  • Loaded semi went through the guard rail, into the woods, and partially rolled. This one took all 3 of our heavies tied together in a "daisy-chain" to pull it back up from BEHIND more guard rail. Super Ron to the rescue again. Good job getting this truck out of there. Just so you know Monster Energy is anti hydration

    • @RonPratt
      @RonPratt  4 года назад +327

      Mike is the Energy drink guy. During jobs like this I steadily drink a mixture of Pedialyte/water and drink Body Armour hydration drinks as well as take potassium pills and munch on peanut butter crackers. EVEN with all of that, this job took me down. Mike had to drive the Rotator from the job-site to the shop and I went straight from the shop to the ER. I was having severe muscle cramps/spasms to the point of being incapacitated. They filled me with IV fluids and heavy muscle relaxers to ease the spasms. It was bad enough that one of the nurses passing by my room thought I was having seizures. It was MISERABLE!!! But, after a couple hours I was out of the hospital. Then I was on light duty for about a week. I've suffered from heat exhaustion in the past and I thought that I had stayed ahead of it this time, but, apparently my fluid and sugar intakes were too little too late. I knew when my hands started cramping what was coming and I starting downing the drinks and snacks in hopes to of replenishing quickly. Unfortunately, my reserves had already been depleted. I know first hand how bad heat exhaustion can be. That's why I'm constantly telling my guys to stay hydrated. Just goes to show you, even though I THOUGHT I was hydrated, I was not, and I have learned more from this experience so that hopefully I can prevent it from happening again. Just another hazard of my profession. Thanks for watching and God bless.

    Just a suggestion, Ron. On the dehydration induced cramps, my nurse at my blood bank where I do platelet donations frequently keeps a bottle of tums on the shelf. I often get excruciating cramps in my calves and feet about 45 minutes into the procedure. She hears me wince and brings me two tums. 15 seconds after I chew them up, no more cramps! I also keep a bottle on the nite stand by our bed, for those late night cramps when I over due the lawn service and chainsaw work. I'm only 76, but still can put in a whole day of work. Love your channel. My eldest son has been with Hittman for several years hauling waste from nuclear facilities. He loves it, and zero accidents for over 3 million miles.

      When I worked for Illinois State Highways we would have to clean drainage ditches. They used a Grad-All to do that work. One time we were cleaning ditches on Glenview Road where it dead ended into the Navy base. The City engineers were out there. They asked the operator, "Do you think you could take a little more off the back cut?" The operator told them, "You do know that gas line is buried back there?" They said, "We know. Just take a little more off there." So he starts to cut. About the 4th or 5th cut he cut a nipple off the gas line. They had to evacuate and call the gas company to plug the leak. You know that cost big time since the line was marked.

    Gotta add to the comments praising your leadership style. Can't have a good crew unless they know *why* they do every little thing cause if they don't the big things will go wrong.

Plus the d:d ratio needs to be met and its not with the chain. Other than that hats off to your guys. I just lift it up you guys lift it every direction. Way more more Complicated.

      They have numerous trailers, we have 4 of them on our lot in Stillwater, Oklahoma right now. They make cardboard drums of various sizes for us.

    • @ArtStoneUS
      @ArtStoneUS 4 года назад

      The tractor is not owned by the shipper. The DOT search points to a lot of red flags. In a case like this, it could turn into an ugly fight between the insurance company insuring the driver and the shipper. Did the truck crash because the load shifted because it was not loaded properly or a driving error? Ron was smart to not open the trailer or cut it in pieces.

    Ron, you mentioned in one video a starter headset kit is $6k. You can rig your whole team for wayyyy cheaper. Peltor Comtac 3 or similar, baofeng UV-5r, U94 PTT from Disco 32. You’ll have safe ambient hearing, in-ear comms, and the whole team can operate on the channel.

    Great job Ron! Suggest you wear shorts on hot days and drink, instead of energy drinks, water with some Oral Rehydration Solution in it (glucose, sodium citrate, salt, potassium chloride) to compensate for loss of water and minerals. Cramping muscles indicate a lack of magnesium - magnesium citrate is best.
    Stay safe guys.

    A three quarter of a million post remover. Great job on a difficult recovery. Wouldn't have been so bad if the tractor hadn't got torn up so bad on the way in. Cheap Freightliner. Then you could have strapped the trailer with the rotator to keep it from going over any further while using the V-70 to pull everything back to the highway, dropped the shaft shot air to it and went home. As it was, it was a might more difficult.
