports film where martial arts and soccer combine as a former Shaolin monk assembles a team of misfits with extraordinary skills to compete in a soccer tournament and showcase the power of Shaolin kung fu.
The film was directed by and also stars Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, The Mermaid, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons), as well as Zhao Wei (Red Cliff, Painted Skin, Lost in Hong Kong), Ng Man-tat (God of Gamblers, A Chinese Odyssey, Love on a Diet), and Patrick Tse (Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, The New Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, The Mad Monk).

Remember in Kung Fu Hustle when he crushes the soccer ball and says "No more soccer"? It was because this movie came first.
He have a lot of great unknown movies because it wasn't released over here. I recommend From Beijing with Love 1994, The God of Cookery 1996, King of Comedy 1999

This movie just like Kung Fu Hustle deserve to be watched in both subs and dubs especially in English the VA's understood the assignment and play it up hardcore.
I am glad you guys enjoyed this. This is one of my favourite movie. Though it is too bad that you watched the Americanized version because the version you guys' watched has been cut down by 22 mins from the original! There is some missing context. Like the intro has missing prologue to show the relationship between the villain and Golden Leg. Some subtitles words are changed, some music has been changed to american music and the voice sound effects are fully dubbed over, very strange.
First time watching this movie!
if you guys want another stephen chow movie try to watch CJ7, it's a tear jerker tho..

The goalkeeper was played by Danny Chan. He is known to play Bruce Lee in biographical films. That's why his goalkeeper outfit looks like from Game of Death.

This was before Kung Fu hustle they kept asking for 2nd movie that's why he popped the ball and said no more soccer in Kung Fu hustle

Hong Kong cinema doesn't make movies like this anymore. The 70s, 80s, 90s were their heyday. Btw the goalie was the chief of the axe gang in King fu hustle 😂. The girl is beautiful, had a.crush on her growing up watching HK TV shows.
I don’t know why but every time I watch this movie I’m healed.
My second favorite Stephen Chow film, Kung Fu Hustle being the first, such entertaining films.
Stephen Chow's 'Journey to the West' is also an awesome hidden gem. It's like a live action anime.

The highlight of this movie is how Puma used this movie for their brand endorsement. Like even when the enemy goalie stops the ball the logo is pointed convenienly towards the viewer....or the fire kick attack by Steel Leg literally took form as a pounching Puma.
The whole concept of the brother who is a goal keeper is being a look alike to Bruce Lee look even putting the shades on was a Bruce Lee look for his funeral. In the old days China when students learn from the same master they call each other brothers or sisters

I know quite a bit of Cantonese and this movie is super hilarious, it's such a shame that the subtitles are completely different from what they actually said and a lot of the jokes got taken out because of that. I'm not a native speaker but I do understand that even if it was translated accurately, it's not possible to fully get the jokes and humor without knowing the language as it's a very "witty" and "playful" language, but changing the lines to something entirely different is just unacceptable.
This was the worst reaction videos ever. They don't even react and fun part of the movie was missed all the reactions. I don't understand how they got 400k subs. Worst reactors so far
