The FIRST half a million is a remarkable milestone for this series in such a short time. All of us who are drawn to R.R.R.'s admire the skill, humor and love for life and work ethic displayed by this family.
*Ray does the job by the book because the vehicle cooperates; audience yawns, half of us tune out early* *Ray goes into a self described 'disaster in the making'; likes, subscribes and shares double in short order* He DEFINITELY knows what makes for great content! Now if we could just figure out who that mysterious little blond girl is that pops up on occasion... 🤣🤣🤣
To the Help Unit. Ray is a pretty cool cat, so you shouldn't have to worry about bosses and co workers trying to bury a load of cutlery in your back to elevate themselves
In cases like this, you're usually better off firing off a few salvos of the parts canon to start with because you usually wind up replacing most of those things anyway.
I could say something about how bad his welding looked on the one side, on the other, I very highly doubt mine would look any better if even equally bad at all... I guess with all the holes I would have burned there would have been a larger gap afterwards than what he started with. Yeah, my welding sucks big time, but my brazing was quite ok though... not that I have done any in the last couple ten years...
SO happy for you Ray! 500K subscribers is an awesome achievement. The last couple of months where its been slowly creeping up from 483K has seemed so slow but suddenly you're there! The quality of your videoing and editing is top notch, then there's no foul language and every video you teach us new stuff and keep us entertained. Congratulations, you deserve this.
Such a manly man you are Ray. Showing the young buck how to properly pull a wrench to obtain maximum power! Wife unit is certainly lucky ! Great job guys, just 2 dudes working on a old Jeep. Love the videos.
Thought I was watching Fab rats for a second 😂 I love repairs like these. Anyone can buy the right part and install it, but it takes a real skill to fabricate something and make it work.
I started watching your videos when you only had 50,000 subscribers, so a Big Thanks for your informative videos, so onwards towards your Million, keep it coming Ray
"Don't cuss me out like my dad did" I had a belly laugh with that one. Every mechanic worth his salt has been cussed out by their dad (at least once) whilst holding the flashlight. That is where you start. Mechanic's initiation.
I'm one of 500,000 and a local client...remember the '95 F150 clutch and U-joint job...? It's working great...!!! Thanks, keep up your awesomeness and don't forget to compliment someone today....
Not too many people will hire a newbie, when they need help, but you are going the extra yard to hire, and train says a lot, good job Ray hope he turns out good and helps your business grow.
Re: Nick name for your new hire. We used to call our brand new airmen JEEPs. It stood for Just Enough Education to Pass. Some of them later would earn a nickname from some kind of incident or trait. For example, I had a guy on my crew who would have a 5 o'clock shadow before noon. He'd be clean shaven a 0600 roll call, so not like hew wasn't trying. He got the nickname "Wolfman", or just "Woofie". He liked it, so we kept it. Keep it light and not demeaning. It's meant in good fun and camaraderie.
Depending on the worker, some of the nicknames can be harsh but accurate. E.g, Blister, only appears after the hard work is done. Dickfingers, f*cks everything he touches, Opium, slow acting dope. Probably a few others too I have learned from my time.
Congrats on the 500k milestone! You'll definitely be reaching 1M in the near future. Keep up the fantastic work and I wish you, your family, and your team the very best!
One reason I watch Ray, Kenny, Wes, Eric O & Scott (he fixes old buses), is because they are all good teachers. Something we need more of. I'm learning more about repairing HVAC systems then I'll ever need to know.
Congrats Ray for 500,000 subscribers. Well done. Shows the quality of content and entertainment value and subsequently the audience draw of your vlogs.
I know I'm a little late to the party here, but in my experience with these engines burning rich, it has a lot to do with the ECT sensor. The one that talks to the computer, not the gauge. Same thing happens on a lot of domestic OBD1 engines. What happens is the sensors fail, and tell the ECU that the coolant temp is -40, so the ECU dumps fuel in to the engine. I over 35 years as a Mechanic, I have only ever seen 3 ECT codes displayed. Also, congratulations on the 500K subs! You deserve that and more! Have a great day, Sir! And God Bless! o7
I agree. One more mechanic fixing cars who knows that the car is someones lifeline NOT just a cost a business has to minimize effort on so he can maximize profit.
Congratulations on 500k and counting! Also enjoy seeing videos like this, tooling on an almost 30 year old driver, OBD1 and all. Very relatable as a fellow old car owner.
Just wanted to take some time to say, Thank you! Your content is a great break from the ordinary Mech channel. Your personality reminds me of a guy I worked with years ago. Thanks for being you and keep it up it is what got your here and it will take you so much further!!! Thanks again Ray!
YOU MADE A HALF MILLION SUBS!!!!!!🏆🏆🏆 ***SEVERAL EDITS AS i WATCHED THE VIDEO*** Until we get a real name, let's call him: "Helper Unit". I'm supposed to be getting my exhaust, "red-necked" on my 2003 VW Bug today, IF the muffler comes in, I do not want to spend another $3500 on a Cat that is perfectly fine, but has rusted pipes and a swiss-cheese muffler. My Brother has one of these old Jeeps. His runs great, but it will beat you to death with the suspension. Get those vacuum leaks fixed, it might run better and if it has vacuum variable valve timing.... Maybe some newer, hotter spark plugs... And a hotter coil... I had an old beater car that ran similarly, and upping the ante on the spark helped a lot. I went with an Accel coil and copper plugs. The musical background is odd for your videos.... As far as the welding goes? It's good if it holds. I cannot weld, sooo, any welding that holds and does the job is WONDERFUL by me. 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Man that guy you hired is the luckiest kid to be taught by you. All though you do remind me of my first shop manager I worked for. And he was a bit of a prick on bad days lol.
Great video, as usual. "Cleveland" is a lucky kid to learn the right way from the best. Congrats on the 500k. I have a friend that hit 500k and 8 months later he was at 1M! That was the first of the year. Now he's at 1.3M. Be prepared for exponential growth. Wife Unit will be competing with you shortly. Watching that exhaust pipe repair brought the name "Rube Goldberg" to mind. 🤣
Good to see you working with an assistant! And to be working with another project challenge! Congratulations on your gaining 500.000 subscribers! And continue to educate and explain the work being done! Waiting for you to officially christen your new Help Uni !
I commented when you reached 495000...about you reaching 500000 soon and you reached it much faster than i thought. Congratulations Ray. People love you and your video style. "It is what it is" would make a great t-shirt.
I watch your shows with interest. Would like to thank you for all the time and effort it takes to produce each episode. Its nice to see the old addige ( No job is to small to bodge) is still alive and kicking.. A name for you apprentice, what else but ,Cleatus . Stay well stay safe.
First, congrats on the milestone! As others said, your unique combination of informative troubleshooting and humor have contributed greatly to your explosive growth. As to the Jeep....reminds me of my dad's vehicles....that old dutchman would postpone routine maintenance repairs (oil and lube he was religious about, but forget shocks, suspension, etc.....lol
Congrats with half a million subscribers, Ray! The the Jeep: you can get trouble codes! All you have to do is switch the ignitionkey on-off-on-off-on, and the MIL will blink the codes!!
Sign me up for Ray’s custom exhaust installations . Master and apprentice showing the trade how it’s done.😅 Peco shares are tanking after seeing this video. It’s a pleasure to be one of your half a million subscribers, Ray. Keep up the great work.
I've seen your welds. You're getting a grinder for Christmas! 🤣 Why do I instinctively look away from the screen when you start welding? Congrats on the half million!
Congrats on half-million subscribers! You are one heck of an entertaining linguist. I thought you were hiring another mechanic, but it appears you hired a trainee! 😊
Congrats on 500K! Your welding, while not great, is still about 325% better than some of the welds I've seen on 'Just Rolled In'. And about10% better than my welding.
Hey man I’m not a mechanic and I love your videos. The way these videos are produced and your knowledge on cars is awesome. Road to 1 Million on the Odo!!!!
500k+ now brother!!! Congrats!! Been watching you for a few months now. Found out about your channel from Aaron’s channel & came over expecting to find another diesel tech and was happily surprised to find a general tech and love all of the different jobs you do. Glad you’re doin great and already expanding since taken things into your own hands!! Been doin a great job!! God bless~ PS: gotta do it to ya brother lol, but way too much wire stickin out before you start, no wire wheel before welding, no gloves, should’ve removed the manifold and cleaned and ground a V groove in the crack and you most certainly could’ve sealed this up completely via weld or wrapping it in a thin metal and welding that up good (which you basically did in a way lol). Yes I know you’re not a welder lol but as an ex-welder turned ex-NDT inspector, I had to give ya a couple tips and more $h!t than anything else lol you should make some time and either get someone to teach you and than weld on scrap over and over until it ‘clicks’ for you or take a class at your local welding school. You’d be surprised how much you’d learn and improve the business. PSS you can weld that up using mirrors. “Pipe welders do it with mirrors” lol again, good stuff Ray!!
Congrats Ray and family. You deserve the success you have achieved. You are an interesting and entertaining professional and performer. I love your mix of mechanic and family and life situations you share with us. Cheers
Ray takes care of his tools and equipment. High volume shops often have workers with the attitude of, "It's not my stuff. The shop can just get another if it breaks."

Ray. When it comes to welding especially tubing the golden rule is to clean, clean, and clean some more the metal that you are going to weld. It makes starting the welding process a lot easier and better welds.

@@MrWoodyBalto I can kind of see doing it on a TEMP. weld like this. But if he wants that 02 Sensor reading right NOT SO MUCH. Just change the header, Jeeps are VERY WELL KNOW FOR HEADERS CRACKING. Also rewelding them does not last long, even by a PRO. welder. They make a header with bellows in them so it gives some & does not crack the pipes her they meet. I think Ray should take a few welding classes, if he can ever find the time ?
I can't wait until you get to 1 million. When you do, I'll be celebrating for you. Your content and presentation are some of the most enjoyable videos I've ever watched. I wish you and your family much success, prosperity and happiness. Keep up the great work Bro!
I started the video and thought I was watching Ray using two hands up under the car - with a third hand holding the flashlight?? That must be Charlie (Babbitt). Yeah, we can call him Charlie. Congratulations, Ray, on 500k subscribers.
I'm very happy for you and your family at the success of both your business and the channel! Given the hard work and dedication of you and your gang a million subscribers won't be far away! Congratulation!
