There is an old saying: "The man who has an old bible, well read and falling apart, has a life that isn't falling apart.
❤ well said!
I have two Bibles bound in goatskin, one since 2012, and one since 2018, Both of them are just as supple and pliable as they were when I first got them. I also have two bound in calfskin and one in Berkshire leather(pigskin) that are even older and they're both still soft and pliable. So far, I haven't had to put any kind of conditioner on any of them. Actually, I think that they become more pliable over time the more that I hold them when reading them.
As he said in the end, how you treat them and store them is the most critical part.
This gave me the courage to put conditioner on my favorite bible, luckily all went well
Looking forward to seeing this video fromvmy favorite bible reviewer!
Awesome tips
Great vid
That was very useful.
Thank you, Brother Tim 🌹⭐🌹⭐ Pushing for 10K!!!!
I love the video ideas you keep coming up with. I wonder about Humble Lamb leather. Research time. Thanks, Tim.
This one was from a subscriber comment.
A dime of bonus time today ❤
When I have had to condition leather, I've used Triple Crown Leather Preservative & Restorer.
Go THIN. Just a little bit will do. Also works well on leather jackets, boots, purses, etc.
I use Leather Honey
I was hoping you would have covered more exotic leathers too. Like ostrich or bison.
There are so many leathers and so little time…
Tim may i ask, is badalassi carlo still your fav or has Pueblo or double shot taken the numero uno spot?
Stop asking hard questions!!!!
Very informative. Thanks. Now that you have had the fat nat for a few weeks what is your gut ion how it will hold up?
The jury is still out, but I think the horse hair brush will help a TON!
Good video, Tim.. i have a doubt, whether the goatskin leather bibles can be wrapped with velvet cloth, when we store them in their boxes..
You mean the Crossway bibles?
Not only Crossway, but any other goatskin bibles Tim..
Crossway are the only ones I’ve ever seen supplied with the cloth.
Oh I think you are meaning the oil could get on the cloth. I’d say you’d have to give it a day or two to absorb.
My question is, is there any problem for the goatskin bibles to be wrapped in cloth for longer durations.. whether the cloth fabric can damage the leather of the bibles..
Hmm, so does this mean that all the colored leathers, in particular the Humble Lamb colored leathers, like blue Meritian Goatskin, can't absorb any leather conditioner?
@@-johnny-deep- perhaps…
Dyed leather will accept conditioner. It's leather that has a layer of something that seals it that it won't
Anyone have any proven methods of restoring bible paper that has had water on it? I spilled a glass of water and my Bible got in the way - many pages affected by the water - even messed up the art gilding. What do y’all know?
The only thing you can do is love it or get a new one. If the pages themselves aren’t damaged you can get it speckled.
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews Thanks for responding. I’m taking the ‘love approach’ and hoping the summer humidity helps.
