If you're in Sydney 100% try El Jannah (Lebanese charcoal chicken with garlic sauce). It'll be the best thing you try. Also try: - Oporto's (portuguese chilli burger chain) - HSP (from a good kebab store) - Banh Mi from either Marrickville pork roll or Top Ryde Bakery
Mate, Aussie food hits different. You will have a flavor blast. Not a lot of foods to call authentically Australian but they do international food extremely well. Definitely get a kebab or HSP (halal snack pack), from local kebab shop, Thai food (Holy Basil - if you're in Sydney), Viet food (so much better than Korea). Meat pies, sausage rolls, kangaroo steak, lamingtons, anzac cookies, Red Rock Deli chips, craft beer is also top game in Aus.
You probably already know but Hungry Jacks is the Australian version of Burger King. Red Rooster is an Australian fast food chicken shop. Not great, but it is uniquely Australian. You got to try: Chicken Parmi from a pub. Sausage sizzle from Bunnings. HSP frim a kebab/yiros shop, especially if you've been drinking. Burger with the lot (including beetroot and pineapple). Vanilla slice (commonly known as a Snot Block) from a bakery.

yo ben if you're going to sydney, it's quite a diverse city so I recommend trying out various differeent cuisines especially the famous bahn mi places such as hong ha bakery in sydney (near the airport).
Brother you have to try el jannahs charcoal chicken if you are in sydney. Ogalos is great too, Oportos is similar to ogalas but much more popular but ogalas is nicer imo. Zambreros is a great mexican chain. You must try a HSP(halal snack pack), you get them from kebab shops.
Hi Ben, If you're in western Sydney. Try chubby buns burgers they are flamed grilled- best burgers for me in sydney. Try also the spicy crispy pork bahn mi in the bakery Top Ryde mall near Woolworth's. grocery

You need to go for some HSP, which is basically fries with kebab meat and sauce. It's our late night feed staple. Other than that, defs go for some wicked wings from KFC. In terms of Aussie snacks, maybe try out a chicko roll, some meat pies, and all our Red Rock Deli potato chips! If you're in Melb, then definitely check out all our cafes, our coffee is bomb!

Sydney? local cafe for a brekkie/coffee and pub for a steak. El Jannah is lebanese charcoal chicken. Manoosh is a lebanese pizza chain. Marrickville pork roll is popular banh mi. Gelato Messina is S tier (the specials are ridiculous). Melbourne? Victoria markets has a food truck outside called "American Donut Kitchen" = hot jam donut. Brunettis in Carlton is/has everything at their store (more than on their website) its worth visiting (+ there is one at the airport).
pls try schnitz! to me they literally have the perfect chip (fry) but i've also never had the chance to try american fries like at five guys or arbys.. would love to know how it really compares

Gotta try El jannah in melbourne. Sydney's isnt that hyped as melbourne's one. They serve chicken in charcoal and fried. Their garlic dip is exceptional!!!!!! Hungry Jack's is better than Macca's BTW.
It depends where you go, there are specialties all over Australia. Darwin/NT claim to have the best laksa in Australia being close to Asia, bakeries for you hot pastries are everywhere. Adelaide has 3 24/7 bakeries with German influences. Try some indigenous aboriginal cousines hard to get easily but some restaurants in capital cities or arrange with a local peoples to try it. Plenty of kebab places and Greek yiros/gyros but make sure the have horizontal spits on coal. Enjoy!
bro even go the mustache. if you come sydney, you have to try nene chicken. the snowing chilli and freaking hot are the best options. the corndog is fucking fire too but most of the time its out.
