I have been a construction worker for decades, and I have learned that it's important to recalibrate my hammer sights every day. Misalignment is caused by a multitude of factors, including (but not limited to) temperature, humidity, energy level, ambient lighting, and what song is on the radio.
Love your videos, glad you are staying safe out there.

Ron it amazes me how alot of people seem to lack some common sense and common courtesy. I move over everytime a vehicle is on the side of the road whether it's say you doing your job to an abandoned vehicle. Part of my job besides hauling freight is to keep myself safe and try to keep everyone around me as safe as I can. I understand things just happen but I couldn't live with myself if someone got hurt or lost their life if im involved even if it wasn't my fault. But we all have to help each other out there. And now since the cold and winter is coming its going to get difficult for all of us. Keep up the good work my friend and I know the man above is looking watching over us. Have a good day

The slow down move over law is necessary, but a minority of folks do not recognize the need to do it. Whenever I can, I get over and if I cannot, I slow down and move over in my lane as much as possible. It is simply the safe thing to do and should be common sense. Great video, as always, Ron.

And by the way you should see the traffic advisory lights I have on my ram for when I stop to check on people, they really are phenomenal tho not as mush so as yours.

I am impressed with your attention to detail and i understand you have to be to keep yourself and family helpers and the other two safe from harm and get the job done without incident. I didn't really realize how dangerous it is on the interstates while working on the side of the road and you also have a lot that could go wrong in a hurry with the size and weight that you deal with on every event. I also like that you have faith, a very rare human experience in todays society, and the American flag. When I was serving my country in Vietnam in 1968 the only thing I had was my American flag and God. Both of these mean a lot to me and as I grow older both of them are still very important in my life. So Ron, that's my couple of words to say thanks to you and what you do to help keep folks safe on our interstates, roads, by-ways, and construction zones may they even be out on a farmers access road. Thanks and God bless you and your family and friends, and please don't forget to remind yourself to have a great day.

3:50 This problem stems from how we're taught how to handle emergency situations in driver's ed. I'm 27, so still fairly fresh on the rules in a sense, and in PA the rule was move over *or* slow down, implying that if you're in the left lane you can still rip on by at 70-75-80 mph. It was the same in VA, FL, and OH. I imagine it's the same in MO. Humans love to take things at face value, where critical thinking is a luxury. Just look at how many fights break out over text messages. Maybe we need to lobby congress to start a new campaign that states move over *and* slow down.

  • @garyfinley120

Hello Ron. Just wanted to comment that slow down and move over is a great idea.. but I think everybody needs to do it. I live in your area and have been broke down on the shoulder before and several times have seen Wreckers, fire engines, and other emergency vehicles have room to move over and they do not. I just think if you want us motorist too then the other emergency vehicles should also. Hope you have a good week.

Here in Pennsylvania it’s a common occurrence to have emergency vehicles show up to provide cover for towing hookup. I work at a busy car dealership. One time I went to fill up a rental with gas, I thought I had enough to make it the 1.5 miles to the gas station but it ran out 1/2 way there and I drifted to a stop on a major hiway. I had to bail out to the shoulder, and flail my arms looking like a wild man to get traffic to notice. I called the local police department and they sent a unit PROMPTLY because they knew what would have happened. Once the officer was on scene with his emergency lights, it was only a short wait till another guy from the dealership showed up with the Jerry can. I could not have possibly fueled that car without the officer providing cover. The way I see it, that is one reason we have emergency first responders like that. It may be different in other areas but here in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania they help TREMENDOUSLY with situations like this.

Maybe it would all do us a big favor if we took a refresher course in driving. I remember back in 1971 when I doing my student driver training .My instructor made us call out everything on road. Traffic signs, other signs traffic lights if there was another motor vehicle beside us. That made us concentrate on everything on the road instead of being mindless!

Since I’ve been watching your channel, I’ve noticed that a lot of drivers feel the need to drop the trailer before any thing has been determined.

I love the sound of each vehicle passing on the expressway. this brings back memories of trucking with a friend across the country. The hmm of an engine is music to the captain of the vessel. So, when he hears another, he knows the Humm of other vehicles. another thing is why don't people just slow down. If you see a tow truck or emergency vehicles on the expressway working. once you go pass them. It is really up to you as lead of flow of traffic. you can reduce your speed 1000ft ahead to bring the traffic speed down while they pass emergency vehicles.

Good video and tow, as usual. Also, you are showing great patience when it comes to teaching the skills needed to do the job effectively and safely. I can only speak for myself, but the transition from doing to teaching was a "learning" experience for me as well. Thank you for sharing with us.

Ever notice that no matter how big your truck is, you still have too much stuff in it to be able to get at all of it? Apparently, stuff is a gas that expands to fill all the available volume.

When people do their testing for their drivers licences I believe it says to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles. That SHOULD also include Tow Trucks and Highway Maintenance Workers. I plow and maintain highways in NW Ontario Canada and I know your concerns Ron.

As always Ron, a true professional job. Thanks for what you do. I do want to say that I enjoy when you are in 'teacher' mode. Not only are you patient but you explain why. A just a side note on the downed tractor, I couldn't help but notice the NY HUT's slapped on. Got a bit of a giggle as I just received a few for our newest batch of trucks.

The rear of the trailer isn't called a bumper, It's a mansfield bar. Excellent video as always! Just having some fun with Ethan calling it a bumper. Love your channel!

Most trucks with cruise control have an idle override. Just turn cruise 'on' then hit the 'set' button. should idle up to 900-1100 rpm without shutting down. Engines and trucks and company policies vary, but there's one for your tool box.

Alex had this funny giggle when you said you were hungry. That he knows a lot about. He is my little food hoarder. I keep his mini fridge and cabinet in his room full of snack stuff because of how he was treated before he was found. He will eat constantly if you let him. Almost every time you set a plate full of food in front of him and leave it there, he will start to cry. We figure he was not fed or watered regularly when he was with his biological mother. They had 2 dogs and my guess is the dogs allowed him to eat some of their food.
My favorite class in college was stress in children. It was a 8 hour a day 5 days a week month long class I took as an elective in special education. I knew I would use the information, but never figured I would use it on a daily basis.

Ron if you happen to see this maybe you should think about getting some velcro strips that you can just wrap around to hold that and then you just take them off and use them again over and over

An open comment to those who refuse to slow down and move over: would you rather they just close the entire highway? (BTW, Ron, thanks for all you do!)
